I live with my elderly father and we have had issues for more than 6 months now with SCAN denying treatments that should be covered by normal Medicare. However, SCAN has done nothing but limit his access to care, how often he sees doctors, or blocks his ability to get treatment. And good luck getting a live human on the phone. I am a 68 year old male, and part of the SCAN Healthplan. I am also a diabetic. I used to have many seizures from low blood sugar. I have probably had as many as 300 seizures in my lifetime because of low blood sugar, so you can imagine the life saving value of the Dexcom Sensor, which will alarm me if my blood sugar is low. I have been without this sensor for a few days now, because of the inability of SCAN to fill this prescription. I have called their customer service number for the past 10 days now, spending sometimes over an hour each day trying to get my prescription to my pharmacy, One receptionist told me Dexcom was no longer in their "Formulary", meaning that it was no longer covered by SCAN. That was such an outrageous statement, that I asked to speak to her supervisor. I was told by her superior that my endocrinologist needed to send a prior authorization to SCAN. I called my endocrinologist and was told that she had already done that, but will send another one. I called back SCAN and was told they could not find the authorization. I asked SCAN if they could contact the endocrinologist, who is on SCAN's list of preferred physicians, and SCAN told me they could not do that. ???? SCAN finally found the prior authorization, but now it had to go to the physicians medical group to be Okayed. SCAN told me this could take time, but it had to be done, by law, by July 4th. That will make it almost a month long since I first started to attempt to get this prescription filled. Are you kidding me? It is amazing how incompetent and how people that answer the customer service are allowed to say anything, without any consequences. I do not know of any reason why SCAN has put so many impediments into the process of simply filling a very necessary prescription, and cannot come up with any other reason other than to slow down the process. I would definitely change to another insurance, but this has happened as well at other insurance companies that I've had to deal with. This way of handling customers is now standard process for insurance companies. And they have the audacity to tell old people to join a health club, while at the same time adding so much stress in older people's lives. It's disrespectful, pathetic and a sham, and it's now a way of doing business. read more

I'm so grateful to have found SCAN, a very nice man knocked on my door about 3 years and signed me up. I'm bedridden with full body Neuropathy so I can do very little. I appreciate their low cost medications, they provide me with caregivers 6 days per week to help me out. Thank you SCAN, a great company! read more

I have been with Scan Balance Medicare for 2 years and have had no problems. With that said I have only had to call Scan directly twice and still had no problems. My primary care doctor accepted them so I signed up. I am on disability and paying a lot is not an option. read more

So far, I have not been entirely satisfied with Scan and will leave at the next chance I get. They have not done some procedures that have already been authorized by my doctor. I am amazed at all of the negative comments! I have been a member for over 5 years and the service has been great - I was treated for Breast Cancer, (rare in men) - and assigned the best oncologist ever - (Dr. Vora - Memorial Care) - Bladder Cancer - again great doctors - and fell at different times and broke my left sholder - and then just recently my right sholder - I am 80 years old - and I live very close to the local Memorial Care - urgent center - and they are a blessing - my primary care doctor works out of this facility and is the most caring doctor I have ever had! COVID Shots were scheduled and in both cases were on schedule and were completed and done in less then 30 miutes for both me and my wife. read more

I was pretty shocked to see all these negative reviews and I began to wonder if I've just been lucky up to this point. I will say that I've had Scan insurance for over a year now and have not had any problems with the insurance company itself. In fact, when I've needed to contact them they have been very pleasant, helpful and have gone above and beyond to answer any concerns that I may have. I'm not as thrilled with some of the doctors I have been referred to, however. But, I was with my last doctor for 35 years until he went concierge and I could no longer afford to be with him. He was one-of-a-kind so the new doctors pale in comparison. If I find I have any future problems with the insurance company itself, I will update this. For now I have found them to be excellent with very good coverage. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would! SCAN is a nightmare! They violated my HIPAA right to privacy and they didn't care. I've made 12 requests to speak to a person in charge, a manager of the oversight dept., the manager of the grievance dept., etc., etc., No mgr. ever called me back nor cared to rectify the situation. I continually have to deal with the first line of procedure; the 'advocates', what a joke! The issue I have had started in Oct. 2022 and I'm still dealing with it today. They have caused me a great amount of stress and anxiety because of the situation. They've not corrected the issue, quite the opposite, they made it worse. The grievance dept. didn't even get the grievance correct, obviously they didn't bother to read through the growing list of calls I've made into them to get this situation rectified and the growing list of documentation that's attached to my case. It's like it was too much to read for them so they sluffed it off and sent me a ridiculous form letter in response. I'm ready to sue! read more

