I stopped in for a doughnut and coffee and was blown away at the selection of pies and pastries there were. The cases were filled with doughnuts, cupcakes, creampuffs, pies, and more. The cherry fritter I got was delicious. Fresh is best and it was only a couple hours old. The coffee was fresh and piping hot. I got a vanilla cream flavor. They also have a nice deli with lunch meat and deli salads. There is an ice cream shop which was closed for the season. It will open up when the weather gets nicer. The menu on the wall has me waiting in anticipation for spring. There is a walk up window for the ice cream shop. FYI: Try to use cash or check. There is a $5.00 charge for all debit and credit transactions.

The entire storefront is glass window facing the east, so it is brightly lit and gives you a nice view of the city. The dining area is filled with art, some of which was created by a family member of the owner. The drawings are for sale also. There is a small selection of jewelry and souvenirs for sale as well. Toward the back there is an upright piano a couple guitars which belong to the children who will sometimes come out and play. They have a complete breakfast menu and several lunch items. The café is only open until 2pm so the menu leans toward breakfast. Coffee, cappuccino, lattes, and hot chocolate are their specialties. Everything is made from scratch in that delicious home cooked style. as the previous review stated, the hash browns are great. A must have here. We were there early on a Saturday morning in February and were the only customers. We got to know the owner and the history of the coffee house. They are super friendly. The wait time may be a little longer than you'd expect from a large restaurant because they only have 1 cook. If that turns out to be the case let me tell you it's worth the wait. I would list this as one of my favorite breakfast places.

That is; one wrong sandwich; one missing, (but charged for) strawberry topping; one wrong drink order; & another served with a bun instead of requested bread type. After delivering our entrees, she never came around to check on our needs such as coffee/drink refills or meal satisfaction. Well after eating, she did deliver our tabs, but never indicated whether she would collect our payment or if we needed to "pay at the window." It's not like she was overwhelmed with customers as we were one of two occupied tables in the place. One of which she sat down & chatted with that consumer. Each of us did walk to counter to pay our tab in cash, yet she followed us out to the parking lot and accused us of stiffing her for one of the tabs. Wondering if management changed hands as I ate here about six weeks ago and was overwhelmingly pleased with the quality, quantity & pricing of my order. The young man who served our group was so pleasant, attentive & genuinely accommodating. Although the taste of food this time was okay, it was not of the quality we recalled, and the service was definitely reason not to return.

While mainly about ice cream, the burgers are also pretty good served on a unique crispy home-made style bun. There are tables all around and the water isn't too far either. Going up to the window, we ordered the cherry frosty. The women responded with "you know that's the syrup, right?" I am not sure if it was a long day, but looking back she seemed a bit short. This was double downed when we received our order. Which was completed in a timely manner. I looked at the scope of ice cream expecting something a little different. Rather than her asking or showing any concern, it was - "I said it was a Sunday." I'm not one to ever argue with the one that makes my food so I smiled and grabbed it. Also, a note about tipping culture. If you expect/ want a tip, than give singles back so the person is more inclined to tip. If you just give a five or a ten back, don't expect them to tip more then what they paid for. The icecream with cherry was very good. Unfortunately, I don't see us coming back to this establishment. Seems a little pricy for what we got. Plus the service was a side of sour.

I guess it's too early for fresh corn even though it was sold at the market it was not from Wisconsin because it is too early. So that was a little disappointing, thinking I was getting fresh corn.

Sarah was so accommodating and easy to work with--she dropped the cake off at the assisted living facility where my grandma lives and the cake was a huge hit! My grandmother loved the flavor of the cake and said the decorations on top were lovely. Note: smash cakes are usually for first birthday parties so the kiddo can destroy a cake and everyone else gets to actually eat cake, but they're also the perfect size to give to a person who lives alone! I don't think my grandma understands what smash cakes are, but she certainly wasn't aware that was the original intent of her cake--chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and salted caramel buttercream. I've been hearing about it every single time I talk to her. Next time we need a special dessert for a family event, I'm recommending Flour Girl. I've been telling my family who live in DC about it!
