Pierre is like your cool uncle who gets it. I come here with frequency every time I hit el super burrito out front for amazing bean and cheese burrito. I walked in just to check things out and found a great simple house clock and bought one and liked it so much bought two more a week later and loved them only to realize the fist clock was lazy or tired and could not keep time. Came in today and simply wanted an even exchange but non were available so I opened for a bigger one and said I would pay the difference. By the time I approached the counter with 2 new cool things for my house he said no charge for the larger clock to my surprise, who does that anymore and I thought for a second and I thought family does that. Pierre and personable sales assistant did it for me and made my day. Thank you for being such a cool quality store with great innovative design that would fit any home. read more

Disappointed in this place. I used to love Plummers. I tried to buy some discounted baby ottomans just needed 4 and they had about 10 and they also said they had about 100 more in the warehouse and yet they still refused to let me purchase the 4 I needed from the floor! They could've easily kept the customer happy and just replaced the 4 I bought! Especially since I was also purchasing a 400$ bookshelf- but since the manager was so unwilling to budge, I opted not to purchase anything! There are so many places to buy furniture, they don't deserve my business and I would not recommend to anybody. Pathetic customer service should not be rewarded. read more

I needed some desks and chairs for the office and chose what I wanted by looking at the website. Our company has bought many items from this store in Pasadena, CA (previously known as Plummers) over several years. They have good quality products and cover a good price range. I was assisted by Kelly who gave me some useful information and suggestions in connection with these and some other items I was interested in for my home. The sales people are not pushy and allow you to look around but are willing to answers questions or assist. Now, they offer free assembly with delivery, which is nice. I was notified of their time of arrival on the day before (prearranged) delivery and was given a 2 hour window. The 2 man crew arrived on time and assembled the 3 'Network Plus Desks' in the office room. The chairs and matching mobile pedestals came pre-assembled. Great customer service and a great selection of sectionals. Anything we asked about, Mike would check out for us - availability of pieces, cost with delivery, even where different pieces of furniture are made. He let us know about a custom sectional that the customer changed her mind on, and we snapped it up for about half the regular price. We've been shopping around at different stores for a few months looking for something perfect, and thanks to Mike, we found it. Great furniture but horrible customer service. Had an appointment with the salesman on a Monday at 12:00 to write up the order and make the delivery arrangements. Salesman didn't show so asked another Salesman for assistance. He acted put out but did help me. We ordered a couch, end tables, lamp and a coffee table and only live less than 2 blocks away but they charged $105.00 for the delivery. The delivery guys were real nice though. Seemed awful high as compared to other furniture stores, especially for the short distance. The couch had a 2 inch tear in the material. When my wife called for the store manager he never returned her calls. She finally made the arrangements with the delivery guy for a replacement couch. Since we really like their furniture we'll just try another Plummers location next time. These guys in Pasadena suck. read more

Service not very good at all, didn't offer much help. The guy was reluctant to change my order, saying, 'i don't want to change the order"...dude, it's only from a left chaise to right chaise...whatever. And my credit card didn't work, took forever to go through. The delivery people were awful too. They called after the time they said they were going to call, AND they arrived way past the 3-hour window they gave me...for $95, what a rip off! Quality furniture, modern designs, and more reasonable prices compared to places like Crate and Barrel. I don't like everything in the store, some designs are just not refined enough. Plummers has great prices but little service. I walked around their store with a friend and no one even tried to talk to us. These days there are so many sales out there for furniture, I dont know why they wouldnt try a little harder to make a sale. A great store with a tremendous variety of good quality furniture at reasonable prices. After shopping for weeks at stores like Ethan Allen, Fedde, Crate & Barrel, Living Spaces, etc., we found exactly what we wanted all under one roof. Clay, the store manager, was very professional and helpful, and when our sofa arrived with a very minor flaw from shipping, he sent the repair team over immediately. The team was superb, and our sofa is brand new again. For the price I was going to pay for a sofa at Ethan Allen, I was able to get a larger sofa, media console, and comfy chair! Both straightforward transactions. Great stuff at fair prices and delivery and pickup occurred without issue when they said it would happen. I stopped by take a quick look years later. This time around the customer service was satisfactory than my previous experience. Though in terms of furniture quality, they are no different to HAUS or IKEA. Yes, my comparison is absolutely correct. Why? Well, design wise... awful. Where do they order these furniture and display in their showroom? You call that Contemporary & Modern? Please! For the past years I stopped by this store time to time and each time full of disappointment. Mainly poor customer services drive me away. Then comes the quality lack of description and very basic knowledge of where it is made of and from. Full of dated design not very knowledgeable sales person. Oh and get this... they charge for $95 for delivery on top a $20 assembly fee and then add to your furniture. If you buy more than one furniture, they charge each assembly fee. So, do the math! What a ripoff?! First time ever, I heard a furniture store charges assembly fee on top of a delivery fee. Say what?!! Are you crazy?? Plummers is still on my bottom of the list in terms of furniture store. Good luck folks, if you enjoy getting ripoff and pay more!! I much rather be shopping at Rapport Inl't Furniture. read more