A few months ago I would have rated this company 5 stars. Their customer service was great and they were really proactive on making sure that you followed up on your preventive medical plan. Then after a long wait due to the Covid virus I decided to go into the dentist for which there is an additional charge. Despite the fact that I prepaid my policy somehow SCAN advised Delta Dental to cancel my policy. It took over 1/2 day to get this reinstated. I never found out why this happened. I went in for my dental appointment and when I decided to look at my Delta Dental account I found that my policy was again cancelled, leaving me with thousands of dollars of dental bills for which I am personally liable. I had another dental appointment the day I discovered this and called Delta Dental to get this resolved. Had asked them to call me back but no call back even after 3 days. Also called SCAN at the same time and spoke to Rebecca who got my my plan reinstated after some effort. All good but that was 4 hours on the phone. Why? I was to speak to Rebecca in a conference call to get the billing worked out at a certain time. Was put on hold and missed the conference call. Then I called SCAN and talked to someone named Evelyn she claimed that the policy was never cancelled and that I must have gone to the wrong dental office. She even claimed that I must have logged into the wrong Delta Dental website to get my information. If you are a SCAN customer and get put on with her I urge you to hang up get someone else to help you. I do not want to even tell you what happened to the authorization for my colonoscopy. The anesthesia was not approved. Really a pain in the butt. Is this a pay back for voicing my concerns???? read more

