How does one begin to describe perfection? When we set about to replace our concrete driveway with pavers, we had no idea where to begin. We checked online and found many masonry contractors specializing in pavers, but how to decide? Ultimately we got quotes from 5 contractors but chose Scanapico for the following reasons. Professionalism: James Scanapico arrived exactly on time, in a clean, well organized company truck and set about to give us an estimate. He determined our needs, made several suggestions and wrote us out a proposal on a company proposal sheet, unlike one of his competitors who wrote out a proposal on the back of an envelope. Recommendation: When we went looking at pavers at Nicolock's showroom in Lindenhurst, we asked who Nicolock would recommend. We were told without reservation that they would recommend Scanapico. Price: Scanapico's price was very reasonable all things considered. As my dad used to say, "You get what you pay for" Confidence: After we signed the contract with Scanapico, we expected to have to leave a deposit. James told us he did not need a deposit and we would only need to pay him after we were completely satisfied with the job. This was amazing to us. Here is our experience: James told us the job would take 2 days to complete, also amazing. In the scheduled day his crew arrived at 7AM, EXACTLY on time and set to work. It was amazing to watch the swarm of men working. There had to be 6 or 7 men. Each man knew exactly what to do. There was very little conversation; only men working in close coordination. By 11AM the old concrete was torn out, the driveway graded and the border started. At all times either James or his brother Troy was on site. By day's end at least half of the pavers had been laid. The next morning, right on time and in a light rain, the crew arrived, and by 3PM the driveway was complete. While, at the supermarket one day, I decided to not use the self checkout line as I usually did and waited for a cashier. While waiting, I heard the cashier raving about the work that was done to her yard by the gentleman that was in line in front of me. She kept thanking him for his work and even told him how satisfied her neighbor was with her yard since he did that as well. This may have been divine intervention as I have been looking for someone to do my front stairs for over a year. I took a chance and asked for the gentleman's phone number so that I could get an estimate. He listened to what I needed, made suggestions that I am so grateful for and gave me the best looking front stoop. His job exceeded my expectations and what I originally wanted. Mr. Scanapico was also at the job site every day to make sure I was happy with the progress. I cannot believe how good the Nicolock driveway came out. Jamie and his brother Troy are truly awesome. It's great to finally deal with a contractor whose word is his bond. Jamie did everything he said he would to the highest quality levels. Jamie told me Monday he would start on Wednesday and that I'd be kissing him on Friday. I cannot believe that he could get so much work completed in just three days. I did hug him, but he didn't want me to kiss him. The job was 1,650 sq. ft., and complicated. The Scanapico Masonry & Blacktop Company needed to maintain close elevations and pitches to shed water away from my damp basement. He used a transit and maintained all dimensions to extremely accurate levels. The project was well-manned and his deliveries were well-choreographed with RCA, sand, paver coming just in time and in the correct amounts. They worked long hard days. Troy advised us at each step and whenever he needed our opinion. Troy, Jamie, and the entire Scanapico crew were very respectful to me, my wife, and my neighbors. If Troy left the site for a short period, his crew continued working to the same high quality level - never cutting a corner (and believe me, I was watching). At the end of each day, the house and street were left immaculate. These guys are honest and hard working. Their work is top quality. Scanapico's attention to detail is far better than any contractor we have ever used. Amazingly, we did not pay anything until the job was completed. We engaged Scanapico Landscaping Masonry & Blacktop to replace our asphalt driveway and brick walkway with pavers and install a paver side-yard patio with a matching stoop. James initially met with us regarding the work we wished to have done, and offered helpful suggestions regarding what would be best to actually minimize costs instead of trying to 'sell' additional work or options (as other contractors we had met with had done!). James was wonderful throughout the entire process and continually checked progress to make sure we were pleased with the quality of work and that it met or exceeded our expectations. Their team worked each day from 8AM until sun-down and completed the project in 2- 1/2 days! The quality of their work was excellent. Troy, James' brother, was on site for the entire project and not only supervised the crew on all facets of the project, but also worked alongside them 'hands on' to ensure all of the detailed work and cuts were done perfectly. All debris was cleaned up from our property and they even washed down the street in front of our house to remove all traces of construction activities. At the conclusion of work, the crew actually thanked us for the coffee and cookies we provided them each morning (as the temperature and wind made working conditions quite cold). We just had our driveway and patio done by the Scanapico brothers and are so happy with it! Jamie, Troy and their team were professional& skilled, and did beautiful work! We had James, his brother and their crew come do my paver patio in my yard and let me just say, they are phenomenal. From the moment James came to the house to do the estimate, I knew we were going with Scanapico over anyone else. He was very personable and knew his stuff. We had received a few other quotes from other masonry companies but James blew their quote away. What really had me set was his knowledge of the stone and the installation process. Some other company wanted to lay a 4" layer of concrete under the stone which would have prolonged the installation into a 2-3 day project and extra costs. James notified me that the process they were going to do voids the warranty of the stone and it was a no brainer from there. Last week (5/19/16) we had our driveway done by James and Troy from Scanapico Landscaping. The workmanship was perfect, the quality and appearance of the Nicolock pavers was beyond what we expected. I really loved how James designed the pavers and coping for our pool. We have a long 80' driveway and wanted pavers to match the existing pathway to our home as well as a paver patio on the back of our home. James came out gave us a quote and met with me several times in order to guide us in choosing the correct color and pattern. His expertise and professional friendly crew came to our house as planned. As issues about the grading of the property arose about the work that needed to be done, they checked with us before proceeding. They matched the pavers to the pre-existing pathway precisely and it looks seamless. They cleaned up and left the property spotless. It's coming up on 10 years ago that we had Scanapico Brothers do the rear property including our paving pool surround/walkways and steps leading to gazebo. They did an awesome job. They were professional and meticulous and when some little things needed to be addressed they took care of it right away. We looked around and got prices and decided to go with Scanapico! James told us he would call the week of a June 11 to to let us know when they could schedule us but promised the job would be done by Father's Day! On June 11 as promised James called he told us they would be here 2 days later and would arrive at 8am! Again as promised they were here right on time! The job entailed a refacing of the stoop with pavers, walkway, 2 wrap around gardens replacing the bullnose and full paver driveway with a circle kit and apron fan. Last week, we had them remove an old deck, and continue the pavers to connect to the patio they did 2 years ago. They also did our front stoop, and walkway. Scanapico Landscaping did the pavers in my home in early September. I could not be happier the workmanship, the pavers look great. They really helped us with the process of choosing the style and type of pavers. They did the job a great job, they really know their business, and left everything clean. I shopped around and thought the price was very reasonable and quality of work is great! The only thing is that we had to wait a couple of months, they are very busy, but we were okay with this.
