Highly recommend getting a Cuban Coffee. You can't find that anywhere and the opportunity to drink up some Bustelo should not be missed. It's strong, sweet, and nutty. So good. Only downside was that there was too much milk in the iced Cubano con Leche so it lost most of its coffee flavor. Also had a chorizo breakfast burrito which was nicely spicy! The place is really cute. The bathroom was decorated so adorable! It was hot inside the restaurant with no circulation though. It's an old house with old chairs to sit. We sat at a counter towards the back. We are inside because it was early October & wanted to avoid bees. I think there were more bees inside though. My latte was delicious. Just left this place. Choose it after reading the reviews about a good waffle. It was a bagged waffle. Definitely not freshly poured. We buy these for the kids at home from St. Pierre's. It was cold. No bacon in the waffle and just crumbles on top. Waited almost 45 minutes for what could be prepped in a couple minutes. One of us had a quesadilla. The draw was the avocado. They ran out of avocado and didn't tell us until they delivered the food. Which was served a solid 5 minutes after the waffles Then as we were eating we heard someone taking an order and offering the customer avocado with their food. While on vacation in Sturgeon Bay my husband and I would walk from our airbnb here to get some coffee. On the inside the place has a cute homey vibe. The outside has a variety of seating that is under a tree so it provides plenty of shade! For drinks we got the cold brew, pistachio latte and a latte with lavender and honey. Very quick coffee shop inside a house. They have some indoor seating and outdoor seating. We were there on a rainy day and it did get really hot inside. They have a large menu for both drinks and food. I had an iced tea both days I went. It takes about 5 minutes as they steep the tea when you order. My friends got espresso drinks and on Saturday morning it did take 25 minutes for their drinks to be made which was the only down side. The honey lavender oat latte and the dark roast were both amazing. The honey lavender oat was beautifully prepared with the honey and lavender both jockeying for first place on your palate. The dark roast drip contained rich ancient flavors served piping hot in a ceramic mug. I pride myself on leaving five star reviews for businesses. I've been leaving reviews on yelp and Google for over 20 years. If a business is not up to par I always speak with the manager directly rather than leaving anything less than a five star review. That was not possible with this particular business. Here is my experience... The last time I visited this coffee house was before Covid. We do not live indoor county. It used to be our favorite place when passing through Sturgeon Bay and we really enjoyed the ambience the food, the coffee and the staff. My family and I drove through Sturgeon Bay on Sunday, June 30, 2024 approximately 2 PM. Upon entering the café, we noticed there were a group of teenagers off to the right looking at knickknacks, but not at the counter ordering. I stopped forward and asked one of the random workers a question regarding the menu. The person I spoke with did not speak very good English and walked away. My first question is why would the owner employ someone who cannot communicate in English? No one came out of the kitchen area to greet us, and there was no one in the general vicinity who offered to help us. I said hello to one of the young gals walking by the cash register area. She gave me a weird book and seemed aggravated that I stopped her to say hello. She wasn't doing anything in particular. My husband and I asked about the menu. She kind of barked at us and did not seem friendly on any level. There were about three other very young girls working in the kitchen vicinity that looked out at us like a bunch of raccoons, but no one said hello, no one greeted us. No one came out to answer questions no one offered any customer service. We were appalled! This place must be under new management since we were there before Covid because the service back then was stellar and right now it is literally down the toilet. My sister walked in a moment later and tried to flag down one of the girls to also ask questions and to order a coffee, but no one would wait on her. I had already walked out and was going back to the car because there are so many places indoor county I thought why would I give this place my business if they're going to treat us like dirt. My husband also agreed that they were extremely unfriendly and unfit to work in customer service or at a front register at a restaurant. My sister and her family could not find anyone to help them and also commented. She thought the staff was very unfriendly so she eventually wandered back out to the car. We all left in different vehicles and went on to the next town and found a different restaurant. Attention owner if you're not there, let us enlighten you on what's going on. The people that you have put in charge of your beautiful restaurant are running it down into the ground by not offering any type of customer service. If the management and the staff don't choose to work, my recommendation is to let them go and hire new people that actually would like a job. Or put up a vending machine so people can simply put their coins in the slot and get their coffee. What you have going on right now at your café is completely unacceptable. My family lives near Sturgeon Bay and my sister and I both work in customer service. We understand how important it is to take care of clients. Just to be clear no one took care of us at your cafe. My husband and I tried several times to communicate with your staff that was working that day, and no one was willing to speak with us or take our order. Absolutely ridiculous! Such a cute spot for breakfast/lunch with plenty of character and eccentricity! They have a pretty expansive menu with lots of options for drink, food, and baked goods. Really kind staff and pretty efficient service especially considering how busy they were on the sunday morning we were there. We tried a couple of drinks including the chai, miel latte, london fog, and pistachio latte and all were really good, especially the pistachio latte that didn't taste artificial or overwhelmingly sweet. We tried one of their daily soups which was good but a little cold when we got it, although the staff graciously heated it up for us upon request. Their breakfast slidies sandwiches were good too, especially the sauce that it came with. I do wish we had tried their burritos or quesadillas as it seems like those are the real menu standouts. I really like stopping by 5th and Jefferson when I am staying in Sturgeon Bay. It is an above average cute coffee shop in the area. You can order either inside or outside (I have yet to be inside because I have my dog with me) but the outside dining area is super cute and cozy. Their iced, unsweetened matcha is one of the best I have ever had! I had almond milk with it and it was just delicious. I also ordered one of their breakfast burritos with bacon and peppers. I would say that the burrito was good, not great. There was a ton of bacon but not much egg... I would have loved some more scrambled eggs in there to really make it feel like breakfast. The wait time for a drink or food order is anywhere from 5-15 minutes (so expect to be there for a bit), but the service is friendly. They even gave my dog a pup cup when they saw her! My spouse and I took a vacation to Sturgeon Bay, and due to my unfortunate homework load, I needed somewhere to sit and write not one but four assignments. 5&J was the perfect spot! All the employees were amazing, especially Anna. We had some delicious coffee and amazing food! I particularly liked the Llama latte, which is maple and cinnamon. The decor there was amazing, there really was something to see everywhere! Lots of places to sit and drink your coffee, my only complaint is the lack of outlets (understandable due to it being in an old house. Did I mention it's in an old house? Love it!). This place has two great things going for it: 1. The coffees and drinks are superb 2. The atmosphere, sitting/dining areas both indoors and out are pleasant and add to the experience For those two alone, you should make a plan to go when they're open and support this honest business. Im dinging them for a couple of things though. They appropriately cautioned a 30 min wait on food... fine. We were in no hurry. But all my wife ordered was an avocado ciabatta toast, it came out in 40 and was two small pieces of ciabatta with avocado spread. I guess the wait compounded the poor experience of finally getting what turned out to be a small portion. Second thing I guess is the hours and days.