Billing Dept. Made Empty Promise to Call Back to Provide Status of Dispute. Unexpected Info from a Member Services Advocate Helped a Great Deal. Grievance and Appeals Dept. Helped Resolve NOTHING. CEASE-AND-DESIST Notice Attempted to Remedy Billing Mistake to No Avail. According to an SVMD staff, SCAN is the entity that approves or disapproves payment of a benefit. For reasons unbeknownst to me, billing statements for Medicare-covered benefits poured in to me as follows: A. for Bone Density Measurement dated 03/25/2020 for $153.00 B. for Bone Density Measurement dated 04/22/2020 for $153.00 C. for Preventive Visit dated 04/22/2020 for $579.00 D. for Breast Uni Real Time with Image dated 05/21/2020 for $22.75 E. for Various tests dated 07/01/2020 for $1,048.92 F. for Bone Density Measurement dated 09/10/2020 for $153.00 I called Member Services Advocates (MSAs) to dispute all the charges except for Item D. For each charge in dispute, I was advised to allow 90 days for research, and to check the following billing statement for the resolution: if a bill does not appear in the following billing statement, it is resolved. R-E-A-L-L-Y??!! Look at how many days had elapsed between the billing statement dated 04/22/2020 and the one dated 09/10/2020 for the same $153! The result of my call to Member Services Dept. on 04/28/2020 was an empty promise that Robin of Billing Dept. would call me back in a few days. I called the Billing Dept. a couple of weeks later, hoping to get the status from a manager, and was advised that Robin was the manager. And that was the end of the phone conversation. I called 800-665-6540 on 05/08/2020, to inquire about the status when I received the second billing statement dated 04/22/2020 for Bone Density Measurement, and was told Robin would take my call and talk to me. After being put on hold for about 30 minutes, I hung up and called the 800 number again, asking Flore to have Robin call me back instead. As of this day of posting this review, I have not heard from Robin or anyone from the Billing Dept. except another billing statement dated 09/10/2020 for $153.00. By chance, MSA Rocio introduced me to the SCAN's Explanation of Benefits and I was able to check the billing charges against SCAN's Explanation of Benefits and the referral papers, thereby, found out that somehow the correct billing code of Z13.820 on the referral papers got changed to 77080 on the billing statement. For this reason, I wrote Rocio's supervisor a commendation letter. Before I embarked on my research, I emailed the GAD supervisor Y.M., who was taking care of my grievances against GAD Coordinator Daysi Hernandez, telling her to hold off working on my billing issues until further notice because I had new leads. A couple of days later on 09/28 and 09/29/2020, I emailed Y.M. , advising her of the root cause of my billing problem. Meanwhile, SCAN's Legal Dept. issued a Cease-and-Desist notice dated 10/02/2020, demanding that SVMD send me and SCAN Health a response within 10 business days of the date of the notice. It has been more than 8 weeks now, but, I have not heard from anyone regarding the status of the disputed amount of $153.00. When Shh took over either all or part of Y.M's responsibilities, she wrote me a letter dated 10/16/2020, asking for the status of my research on the $153 charge. I was annoyed, yet, I took the time to enlighten her that, as someone who took over others' job, she should have checked everything handed over to her, including emails, before she requested a member for anything. In addition, I advised her in my letter dated 10/26/2020 that what she was looking for had been sitting on Y.M.'s email inbox for thirteen (13) business days. I never heard from her regarding this subject matter ever since. It does not appear to me that SCAN has done any investigation nor made any effort to do any follow-up work. In my opinion, SCAN is not an organized entity. Dysfunctional is the description I have for SCAN Health. Never in my 40+ years living in the U.S. was I charged for covered benefits until year 2020 as a SCAN member. AND THIS MANY. It is inexcusable for SCAN to (attempt to) charge a member for Medicare-covered benefits!!!! If I could have it all over again, I would resort to Medicare and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, complaining about SCAN's inability to operate and function professionally! SCAN used to be good. Now they're terrible. I guess they decided to ride on their reputation and goose up their bottom line. There's no way you'll be able to talk to them anymore. They'll put you on hold for several hours, their white female robot repeating the same message every 30 seconds: "All of our representatives are busy helping other customers. Please hold and a representative will be with you shortly." And if you are lucky enough to get through, they'll refer you to a different phone number and the robot torture will start all over again. My spouse waited 5 hours on hold today, during which he talked to 3 humans and was finally abruptly disconnected without receiving any answers. His query was a simple one. Was he still insured? Mostly SCAN has been fine for me but lately customer service is almost impossible to get through to on the phone. Once it was very quick but not anymore. I'm writing this while waiting for someone to pick up. It's been 45 minutes so far. The same thing happened last month and I finally gave up after an hour or so. So this call is for the same issue. Had Scan for years with no complaints, but the last few years they went downhill. My complaint is the referrals take so long. Last year it was my eyes and took 6 months to see an optomologist and they said you were 10 minutes late and would have to reschedule. This year is a dematologist and the quickest they can see me is 5 months. Both these places have multiple locations and are the only ones we can we can go to. Years ago Scans website you could look for referrals and there would be multiple places to go, not any more only one choice. I don't know if it's Regal Med. group or Scan limiting the choices? They may be saving money doing it this way but the service has diminished to a level that's not acceptable. read more

If I could give a ZERO I would! The worst health plan ever! I was out of town and got sick, went to urgent care and needed a procedure done at the hospital that was ordered by a doctor, they say that it was "out of network" won't cover me for something that was medically required at a hospital that I couldn't come back to CA to receive, I was sick and could not travel. I have been arguing for 6 months about this and getting the run around, I have called 8 times and been told many different things, "the claim wasn't submitted correctly so call the hospital and have them re-send it" I did that, called again "oh sorry we need to submit it for research and that takes 90 days" I did that, "oh sorry we didnt submit it last time so I will do it now".......RUN AWAY!!!!! read more

