I recently purchased a beautiful solid cherry bedroom set from this store and I couldn't be more pleased with the quality. Ken, knew exactly what model I was describing and knew where it was located in this large store. Chess Movers were very careful setting up my bed and respectful to wear booties when I told them I just had my hardwood floors refinished. Great experience. I have a leather sofa, chair and ottoman I purchased here 7 years ago. It still looks like new and is so comfortable. Definitely my go to place for quality furniture. read more

The Denver location has a giant showroom, with enough space to understand how something will actually look in your home, as opposed to most other furniture stores that cram a bunch of pieces together. The sales people were informative and not pushy. The only downside was that their warehouse isn't open 7 days a week, so we were expecting to pick up our piece on the same day but actually had to come back a few days later instead. Easy to avoid if you check their warehouse hours ahead of time. read more

Indeed some attractive home furnishings are to be found here, yet the durability - quality - service you're likely to encounter here are abysmal. I bought two pieces (1.5k) several years back and now they are nothing more than garbage as the sliders/hinges failed. 12 slides (sliding hinges) on one piece alone. Broken slider in hand, the rude sales rep was bewildered and asked me why I was talking to her and that she could only sell me something. I was quickly ushered away by another telling me where I might buy some new hardware to retrofit the piece. I wouldn't even be able to give this away on Craigslist and I wouldn't even consider burning this chemical-laden pressed wood. You know how when you walk into a Sofa Mart there's a group of vultures lurking just inside the door and when they spot you they follow you around and jump into your conversation and won't let you be? That won't happen here. There's staff around, and you might get asked once if you need help, but there's no pressure. In fact, you're more likely to find them in the basement bitching about their coworkers than circling the entryway looking for fresh meat. The basement's the place to go, by the way, for a big stash of clearance, one-of-a-kind deals. Their furniture ranges from the surprisingly reasonable to the outrageous, in terms of both style and price. You could get a bookshelf for a dorm room or a weird chair/sofa thing that is actually comprised of bar stool tops welded together 7 inches from one another. The place is absolutely HUGE. You can seriously get lost. But a lot of it starts to repeat itself, it seems. Wish we had shopped here for desks for the home office. And wish I could afford that fabulous glass lamp. Seems like Scandinavian Designs and I are just never on the same page at the same time. Three and a half stars. read more

This is a great place to shop if you know exactly what you want and know you won't want to do ANY returns. The average shopper is not like that, at least I am not. My husband and I bought a sofa, chair, coffee table and side table. The actual sales experience was fine. After the sofa was delivered, I immediately knew that I didn't like it in our space. Since it was a custom sofa I knew that I wouldn't be able to return it. I thought, heck I would call anyway. maybe they would do an exchange. I called my sales person and was met with a very clear NO, there is nothing we can do. If you want to buy any additional pieces I can give you 15% off. At that point I was ok with it, since I purchased it knowing I would not be able to return it. Sometimes companies will bend a little for customers, definitely not this company. Then I decided that I didn't like the coffee table and side table... I knew I could return these pieces because they were not custom. I got my receipt out, looked at the return policy... 14 days. I was at 19 days... 5 days over the return policy. I knew they would give me a hard time about returning them, so instead I asked if I could exchange these 2 pieces for the darker wood rather than the oak. I was initially prompted with a "yes" we can do that. Which I was happy about. Then 30 minutes later got a call back informing me that they undercharged me for the 2 pieces and I needed to pay an additional $198 if I want to do the exchange. Uhhh, really?!! I was shocked, I had no idea they under charged me. I told her that I needed to think about that and get back to her. Her response, "you better call me back today since you are already out of the 14 return policy range." So I thought about it... called her back and told her that I did not want to pay an additional $198 to exchange to the darker wood, then asked for a refund on the 2 pieces instead. Since they under charged me, if they take them back they can sell them for the right price, at least make some of their money back. Now I was prompted with a heated, absolutely not! I was outside of the 14 day return policy and they DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS. I'm a pretty calm and reasonable person but at this point I was thinking what the heck?! They are really pissing me off here for no good reason. The sales manager proceeded to say that she needed to escalate this to the store manager and if they even considered taking the pieces back there would most likely be a restocking fee. At that point I said fine, she said someone would call me back tomorrow. Hands down, at this point I am never shopping here again. And I am telling all my friends not to shop here. They did call me back the following day and said they would exchange the pieces for the dark wood and would not charge me the additional $198. Which I was kind of shocked. Regardless, I don't want to have to fight and argue with a store when I want to exchange or return something that I don't like and am doing it within reasonable time limits. Why go through that stress when there are so many other furniture places we more generous return policies. read more

