When we first walked in, we were advised to just seat ourselves anywhere. When we sat down, no one came by for about 15-20 minutes. It turns out you have to place an order at the front and they bring out food. Food was served on a disposable plate and coffee was served in a takeout cup. Food was just ok. Service could've been better. It wasn't even that busy. Staff at the front should explain to customers how the ordering process is as soon as they walk in. read more

The cherry pie at Scaturo's is the best cherry pie I've ever tasted, full stop. In a town that's known for cherries, this Door County bakery might be the best place to get a slice of cherry pie. I'm reluctant to make that audacious claim because, true, I haven't tasted ALL of the cherry pies on the peninsula. However, if you asked me where I'd go to get a slice of pie, I'd say Scaturo's. Along with the pie, literally everything else I ate at this cozy restaurant was delicious. I had a hot ham and cheese sandwich on a garlic roll that was off-menu (but if you see it pop up as a special, you need to get it). I had a cup of the soup of the day, which was a vegetable number that I didn't get the name of (perhaps minestrone?). My buddies and I also ordered a couple of pizzas, because Scaturo's is known for their pizzas. These are New Jersey-style pizzas, with hand-tossed crust. The thing is, they only make pizzas Monday-Friday, from 1 p.m. until they close. So plan accordingly! If you're going to get a pizza, I suggest the Fat Tony, which is a red sauce pizza topped with bacon, pepperoni, crumbled sausage, rope sausage, mini meatballs and a drizzle of pesto sauce. Each pizza is 8 slices and is more than enough to share. This was my favorite pizza. A close second was the chicken Alfredo pizza, which is a white pizza that's ooey gooey. Scaturo's is a restaurant and a bakery, so you can visit for a sit-down meal like I did, or just grab something from their bakery or refrigerated case -- they have meals like baked ziti and chicken parm ready to take and bake at your home. The bakery case is stocked with things like pie slices, cookies, danishes, brownies, turnovers, scones, fritters, cinnamon rolls, donuts, muffins and lots more. read more

Our usual brunch spot was unexpectedly closed on a recent trip to Sturgeon Bay and we needed to find somewhere for 15 people quick. Online food pics for Scaturo's looked like what we were craving so we gave it a try. It was a roomier place inside than it looked from the street so we were all comfortable. You have to order at the counter or with a QR code; the menu doesn't include beverages so you have to go to the counter to get a flimsy paper cup of very ordinary coffee. Their standard toast tip is 20% for no service. They have food marked as Vegetarian, though all of it includes cheese and dairy products. Hash browns are cooked on the meat griddle. Your food is served on a compostable paper plate. This was once a great real restaurant and it seems to me the people standing around could learn to wait tables. Their "biscuits" are more like a very small dinner roll. The staff was kind when I took it back and brought toast instead -- so I basically paid over $20 for a cup of fruit and two slices of bread and some diner style flat scrambled eggs. Very very disappointing. Especially if you have people with food preferences or food allergies, choose literally anywhere else. They brought me some free cookies as a sort of apology; I left them on the table, ungraciously, because I didn't want chocolate melting all over my car in the 80+ heat. I know they meant it kindly, but a refund or asking me if I wanted a bakery item would have been kinder, and the inclusion of a peanut butter cookie underscores the fact that the staff has no training in food sensitivity or allergy read more

Husband and I stopped by here for breakfast/brunch and it is truly a gem. It's like stepping back in time a little and like you're in your grandma's kitchen, it just makes you feel cozy. I got a cherry sangria, French toast topped with cherries and whipped cream, and a cheesy hash brown casserole side. This was entirely too much food for one person, but I loved every bite. The cherry sangria didn't taste strongly of cherry, for better or worse, but still very tasty. The French toast was delicious! The cherries were very sweet, but they really were the perfect topping with the whipped cream - I didn't even need maple syrup with it! The cheesy hash brown casserole was one of the best breakfast potato sides I've ever had. It was big, warm, so cheesy, and the cornflake topping was the perfect crunch to go with the creamy and cheesy potatoes. I could've eaten several of these as my main dish alone! My husband got the breakfast special with bacon and enjoyed his meal a lot. It was a lot more reasonable for one person (but I wasn't complaining about my leftovers!). We stopped for a late lunch. We ordered the Italian hoagie, 30 year hoagie, and Italian BLT. All the meats used were excellent and the toppings were fresh and rounded out the sandwich. The bread was top notch! Each sandwich came with a creamy pasta salad which was very flavorful. We also ordered some cookies which were wonderful. Warm and welcoming staff greated us and served our sandwich. The tables were clean and the Cafe had a rustic atmosphere. A must stop when in Sturgeon bay! read more

I recently had breakfast at Scaturo's. The service is walk up to order (or use the QR menu) pay, find a table, and your food is brought out to you. Service was fast and friendly. Food was good but not necessarily all great. I had the Sicilian omelet which had a lot of tasty Italian style sausage. It was good but a bit dry for my taste but I like eggs a bit more runny than most. Hash browns and biscuits were good; however, two in our party had biscuits and gravy which I sampled and found the gravy gluey and without a lot of flavor. We sat in the patio which was nice although a bit hot (the interior has A/C). All in all a nice experience and I woukd definitely return. read more

Stopped here on our way home from Door County. Cute little restaurant with a great bakery! We grabbed a table and scanned the QR code and ordered our food. It came out very quickly! I had the meatball and it did not disappoint! Fresh baked & toasted hoagie roll with lots of delicious sauce & melted mozzarella; and a healthy amount of meatballs - could've shared it was so large! I ended up buying some of their homemade to-go meals that you can heat up, along with some fresh baked bread - so good! Delightful quaint family run bakery and restaurant. Stopped for some Door County cherry pies while heading back to home. The aroma in the parking lot made my mouth water. Once inside the smell of breakfast, fresh coffee and bakery made us feel at home. My only regret was we hadn't discovered this place sooner. The breakfasts looked as incredible as they smelled. Ambiance was cozy and energetic. Friendly family banter between those behind the counter made me smile. We had the breakfast omelettes the Green and Gold and Sconnie 2.0; both were excellent French style omelettes. The portions the perfect amount leaving the patron wanting nothing else. Service is friendly and quick with young local folks sharing big smiles. Ambiance is that of a warm and inviting bakery that just happens to have a French style Cafe with interior dining rooms in front, back and exterior garden seating outside. The most amazing place EVER!! Came here with my husband for our "baby moon", at first, I was worried it's going to be hard to find good food at a small town, boy was I so wrong. So many places, including this one, are so good and taste super CLEAN. I don't know how to describe it. Maybe we are just having too much process ingredients in restaurants in the city, but here the bread tastes different. We tried some soups and meat ball and cheese steak sandwiches plus the burrata salad (we were here for lunch twice in a roll) everything is amazing. I totally regret not trying their pastries, we were just too full both times to even look at dessert, but will definitely come back and give it a try. Have eaten here twice and have had pretty good meals both times. I highly recommend the BLT on Honey Wheat... an excellent sandwich! I was not impressed however with the white bean chili. Very bland for chili, the meat lacked flavor. I actually had to salt it to give it some life. Another little thing that was a let down was an automatic charge for using a credit card. I get it, card companies are charging them a fee. But I didn't see any signage (not saying that there might have been some) and this might be the first place I've seen that charges a percentage of your bill. It was just annoying. read more