The only time customer "service" is available from Scan is in the fall when they are selling Scan Advantage. In simple terms, scan is a broker. So in the Passdena area, we don't receive any medical service from "Scan" . For me, Coverage mostly goes through Health Care Partners-- clearly one of the worst medicare advantage "providers" in my experience. read more

I have SCAN overall I didn't have a bad experience with them. Though when I had a critical family situation and an accident, I became very depressed. To the point that I was thinking of ending my life. I reached out to get psychological help. However UCLA department of mental health neither psychotherapy nor psychiatric clinics had no availability for a new patient till 3 months later. Since my situation was critical I had to see a psychology outside of the network. I made sure to obtain super bill from her, authorization from UCLA, and all the necessary documents to get reimbursed by SCAN. I even called them to be sure I have all required paperwork. I faxed them a few times to them and they kept saying never received them. For them to say this took a week each times. I decided to take the paperwork to their headquarter in Long Beach. I did and was happy thinking I will be reimbursed l. However, they kept saying my paperwork needs something else and at the end after 3 months they denied it! I was desperate! It proved to me that this company is also working for more money and not based on integrity. I am very upset at the way they treated me. read more

I had been contacted by an agent for Scan so that I could signed up for a small seminar about Scan Health Plans to be conducted at the Dennis on Jamacha Road in El Cajon, CA. I got call from Scan agent the day before the small seminar reminding me of the time and place. I was there right on time. NO ONE SHOWED UP!!! And, no one had the decency to call me and save me the trip. So I called Scan at their 800 number. I went through 8 different people and it was like they were all in a fog about it. Financially SCAN looks like a great deal. But I guess you get what you pay for. With only one exception, the competent doctors I used to rely on all have left this HMO. In their place are lazy, callous, slipshod has-beens who are hanging on to collect a paycheck, including many of their outside "specialists" to whom patients are referred, or part-timers whose limited work schedules mean patients must wait 3 or 4 months for an appointment. And like other reviewers, I've had trouble with their transportation providers: one called AFTER my scheduled pick-up time (and only 20 minutes before my appointment time) to tell me he would need another 40 minutes to reach me. SCAN had to send a Lyft driver, who got me there exactly on time. I joined SCAN on the recommendation of neighbors who were happy with their plans, but this was several years ago now. Probably SCAN was fine then, but today neither its medical care nor its patient service is acceptable. I'm stuck for the next few months, but come December I'm definitely making a move. read more

For people who don't 'want to read a long review, then just STAY AWAY from SCAN, as you can see here there is complaint after complaint about claims denied and in such a fashion that patient who already received services gets billed, people who had coverage for certain things and then found out unexpectedly it was cancelled, whose cost of medication suddenly went up and then couldn't afford it and later became ill, transportation NOT showing up or EXTREMELY delayed, doctors dropping out of the network and even from providers who could not get patient info from them and absolutely NO response to multiple calls, emails etc. Instead of you, the reader, adding to the litany of complaints here that do little but make people stay away, but if you want advice about joining you can stop here but if you are unhappy with them and want to do something read on and I will tell you how, and perhaps we can put this insensitive, incompetent, inept (like alliteration LOL) out of business. If you google Navex Global this is where you report ethics violation (by law every large company has to use one) for unethical behavior, which can include sales people lying, fraudulent behavior which includes not abiding by the terms and conditions in their contract. I think these complaints are reported to the government through Navex but I know for SURE that you will get a response from Scam (oops, Freudian slip) even if everyone there previously ignored you. I would be somewhat wary of giving a oral complaint to the Navex employee because my call was disconnected (the first employee, unlike the two I called for a follow up to see if my report could be retrieved so I wouldn't have to repeat everything WAS nice and I was polite so did not think he hung up on me) and though reassured me that they were a neutral third party, felt writing is better as you don't know how the ethics person will put it down so telling everyone who wants to write a negative review to not only to file a report with Navex, but also IMPORTANT to file a formal complaint on the Medicare site, this is not something like an errant package not being delivered, their incompetent, insensitive, inept behavior may result in the death or sickness of a loved one and they should be put out of business. I mention the package because a company called OnTrac had a terrible reputation and a reviewer wrote maybe they are trying to be the worst package delivery company in the world which must be some kind of accomplishment and maybe Scan is trying to do that with their so called health insurance plan. Despite my unhappy experience with them (my review is already too long to go into minute details) since it was relatively minor as their salesman lied to me to try to get me to enroll right away and them not being able to navigate their website correctly to find an answer that should have taken two minutes not two hours, ( a lovely agent who was the only one who DID try to help said maybe the THREE agents that did not know how to find the answer, forgot how to find it because they didn't do it often, unbelievable-do they have the common sense to ASK someone how to do it rather than lie and say you had to be a member to find out??) It was not life threatening and was STILL considering joining SCAN because of the massage benefit, thank God, no thank the disgruntled patients for your honest and candid reviews and I hope you all write to those agencies instead of just here so something CAN be done to stop them! The only downside is that as a Medi-care plan, they can NOT be sued (I checked on that) despite illnesses or deaths caused by their bad behavior. They should put more money in paying their claims than their cute commercials. Don't just change your Medicare company so someone else suffers but report them to those agencies unfortunately as they are Medi-care VERY difficult to find law firm that will have a class action suit against them. read more