Nice furniture, crappy post sales experience. They did a fine job selling me a desk but they did a bad job with the rest of it. The desk I bought was on back order so I wasn't surprised it took 4 weeks to get it in. I was surprised that I received no communication from them outside of some spam to my email address. I called the store 3 times to check on the status of my order and was assured I'd receive a call when it got in. They did not call, when I called the day after the expected arrival I was told that they didn't call because they didn't know they needed to inform me. The manager was less than sympathetic about my complaint. This isn't the sort of place that puts a premium on customer service. They have decent furniture at a decent price but they certainly aren't going to do very much for you once they have your money. If you use this store don't pay up front if you can avoid it. read more

I bought sectional sofa in Scandinavian Design. The sofa looked like it meet my needs at the story, however after few weeks having it at my home I realized that I don't like it. I got back to the store and told Hanna Rasmuson (my sales person) that I want to exchange it. Hanna arrange me an exchange for another sofa I choose. She waived delivery charges for me as well. Unfortunately the second sofa didn' t meet my expectations as well and I came back to the store and ask Hanna for the exchange. Hanna worked with her manager to wave deliver charges for me second time. Now I am waiting for delivery. Hopefully I will be more lucky with the sofa I chose last time. I would like to thank Rasmuson for being so nice and patient with me and helping me to be fully satisfied with the purchase. read more

We purchased 3 pieces on March 8, have had four scheduled delivery dates so far, tomorrow will drive to Denver to pick up the last piece. First two dates for delivery were complete no call/no show. Third date they arrived with furniture that fell into pieces when the package was opened. Fourth date (yesterday) one piece was delivered, although the third piece is in the warehouse for me to pick up. Manager response, "yes, we're having problems with delivery. When would you like to reschedule?" Helpless, not terribly concerned. read more

I had a great experience with Scandinavian Designs in Denver. As soon as you walk in the store, the staff doesn't pressure or follow you around like other furniture stores. I love the mid-century selections they had, so I ended up switching out my old stuff with new in both my living and dining rooms. Perry was awesome to work with during and after the sale. After my furniture was delivered and in my home for a little over two weeks, I decided the coffee table and the entertainment center was not my style. I called Perry and explained the situation and even though it was past the two week return window, he was able to provide me a store credit for the returned pieces. I was very pleased with the customer service and Perry's attention to making the customer experience a good one. I have referred several of my friends to this store. read more

We bought a ~$2000 couch/loveseat set and after 1.5 years, both couch and loveseat's support broke and we now have two terribly uncomfortable places to sit. Tried to ask SD for repair or replacement and since we were past 1 year Warranty - NO GO. I tried to fix, but SD support system is not the regular replaceable spring set - very custom. We are now looking for a new living room set. Very unhappy and will not buy from SD again. They have good looking stuff - please be sure your model is reliable and it would help if you are a woodworker and/or couch designer so you can eventually fix your own stuff as it will happen. read more

Great furniture - non-supportive sales associates. It's worth it for the furniture, but the sales associates need a class in teamwork and positive attitude. They clearly work on commission as I couldn't get help on a couch I purchased from anyone except the sales associate I worked with and whose name was on my receipt. In fact, I called to get a price adjustment (as it went on sale) and kept getting routed to my original salesman, who was off that day. It takes 2 minutes to do it for me - isn't that what great customer service is? read more

My client ordered a very handsome leather sofa on their website. We love the sofa, but it did take a considerable amount of time for us to get it. The 3rd party delivery company was a joke. Scandinavian Designs online was great in that they offered to refund the delivery fee because of the huge delay. We did finally receive it and are happy with it. The only thing that concerns me a little is that there's a fairly significant gap between the seat cushions. I'm hoping after some time the cushions will relax and they'll come together. That said, it's a very nice looking sofa (Braxten) and looks great in the home. I'd also like to mention that I've been to the Scandinavian Designs in Denver and was delighted to see such great furniture and decent prices. Really LOVED the showroom. It was during a difficult time and everything had to be ordered, but still very lovely furnishings! read more

Fantastic experience after looking at way WAY too many couches. Laura greeted me, showed me the model I found for sale on line and encouraged me to check out their MASSIVE showroom. I'd driven by this store countless times over the years, and had no idea it was so big! The sales people are very low pressure (unlike American Furniture Warehouse... yikes), and the designs are really well done without the sticker shock. I was REALLY impressed with their prices for the quality! I paid $650 for a $1300 couch and can't believe the quality. I went back the next day to purchase the couch and arrange deliver and again, Laura was super helpful and white glove delivery is only $79! 5 days later I had my beautiful couch delivered by some of the nicest guys who called me with updates both the day prior and day of. Overall an awesome experience, and I'll definitely be shopping SD again! read more

