It seems silly, but they are one of the main reasons this is my most frequented theaters... don't judge me. Lol. Where are they middle of the road? Cleanliness can be hit or miss. Some stuff is a little outdated, but I do believe they are working on that, there were new chairs going in recently. The food menu is hit or miss. I feel like out of all of the Regals that are in the area, they seem to not have what I am looking for most often, some of that is because I am here the most, but some of that seems to be an ordering issue or maybe Regal forces certain menu layouts even if a theater doesn't have those offerings... I am looking at you elusive Tandoori Popcorn. Last, but not least, is something I'll mention, but won't dock them any stars for, the location. I never personally feel uncomfortable here, solo or with company. I have had 2 partners that have said they would come with me, but not alone. I have also witnessed a couple of fights here. In this theaters defense, they can't help where they are located or who is around. In addition, they do a good job keeping security officers here, and I do believe they take customer safety seriously. Security seems to be responsive and I have seen them do everything from deescalate someone in the lobby, to deal with chatty/loud movie goers. Usually they are just a quiet presence and everything is smooth. There are less and less theaters in the area as time passes, I recommend supporting any theaters you can.

Because I've gone to Regal's Monday Mystery Movie a few times, I thought I'd compare the two events. IDK when the next Mystery Movie will be, but last night the next Secret Cinema was said to be scheduled for July 14. That would be Bastille Day, if I'm not mistaken, so maybe the movie will be an old French film, or something set in France. Maybe The Pink Panther. No way to know in advance. I did find out on June 8 that Secret Cinema does not show new movies, but went anyway. (The TCM channel is one of my favorites.) Last night The Wizard of Oz was shown on the big screen, after a short talk about the film. Tickets for Secret Cinema are $10 and concessions are half price. Or maybe that's just for popcorn. I'm not sure because all I got to drink was a 20oz bottle of Aquafina, which was $5.50. If you enjoy old movies, "old" being anything from vintage to classic, you will want to check out Dipson Amherst's Secret Cinema. Always a Tuesday night.

Anyone can participate, students, groups, organizations, families, and individuals. It is a free event and attendees have the opportunity to vote for their favorites. This year hosted a little more than two dozen participants. I know that the Albright-Knox is closing for renovations, but I really hope to see this event grow with even more entries when the museum reopens and this event happens again.

Ring the buzzer and they will come let you in (be patient, sometimes they may need to walk to the door from the other side of the building). The staff is friendly and helpful, and happy to answer questions. There is a wood shop, a metal shop, a fabric area, a Cricut machine, embroidery machine, 3D printer, laser cutters, and all kinds of other interesting tools to make stuff. They offer classes, and let people use the tools after taking safety classes if you show up during open shop hours when the supervisor of the space is there. They rent out small spaces as incubators and offer classes and guidance for growing businesses. If you have ideas of a thing you want to make, chances are there is somebody here who can teach you how to make it. The organization is very much based around community and sharing knowledge. If you are at all curious, I highly recommend the tour.

So far I've had the opportunity to make a shot glass, make some jewelry and learn the history of glass beads and play with 3D printing. As I mentioned previously the Foundry the incubator for a variety of business that make their home here. I recently attended the holiday market where a number of the vendors that make the Foundry home were open and many visiting crafters. Many if not all of these vendors host a class or two that for a reasonable price you can get hands on to learn a new skill. So far I've taken 3 and I can tell you these classes are small, intimate and really give you a hands on experience that really makes the class worth it. Some of these resident creators include a company that makes pucks and baseballs into bottle openers, a metal worker, glass blower, jewelry maker, a wooden frame bicycle maker and a man that makes bird feeders that resemble Frank Lloyd Wright windows. Most of them have etsy or other stores to browse what is available for purchase. For me, The Foundry is about creation, creativity and the access to be able to taken part in it. To work with skilled craftsmen, hear their stories, get tips while making something in the process. So check out a class or 10, it's worth it!

For a solid year, I wanted to go to a first Friday at the AKG. We went through check in, where you had to fork over a suggested donation (instead of the usual 22 dollars). They take card, though we gave cash, which seemed like an easier way to exercise the discount. They offered an extra paid section to opt into for an extra 8 dollar charge that we turned down, taking our tiny tags. They're dinky and reusable and gotta attach somewhere to your person. She had also given me a wristband for the strap of Duckles, which had to be checked by a second girl who warned me that I could not wear my knapsack on my back. Could make it a tummy sack or an elbow purse to avoid bumping things, which is how I ended up cradling a stuffed duck around the museum. We hadn't nabbed a map and thought we could wing it. There are qr codes scattered about for info beyond the placards and finding where you have landed. We lucked out and scored a paper map abandoned on one of the numerous benches (there's also chairs and pull out chairs hanging for your resting pleasure) that we attempted to read. My directionally challenged self asked one of the security to send us off to the bridge, given two choices of route. We dodged the scenic way for a temporary outdoor escape, passing more art. Popping back inside we absorbed even more subsets of time and genre, respecting drawn boundaries and only touching things that said we could. There were things that touched us, our souls, that we could take photos of. There were also bizarre things and a bit of nudity. It's all art, including the special presentations and live music and everyday artists sketching in the hall. There was an interactive exhibit in the main that we skipped in the name of rumbling tummies, though we didn't try the cafe. Also avoided the gift shop, cutting out as the crowd began to swell around 6. The place was impeccably clean despite the abundance of windows and smudge worthy doors. It was worth coming out, though I'm unsure how often the exhibits rotate. Come see an authentic famous few and many more that'll have you saying the Albright is pretty *alright*.

It's a beautiful space with a nice collection of fine arts. There is a new, three-story extension, a whole new building actually. So, be sure to have plenty of time to explore everything. Their website is very informative and easy to navigate. Check out the current special events and exhibitions. Currently, among others, on display is the "One with Eternity" by Yayoi Kusama, which includes her two Infinity Mirror Rooms and "Pumpkin", a giant orange pumpkin in an orange room covered with black dots. Tickets for this exhibition must be purchased separately and are valid for specific time slots. If there is a big crowd that day, wait a little and don't come from the beginning of your time slot (or figure this out by yourself). We had to leave and come back after a ridiculous experience. Waiting twenty minutes in line to see the actual installation for forty five seconds!? It was very confusing, and I believe there must be a different way to actually enjoy Kusama's work. We came back to see the second room with no wait, but still, with the forty five seconds rule. Ugh... Yes, let's loop if this is the only way which works. Don't forget, the general museum admission is free on the first Friday of the month, and I like that price.

For this play our seats were on the very top balcony. This means 4 flights of stairs!. Ha ha, you better be in shape for that walk. It was high up but ee actually had a perfect view of the stage. Shea's is celebrating it's 100 birthday and up until this point has had no elevators. They're now in the process of adding an addition which will include elevators. Since it's an addition it won't take away from the original charm of the building. If somehow you live in the Buffalo area and have never been to Shea's you really need to check it out. At 6 the doors were finally opened to sit down and hear about the season. It is now 6:15. The organ is still playing; there is no evidence of someone coming out to talk about the '26-'27 season. There are vendors in the lobby, selling beer, water, wine, popcorn. Nothing complimentary. 6:32 and the first speakers have appeared. Very disorganized. The presentation was a bit lengthy, but very nice. Each of the seven shows in the subscriber series was introduced. Guest artists performed songs from two musicals in the subscription: "Sound of Music" and "The Great Gatsby". There are three additional shows which are not part of the subscription, but to which subscribers can purchase tickets ahead of the general public. The presentation lasted about an hour.
