I have been lusting after many of the designs in this store, but no longer. I bought a bar stool. Said stool arrived on time, but in a box. It is nigh on impossible to assemble alone. I have made two goes of it, both ending in bitter words and cursing. Firstly, I was never told I would have to piece it together myself. NEVER. Secondly, this chair was made in CHINA not any country remotely close to SCANDINAVIA. Utter lies. For the amount of money I paid, it should have come pre-assembled at the very least. Never again. We ordered a super groovy sectional in a beautiful indigo blue microfiber fabric that looks like velvet. We worked with Steve and he was awesome. About a month in, we had a problem with the buttons coming loose on the couch. We spoke with another salesman and he said he'd talk to Steve....and he did! Within a few weeks they had contacted an upholsterer who came to our house, re-sewed the buttons and even brought extra buttons. We are very pleased! read more

I went in knowing what I wanted. I traveled 3/4ths of the store before anyone said anything to me. Then someone finally does acknowledge me but in a very passive manor. I ask him a few questions about the bed I wanted and he made me feel stupid for asking. Then I couldn't get rid of him. I didn't want him helping me anymore after that. I almost left so he wouldn't get commission from my sale. I lingered around and went up to the cashier to ask another question and he started helping me. I told him that I didn't want the other guy getting credit for everything I was buying but he still got partial commission. I almost called to complain because of that but didn't. read more

First of all, let me begin with the positive: I love that he furniture I bought which consisted of a couch, love seat and dining room chairs. The quality is quite good, and selection is satisfactory. Delivery was prompt. My biggest issue here was with the customer service. I came during the week, and an associate, Michael, was not very helpful. When I asked a question, he walked in the other direction, and acted like I was putting him out of his way. He seemed completely disinterested in me as a customer. I was referred to this place by a colleague. I was looking at 2 different sets, and he actually wrote up the wrong one. When wanting to buy some dining room chairs, that were on sale , he discouraged me from choosing these because it would cause him a problem having to find a fourth one. A discount was applied, and he said I was $10 short, after spending almost 3k and I said I would walk out. When asked if there was any additional discounts, he balked, and said this is not a car dealership. I needed the furniture or I would have simply left. I came alone, so perhaps there was so,e misogynistic explanation. I told him this was the worst shopping experience I ever had (and I love to shop). When I left, he did not say thank you nor did he ever follow up in any way. I am writing this review to alert the business, that they need to do better in terms of their customer service. Frankly, this service would receive a minus zero. Next time, I will go elsewhere, and not refer anyone here. As mentioned, the furniture is very nice, but it takes people with respect, and dignity to sell a nice product. The focus needs to be on the customer, rather than the salesperson. My hope is that this business will take something positive from this review. read more

Exactly a month ago I did my pilgrimage from SGV to ktown to move in. I completely forgot how expensive moving to a new place would be. I should known since i did it a couple of times when i was a student at UCLA. So big decisions came into play!, what type of furniture, paintings on the wall, bed sets, nightstands etc. Of course all this takes money and headaches trying to agree with your partner, what color, type and decor of things (furniture) you want to have in your one bedroom apartment. Money is an issue! as well. After visiting quite of few furniture stores such as west elm, create & barrel, pottery barn and IKEA!. I was very impressed with PLUMMERS and its selection of furniture. Describing this store in one sentence: Very modern, European look with a touch of "class". It can be pricey, but every weekend they have great sales, which is worth to check out, I ended up buying a bed, with two night stands, dresser and a mirror for less than $900. Then next visit with Frank we bought our dinning table with four chairs and a rug for the living room. So yeah! 60% of our furniture came from this store and so far no defects or things falling apart, good quality, strong, easy to assemble PS don't bother with ikea, pay a little bit extra and make your place look modern, no just a college crib! Service is good, attentive and professional. The only inconvenience about this place I would have to say is that they don't have many on the items in stock, instead you have to wait about 7 days to get it. What you see it is only on display UNLESS you beg the staff to give you what is on the floor for a reasonable discounted price which that is what we did with our TV set unit. read more