No doubt, if you have SCAN through some programs, it looks different than through others. Evidently, there are "layers" of care with SCAN. We have had numerous issues with SCAN contracted providers in the area in which we now live, unlike before. Its more than obvious that SCAN does not want to hear what you think about any of their healthcare providers. When we have complained, they want us to send in information etc. Then, they never tell you there is a "time" limit to the so called grievance. Odd... not one time was that mentioned when any of us called about a few of the providers we had extreme concerns about. Needless to say, we will NOT be working with SCAN ever, again. The ways in which one of their providers behaved, should have sent off alarm bells and one would have thought they would have sent someone to observe these careless behaviors to see if SCAN wanted to continue contracting with that provider. Why bother to listen to the patient and improve the situation? Why bother with getting "feedback" about the provider in question before insisting that you file a grievance with them first. Why? Why not get a feedback form first to see if a grievance is even necessary. Then, if it is, reach out and see what it is that can be done in order to either rectify, first, if possible, and then, "walk" them through the grievance process. After all, SCAN is supposed to be in the business of "seniors". Well, our "senior" is not capable of understanding everything that is going on and is very confused by all of the "information" provided. It may not have occurred to SCAN, however, many people are living a lot longer than they were when SCAN first started this once stellar non-profit health care system. Unfortunately, many who have lived longer, no longer have the capacity to keep up with the ever changing ways of the digital world. One senior I met said she needed blood work, but when she called to make an appointment with the SCAN provider, they said she had to go "on-line". So, she decided to go in to the facility to just make the appt. This senior lives alone and has no family to help and is in a wheelchair. The facility she was visiting, where I met her, has a very steep incline for the wheelchairs. When she reached the top where the "pay" parking structure was, it was digitalized and very confusing for her. She didn't remember her license number so, I went to get that for her and helped her with that as well as the payment. When we got to the lab, she found out she still couldn't make an appt. And, she was told when she checked in, she would need to use the express check-in. So overwhelmed, she simply decided it wasn't worth it to get the blood work. She didn't use her SCAN van service as they were already "used up". (We've never used this service, so, not sure how it works or if limits apply.) In that case, since we don't use ours, I would have been happy to "bank" ours in her name. But .. that might have required a boatload of phone calls, filing papers, etc. and so on, only to be told... "we can't do that" or... my favorite... "YOU needed to have sent in this request with form 000XXX to Mr./Mrs./Ms/Miss ? before we can process that...and now it's too late as it needed to have been done by 3 weeks ago last March when you first filed. We are sorry for this 'inconvenience'. We're sorry if you didn't know that. You should have known how this works by osmosis. If we can be of any further help, please call us again so you can repeat this process with the same results. Thank you." And, like what happened to someone else who used to have SCAN; "If you need to exercise futility, try SCAN." I do not doubt that if you are in reasonable health, have your full faculties and are tech savvy, you're golden. If not... well... try a Co. that works FOR and WITH you. Not one that makes the simplest of needs, impossible to solve, especially w/very poor providers with extremely poor social and workplace skills let alone medical skills, as has been our experience, regrettably. What might have made SCAN more "user friendly" would have been having experienced people answering questions. All very nice, but, how many have had the experiences of those elderly who are calling, be it a family member or even, themselves? How many times did we get the wrong information? How many times does it take to find the correct answer to one simple question, if at all? More than we can count. Happy for those who have had great experiences w/SCAN. We did; then, when our senior became "unable" to make decisions, it was all downhill. The treatment of those in this situation is very alarming, and, should be addressed. It's not being addressed. It shouldn't take a grievance process in which you're not allowed to be present at any type of hearing and not even someone there to represent you, your family or loved one. I live in Newport Beach and have had Scan for a year and very happy. My primary doctor recommended it to me over my Cigna plan. I save $219 a month plus all referrals have been excellent Doctors. Scan agents have been very helpful in answering any question I may have an also quick to contact me after my appointments. I get my prescriptions at CVS 2 miles away and the most I have paid for some of my higher tier drugs have been $4.00 for 90 day supply. Most cost $0. I went for MRI 2 months ago the imaging office was 4 miles away clean and very efficient people working there. My appointment was for a Saturday morning the was no wait and was in and out in 30 minutes. Overall I am very happy with Scan and the Doctors that belong to there program. ck beech read more

