I ordered a appetizer of hummus, which had toasted pita, marinated tomatoes, olive tapenade & cucumber. The hummus was good but bland. Needed more Tahiti & lemon. I make my own a lot. I ordered a small plate with about 5 slices of seared tuna, rare with seaweed salad & ginger & more cucumber. It was good, very lite meal. Husband had shrimp with a wide noodle & a tasty sauce. We also shared a nice Stags Leap chardonnay. The experience was good, but neither of us were wowed with our meals. It is a bit pricey, especially their steaks. read more

WOW LUCKY, LUCKY me to stumble upon this place. I love CHEESE !  There's a big selection, all sorts. wide ranges of flavors and textures. Some with strong flavors, theres creamy, sweet tastying and fruity. Cheeses can be paired with honey, fruit, jams, nuts, mustards....there's many options, up top crackers, bread, celery, cucumbers it's all what you prefer. I especially liked that the portions varied in size. The smaller are good for the adventurous who want to try something new, you can always come back for larger portions.  And I believe they will cut to your liking as well. Very friendly staff. It also looked like they were putting  together gift boxes, and special order cheese trays, all ready to eat!!! Don't forget the beverages.....right here in the shop are wines, beers and spirits.. Our favorite place to eat in Destin...hands down. We were completely surprised at the quality of food and service. I thought this was going to be more of a common bistro place...but wow...the flavors of literally everything we had was out of this world. The wine list will not fail you. A good Bordeaux will put you in the mood for lots of cheese and veal. We had a variety of dishes. Our family of 8 is big on sharing, so there was a lot of "plate passing" going on. I cannot empathize how good the veal was, as well as the Mac and cheese and the crab cakes. Everything made us wish we lived within driving distance of this amazing establishment. I had a really great time here with two friends. We came just in time to enjoy happy hour. There was a decent selection to choose from on happy hour. Lengthy wine list! Wine was delicious. We got the cheese platter and it was delicious!!! I ordered one of the specials for my meal. It was also delicious, fresh, and very good quality food. I don't know how it took me so long to go to this awesome wine bar right by the Commons in Destin. I've seen it forever and just went there for the first time this evening with two friends/colleagues. The service was excellent and when I learned that it is run by a family that really made sense. Everyone was so friendly. The charcuterie board we ordered was delicious and full of flavorful cheese, fruit, meats, and a variety of items I've actually never even tried before. The bread was sliced in a way that made it uneasy to use when creating a bite. I made it work. but it could have been prepared properly. Crackers and red grapes would have made good additions as well as an assortment of sauces, mustards or jellies. It came instead with oil, two types of pickles and oddly, cold butter beans. The chef's cheese choices were alright but not diverse or interesting. My son had the lamb chop and it was not edible. My wife and I both tried it and it was ordered medium but delivered overcooked and the meat was incredibly tough. This a pricey restaurant. After tip, those 2 items were near $100. The restaurant part of the building has an indoor lounge area, bar area, and table area. The Wine Bar also has covered out door table seating. I recommend visiting during their happy hour. It's your standard two glasses for one deal but I was impressed with their selection of wines. If wine isn't your thing, they have delicious cocktails and a full bar. Now to the food; it was delicious. I had a turkey club. It wasn't the bulky club everyone else serves. Instead, it was a delicate sandwich filled with thin meats, tomatoes, lettuce and guacamole. So great! The Wine Bar in Destin was way better than I even imagined! We came during happy hour, where you could get a 12oz carafe for the price of a glass. The wine was great, but the biggest surprise was how good the food was! We did a build your own cheese board, and honestly this should be a feature at every restaurant. SO MANY CHEESES! We picked three, and they were all delicious and served with a generous helping of bread, grapes, and mixed nuts. My boyfriend got the French dip sandwich, which I thought sounded blah. I mean, how good could a sandwich at a wine bar really be? Y'all- it was the best damn French dip sandwich I'd ever had! It was so flavorful and juicy, I'm drooling just thinking about it. There were a ton of regular coming through ordering food, so you know this place is legit! It has a pleasant vibe and we really enjoyed our visit. I love love love this place! It is such an unexpected find in a beach/beer/seafood kind of city. I have been here for father'd day for a charcuterie board and wine and also happy hours with friends, they have indoor and outdoor seating so it was accommodating to all crowds. It was not at all a skimpy board of cheeses and nuts! You get a good amount of snacking options too! The wine selection is also impeccable! I am no sommelier so I definitely needed the staff to help me pick a wine and they did a great job of guiding me to a wine that will fit my palate! But my favorite favorite part of the experience of going here is the small grocery store/market next door. I do not know if they are connected or anything but they sell mainly things for a wine and cheese night at home, plus other things! They have a wide array of cheeses and dips and pretty much anything you would want to put on a board and eat your heart out with wine! Great cheese, great wine, toxic manager. In an industry that is focused on educating and serving its customers I was shocked at how a manager like this could be employed. After enjoying some great cheese and wine our group decided to relocate to the Craft bar. Unfortunately my wife and friend were taking there time drinking their wine and had almost a full glasses of wine left. We asked the waitress whether we could take our wines to the next bar and was told it's frowned down upon but we can do it if we provide a credit card. I believe the concern is the glassware is expensive and they don't want to get it stolen? I asked if we could just have coffee cups or something to avoid the issue altogether. Long story short we proceeded to go to the craft bar with there $30 glasses of wine in tow. We were asked to provide not one but two credit cards for collateral. When we got to the craft bar we asked our waiter to pour into their glasses and return the glasses to the wine bar. Our glasses were taken and upon return the waiter said the "manager" would bring our cards for us. When the manager arrived to give us our cards he had a smirk on his face and said "nice try, trying to beat the system" as if we were either trying to steal the wine glasses or avoid giving them a credit card. Unfortunately for the craft bar the wine bar manager ruined our experience. Very immature and if you ask me quite closed minded to the concept of providing a solution for this if these glasses going from wine bar to craft bar really means that much to him. Maybe a paper to go cup or maybe have craft bar transfer glasses on hand. I suppose it's a great thing the cheese and wine selection and friendly staff which is good enough to not deter people away. I can only imagine how well their own staff is treated if anything like how the manager was willing to treat its customers. read more

But they've got 10 pours of Maipe, a brand of Argentinian wine, lots of Malbecs. Okay so the glasses are small and lame and the atmosphere is not that great, as in, you are in a liquor store. But it's $10, and 10 pours, and some good Malbecs. I was feeling loosey goosey without any extra pours and the pourer is a cute young thang that maybe could get it. You also get $5 off any wine on the list. Dinner: The special NY strip steak was just not that great. Am I really so spoiled by LA? But it's also not as expensive either so maybe mediocrity can be justified. Except it isn't. Stay home and cook your own steak from now on! I tried to order the pot roast and they ran out. Thanks for trying I guess. But considering most places in Destin just sucks, this is not so bad. read more

The more I come here, the more I am convinced that Chan's is one of the better places to dine in the Destin area. Their specials are always delicious and perfectly cooked, their cru board selections will amaze you and the atmosphere and value are exceptional. It's a place where you find yourself making mental notes to come back over and over to try something there that you haven't had yet. Chan's is very smart about getting people in the door with regular events like beer tastings, wine tastings, bourbon or champagne tastings, as well as larger events like their yearly Destin Beer Festival and Thanksgiving and Christmas parties. They host weekly beer tastings on Wednesday nights and offer a delicious gourmet burger created especially for that week's beer list. You need to eat these burgers! In addition to their fantastic restaurant, Chan's has a very impressive store featuring gifts, gourmet cheese, fine wine, liquor and and amazing assortment of craft beer.