After searching at numerous furniture stores, I was greatly impressed by the great buys here. The salesman Kelly was so helpful and friendly. He showed me to what I was looking for, politely let me look on my own for awhile (I hate to be hovered over, and I don't know anyone who buys things that way ) When I noticed a similar item marked down a bit because it had a slight nick, Kelly gave me my item for the marked down price even when I was going to get it anyway. He also called the delivery service personally to make sure I would get my item as soon as possible (tomorrow!! Whoo hoo! ). And I also bought a Japanese screen which I could take with me, and he carried it out to my car for me. The whole experience made me eyeball other items in the store, so I know I'll be back. The only downside, if there is one, is that the location is a bit hidden by the greasy spoon cafe on the street, so you have to look for the driveway entrance. You just do not get this kind of personal service anymore out there. Scandinavian Designs, formerly Plummers sells contemporary and well made furniture. We recently remodeled our condo and wanted to checkout the store after not shopping there for a number of years. It was Christmas and we got the best deal ever! Our sales person Steve is so delightful to work with. They are all nice and have worked there a long time, know what they are doing. Steve went out of his way to get us whatever discount was available. I later went to add on a bedroom set and Mike helped me. He was just as nice and share the credit with Steve. I later was eyeing a vanity to add to my bedroom set and Steve got me a discount for the vanity. The custom ordered sofa has arrived sooner than expected and all of our furniture will be delivered this weekend. We are just so pleased and excited of our purchases. Their stuff is solid and lasts forever. The only room that we did not replace the furniture had a set of Plummers bedroom set from 1985! read more

Lovely store; excellent customer service; knowledgable sales staff. Quentin is fabulous. I was purchasing a houseful of furniture. He was supportive and followed up with me through the whole process. He made it fun to select my pieces and had great suggestions for options. Unfortunately I received one defective piece. Quentin arranged for a replacement immediately when I requested it. Another thing I appreciate is that the sales staff backs each other up. If my sales person is with a customer, one of the others will help. They take care of their customers. This place is so bad for customer service....I was in the store for 20 min and not one person asked to help me 3 sales persons just sat by their computers drank coffee and chatted with each other ...after another 5 min I called on the phone while in the store and watched the sales person answer the phone and answer my questions after he he hung up the phone he made a nasty comment to another sales person ...drive to the west side the sales people are so much better and not so lazy.. read more

Bad experience with this store. I bought a bed set, the Diamante California King bed 77"x89"x46" gray oak veneer high gloss black synthetic leather upholstered headboard consisting of : KJDI163 Headboard. The brand is Italian made ALT, but the quality is awful. Only a few year, the synthetic leather on the headboard has got ripped off already. The synthetic leather feels like a damp paper, too weak to be touched and very easy to be broken. The store says it is only with 1 year warranty and I have to find some way to repair it myself. Not recommend to buy from this store! We think the Italian furniture should be #1, but it is NOT. read more

I shopped around and couldn't find a store that carried modern and good quality furniture until I found Plummers. Loved the selection. I would give them a 5 rating except that the sales people are not the most pleasant to deal with. Minus one star for that. I would have preferred to just order my furniture online instead of ordering through the salespeople. Also, you will usually have to wait a couple of weeks for your order to arrive as they only have floor models...it's well worth the wait though. read more

I bought a beautiful red leather sectional couch from Plummer's that looked great for 2 years. Then, one cushion at a time, the leather started splitting and peeling. The couch is now unusable and heading for a landfill. I've had leather couches in the past that lasted for 10+ years, so I am very disappointed with the quality of this couch. read more

Great store, I appreciate that they have such a wide variety of styles in store. As a designer, I there are times when I need a certain "flair" piece, something one off that a big box store coud not fulfill. Plummers is certainly the place to go for it. I bought a sofa at Plummer's almost 14 years ago. The cushions were sagging but otherwise still in great condition. I called up the store to see if they could make new cushion inserts. They had my purchase in their files but did not carry the sofa anymore. Kelly took the time to track down the manufacturer and provide me with new inserts for FREE! The sofa is practically like new again. Thanks to Kelly, I will not be purchasing a new sofa, although when I do, I will shop at Plummer's again. I am writing to express my satisfaction about the positive experience I had working with Kelly Franett at the Pasadena store. Kelly helped me all the way through the process from ordering- to delivery of my bedroom furniture set. The furniture was a special order from a manufacturer in Oregon. Kelly kept me updated on my order status as the process progressed. Just before my furniture arrived Kelly informed me that the delivery company had spotted some damage on the bed headboard. I was really glad Kelly had alerted me to this information, so I wasn't surprised and upset when it arrived. Upon inspection I found what appeared to be a manufacturing defect. Kelly, on behalf of Plummers, offered to replace the headboard or credit me with a discount on the price. I chose to have the headboard replaced and Kelly put in motion the process to get that done. Very soon thereafter my new headboard arrived at the Pasadena store. I went there to inspect it and found the blemishes were even more pronounced than my original piece. Rather than return the whole bed I decided to accept the offer Plummers had made to discount the price and keep my bed set. I want to say that I am very pleased with the way the Plummers company dealt with this situation and the way Kelly handled the whole process. His follow through, attention to detail, patience and understanding were key to my positive experience in this matter. I thank Plummers and Kelly Franett for your dedication to customer satisfaction.