Beware of this fly by night company, that lies on it's TV ads. First off, the customer service reps know nothing. It took my calling in 4 times to finally get somebody that knew anything. This is not counting all the times my insurance broker called because of problems, and they blew smoke up his butt, because they didn't anything. This includes supervisors. They denied me service on a covered service, and I an still fighting with they, 10 months later. This company sucks, buyer beware!!! Also their mail in pharmacy, I call slug script, because there is nothing express about them. It takes 3 weeks to receive you medication once your doctor faxes it in, that is if their fax machine receives it. My doctors have learned to fax it in twice, since the first time they usually do not receive it, so they say. And their no customer service people are just as bed as scans. If I were you, I would look elsewhere for your health insurance. If you haven't already guessed, I will be dumping scan this open season. Dale read more

Overall, a good Med Plan. Have covered my prescriptions for little or zero costs until recently. Was given prescription for Trulicity. Have been taken for 3 months and it lowered my A1C from 8 to 6. Cost to me was $30 month. Went to refill prescription last week, now $137 month. Apparently Scan has moved many prescriptions to the Tier 3. Have to pass on this med. read more

I had a aneursym,two strokes,they admitted Me and I had great follow up ever since. Scan health is One of the worst health plan,I have ever had,Although I have them for a number of years,I have had to change my PCP multiple times, Each time was worse than the last.Recently,I became ill and went into the emergency room for immediate care,I was diagnosed and was told to see my PCP within 24 hours. Well I phoned the office and was told we don't have any appointments for 12 days.I was appalled,so she offered me a tele -visit.So I took the this visit on 8/6, she treated me in a very disrespectful manner,indicating I needed Prozac; because of my DX,and she laughed, now how disrespectful is that.My in Office was for the 12th. I contacted Scan transportation for the ride to my visit,I was assured that they would be on time.Well it was a no show, so I called and asked "where is my ride"she said didn't someone call you?it was a no show , Wait she said " I will get you another ride, that was a lie, no one showed, I missed the very important visit. The worst part of the story is I drove myself to the office.I was 15 minutes late; in the parking lot,so I called them to let them know, I was late,The scheduler told me we don't take late patients,I pleadEd with her, but she was unsympathetic. She said how about the 23rd, I rejected that offer,I told her I am not feeling well, she said go the emergency room.I was shocked at her demeaning response. I returned home, and asked Scan to please call them and reverse their decision, it was successful in his effort. At this point, I decided to cancel with Scan. After he couldn't obtain the appointment,he said perhaps we can retro your PCP, so you can see a dr. Sooner, this was on Thursday,So he wrote it up, and said their is nor guarantee they will approve it, guess what it was denied, they said wait until the first,do you think they care about your healthcare, they do not, I wouldn't recommend Scan to anyone, and I don't know why they have 4+stars,I am going to report them to managed as well. read more