What a nice experience. Our salesperson was helpful but not intrusive, letting us browse. Browsing was pleasant as the store is large and spacious. We found a bed frame that works for us and as a bonus, I found a new recliner that I needed for my back. Both items were out of stock, but they were delivered to the warehouse earlier than promised. So far, we are finding the furniture solid, comfortable, and pleasing to the eye. I would recommend this store if you're in the market for quality furniture - do ask about the sales as we saved quite a bit. read more

The Denver Store is the worst. I used to like this company and have purchased lots from them in the past, but I would NEVER buy furniture here again. The salesperson made a mess of a multi-piece order. Then made a mess of the re-order and then delivered damaged furniture some of which I refused to accept. After multiple phone calls and even several calls to the regional manager in Seattle the order still wasn't right or complete. I cancelled the rest of the order for a refund. There are much better companies to deal with in the Denver area and i've Had much better experience with on-line furniture companies who deliver and provide in-home assembly. Save your money and your mind and DON'T EVER waste your time and money on this company. Rick Gladstone the store manager is a mean individual who takes no responsibility for the terrible service provided by his sales person and while the regional manager in Seattle tried to intervene and help, his help was ineffectual. So if even the regional manager couldn't fix an order that was messed up 3 times do you think this company can do anything right? I hope they go out of business. read more

Twice in 2 years we have been ignored by sales persons and felt unvalued when touring around 2 different SD stores (1 store in south Denver (Hampton), the other in Westminster, CO). Not that we need constant attention, but if you're taking 20 min to look at each 'room' in a furniture store and not a single sales person asked to help us with anything, we felt either 1) ignored as women, or as 2) a lesbian couple (which we are). In each situation (2 years apart) when we were leaving the store straight couples were greeted with "welcome, can I help you with anything." Just today when we left the store, we were interested in up to $1000 in bookshelves. SD lost that sale and we will never go in another SD store again. read more

My husband and I stopped in here on a Saturday morning right as they opened. We were on a quest for bedroom furniture. We were the first customers in the door and were greeted promptly. We walked around the store for a bit and I wasn't impressed with the selection or quality of their chests/dressers. A lot of it looked like you had to assemble yourself and it ranged from cheap or incredibly expensive. There really was no in between. The couches and chairs however were expensive but the quality seemed to be there to back it up. We were not helped or spoken to by an employee again until we left. Considering the store was empty, I thought that was a little odd. All in all it's an interesting store and I might consider purchasing a chair or upholstered piece but I wouldn't go back for their wood furniture. read more

You find the most unique style and contemporary straight lined furniture anywhere. All the furniture here is well made, no particle board furniture. All types of furniture, from bedroom, living room, media, dining, accent pillows, chairs, cool floor lighting, armoires, rugs, art, etc. they have it. The entire store is very stylish. They have different tastes too for the not so modern customers. 5 stars for furniture, 4 stars for the rude/pushy service reps. read more

As much as I love the furniture I bought from this store, I would NEVER buy anything from them again due to their poor customer service and arrogant approach I experienced from the staff. From the moment I walked in the door I knew exactly what I wanted and found it all, so it was a quick and uncomplicated transaction for me, but the rep who helped me treated me with such arrogance and in a condescending way that it was a very unpleasant experience. After I paid for all my purchases with CASH and actually brought in my boyfriend as a potential customer, they still treated us as if we couldn't afford their store. What???? I had one item delivered and the delivery guys were phenomenal, very professional, very courteous, but they were a subcontracted company, so their praise doesn't go to Scandanavian Designs. Some of the items I had to pick up from the back-warehouse at the store and the staff there was beyond rude. I don't care if they are the last furniture on the planet, I will never buy anything from them again. read more

I really like the clean lines of many of their pieces but had an AWEFUL experience there. The sales person was terribly rude. The nasty woman, Laura who 'helped' me, asked for photos of what I wanted to purchase (from within the showroom) so she didn't have to walk 100 feet to write down the SKU. She was so rude in fact that I asked her if I was bothering her as I tried to give her my money. To top it off there were only three customers shopping In the entire store. I left feeling so lousy that I called the manager later that day and explained how the whole experience made me feel and she was as gross as the sales person. Her response was 'what do you want me to do?' I kept the purchase Only because it was an amazing sale and I had my heart set on this sofa. I will NEVER step foot in there again!!! read more