I began my journey at Scandinavian Designs One June 2, 2018. Walked through the door, really not knowing what to expect since it was no longer plummers. Was greeted by a young man named Clay McDonnell, as we talked about my needs, the journey turned into an adventure. An adventure to help me turn my husbands bedroom into an extremely functional room, with lighting to match. Told Clay my story: caregiver for my husband who is losing his sight, has very little balance, and just needed to be safe in his room. My husband picked the set he wanted from my catalog, and then Clay worked his magic. A beautiful bedroom set of Cherry wood with a queen storage bed. Then one dining chair made of Cherry with black fabric. Yes dining chair because it is solid, high enough for my husband and stable, so he won't fall. ( Clay made double sure, by siting on it himself.) Then came and extra firm mattress with added height (Clay's idea). It was perfect. The lighting: regular light with and led reading lamp attached. My husband could now see to read in bed. We then changed the lamps in the living room to floor lamps with led reading lamps attached. As painful as this was for me, Clay made me feel right at home. No rushing, no sales pitch. Just two people trying to make it better for my husband. An interaction that was so genuine that I told Clay I needed lamps for me. My room as I was dealing with cancer, and I needed lighting that gave me peace at the end of the day. Bess 3-lite table lamp with amber glass shades was just perfect. One problem: one shade had a defect. Not a problem, Clay simply ordered and exchange. I must have gone back to the store a dozen times, buying even more. To Clay I was never a bother. Final purchase came June 27th. Yes almost a month of shopping at Scandinavian Design all because of one soft spoken young man, who had his customer's concerns first. If you shop here, look for him. I don't like all of their design, but the classic Scandinavian teak in the new catalogue looks great. Over the years I've purchased for myself and for the office their Royal bookcases, with great success. I'm only disappointed that they dropped the white finish at the time when I wanted to go in that direction. The adjustable shelves are thick, strong, and do not sag (not noticeably, after 15 years--Ikea doesn't compete, and other sources are unspeakably expensive. I've always had great service from their staff and delivery people. read more

I have been a customer for years. Love that they have a selection of current styles that are also solid, sensible and affordable. Customer service is great. They are there when you need them but otherwise they leave you alone. With the recent purchase of a dining set, two chairs had minor defect. It took a few months for the new chairs to arrive and I thought they had forgotten all about it but I received a nice phone call letting me know the new chairs were available for the exchange. Horrible customer service. Went to Plummers 10 minutes before they closed just to scope out their bar stools. No one greeted us. In fact, they made it known that we only had a few minutes left. I give Plummers five stars for their prices and quality. But I deducted two stars for bad customer service. Our couch set was supposed to take three months to arrive, it took almost four and a half months. When we would call Plummers, they were not very helpful and would say they had no idea when it would arrive. When our set finally did arrive, the couches were made out of different leather and didn't match. Plummers had to re-order one couch, which took another three and a half months. So it took eight months to get our complete setting. This did happen a while back, so things may have improved. But keep in mind you may be waiting a long time for your couch. read more

Wow I don't even know where to begin with explaining how great my experience was at this store today. I had originally gone to West Elm, but so many things I wanted wouldn't be shipped until December and a lot of it was so expensive. But SD not only has a $99 delivery fee, but most of the installations were included in that fee. They also have takeout service to help you get rid of your old furniture, which West Elm didn't provide. I was helped by Clay today, and he made this process unbelievably easy for me. He explained all the discounts and deals they have, he's very organized with checking inventory immediately and letting me know how much each piece would be with the sale. He was also just very good at recommending pieces that would flow well with the furniture I selected. He was so patient letting me see the furniture over and over again and even helped me move chairs around so I can see how they would look with the dining table. He was just clearly very knowledgeable about the products, and it made me feel better about purchasing them. Clay is awesome, and if you come here you should definitely ask for his help! And the best part is most of my items are going to arrive by this week, everything will be installed for me, and the price is so much more reasonable than other places I've been to, especially considering the quality and beauty of the designs. Seriously, I am so happy with everything and I literally bought everything I needed from this one place. 10/10 recommend!! read more