I switched health plans 3 years ago when my husband died. His group insurance was much more expensive. SCAN has been excellent, close to home, doctors and staff are all pluses. I have no copays for visits or prescription drugs or for 3 months of physical therapy. I have the Classic plan and the Memorial Care segment. read more

I was denied coverage for an ordinary eye exam because 365 days had not elapsed since my previous eye exam. However the "Evidence of Coverage" clearly states that I am entitled to one eye exam per "calendar year". The service rep and her supervisor both "explained" to me that a "calendar year" means "12 months between exams"! I will not renew membership because I don't want to find out how SCAN will revise the coverage to their ignorance and/or whim when more than $45 is on the line. read more

Scan Health Plan is an optimum program for those on Medicare, utilizing the Medicare C Advantage Program. As of this writing, it is open enrollment period until December 7, 2019; Scan is preferred. There are other plans, not Scan, that offer Over-The-Counter "OTC" annual benefits up to $500; yet the OTC items as promised are no longer available, once you sign up. In addition, the co-pays for medications of tier 1 and 2 are three times, or more than what will be provided as compared to Scan. I should know, I was lured away from Scan. In short, if you are interested in getting the Best pricing and benefits for medications, with the lowest co-pays, Scan is the way. Also, Scan does provide an OTC benefit, clearly defining what is offered. Moreover, the customer service team is top notch, they will see any issue you may have to full resolution. My heart doctor ordered a lipid test for my high cholesterol but the insurance won't let him draw the blood at his office. Instead, they made me walk half a mile to Lab Corp which is in an office building layed-out by an idiot. Then, after taking 10 minutes to find their office, they had me use their automated sign-in system which put me in a never-ending loop taking a picture of my drivers license. Nice treatment for someone with a heart condition. I'll be going back to Kaiser for my Medicare insurance next year. read more

Scan reps are not responsive as to what i encountered in two out of three calls and really did not seem to care and were very uninterested and ill-informed. The level of what the reps don't know is surprising and concerning. I only switched to stay with my doctor whom i trust and want to go to. I can't recommend this plan. The television ads relative to scan reps and the service you will get are a joke. You must be your own advocate in this program and explore your options as the reps don't know, don't care. I don't know who they hire but the reps i encountered in the situations are inappropriate at best. I don't have any information as to claims etc in this plan as i have yet to be in that situation. I will be apprehensive when I have to. read more

Between Medicare and Scan, covers everything. St Jude Heritage is our provider. I have excellent medical and coverage. No copay.

I am sitting here in shock as I write this review. I can't believe what just happened. I am a new member and have a prescription for blood pressure medication. I always keep an ample supply and have another weeks worth of meds. I called today to schedule an appointment. No problem - just wait six weeks. WT - six weeks for an appointment and I can't make a doctor substitution. I have two choices 1) Die 2) Go to an emergency room. All I require is a simple 10 minute check-in. I can not put into words my disappointment in SCAN. Foot Note: Before posting this review, I decided to call the sales office and speak to the nice employee who enrolled me. Since she was a temporary employee, she wasn't available. However whoever answered the phone had the presence of mind to call the pharmacy and I spoke to a pharmacist. He advised me to take my medication to any local large chain pharmacy and most likely they will provide a refill for me. After talking to a rational human being I raised my review to show two stars. 02/1302013. I just found out that the problem was with the Subcontractor - and not necessarily SCAN.
