Admiring the beautiful architectural design inside the North Park Theater on Hertel before the movie starts!

The North Park Theater is the perfect choice for a date night or even a fun night out with others or solo! It has that old theater charm with beautiful architecture. The movies change weekly and you can watch the trailers on the North Park site. I love the selection of movies and they even offer family matinee options usually on weekends as well. Popcorn, drinks, and candy are available too. Stop by the North Park Theater in the heart of Hertel Avenue soon and you will be back because it's an enjoyable yet fun experience!! Many restaurants are near by for before it afterwards also.. #supportlocal

A HIDDEN GEM. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a private yet classy date night. This local theater stole our hearts with its historic charm. It felt like we took a time machine back in time and we loved every second of it. From the timeless interior with paintings on the ceiling to the memorable lights in the front, this has been our favorite date in months! Will definitely be coming back soon!

This was THE theater to go to when I was little. I didn't appreciate it then like I did tonight. I haven't been here in about 34 years. It is such a Gorgeous theater. It only shows 1 movie at a time, which is fine by me. The staff was very friendly. Unfortunately for tonight's movie "Weathering With You" (an anime with subtitles), they were supposed to have Japanese posters & snacks, which they were out of. My son & I were very bummed. We both wanted posters. I bought a large Diet Coke & it was $4.50. Cheaper than I expected. The theater was clean & quiet. The lights were perfect & the architecture is just purely AMAZING !! The sound & picture of our movie was of much better quality than that of Regal Cinemas or AMC theaters. I would absolutely love to go to another movie here. The tickets were a bit much, but going back to my childhood theater & seeing a great movie in such a beautiful place, with my son, was so worth it !!!!!

I remember my first time going to the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda, NY. Don't remember what movie(s) I saw, but loved the "old-timey" experience and ambiance, from the balcony, to boot! And super loved the Wurlitzer rising from the orchestra pit to enthrall the audience with a short concert. Until last night, I had no idea the Riviera was a sister to the North Park Theatre. Last night was the Renovation Party to celebrate the end of six years of remodeling. North Park on Hertel is a charming historic theater and will celebrate its 100th year in 2020. I've included some photos that show a bit of the baroque and art deco themes of the theater. Seating capacity is 600. All but about a dozen seats were filled last night for the party and first night of Rocketman. North Park is a perfect venue for large group events, but is first and always the quintessential neighborhood theater. Rocketman was the perfect film to celebrate the renovations because, like Elton John, North Park Theatre is still standing, and hopefully will be for many years to come. On a personal note, I must say best movie viewing is middle rows to front, so that you will have to look slightly up at the screen. The back rows, although elevated, leave something to be desired should someone with a big head sit in front of you. (I'm not saying that's what happened.)

I've had my eye on this theatre for quite some time and when I realized they were showing a movie that a friend and l were interested in, I decided to go see it here. I'm SO glad that I did! I love how well the theatre has been restored, I literally felt as if I was stepping back in time. It was different thoroughly enjoyable. It wasn't crowded at all and while I enjoyed that, I wish that more people would opt for this particular movie viewing experience. The location is really ideal being that it is on the Hertel strip, it's so easy to just grab dinner or coffee, before or after your trip here to the theatre. We're fortunate to have little gems like this in our area. I definitely recommend going to check the North Park Theatre out and see what you've been missing.

North Park Theatre is a gem on Hertel. Recently renovated, it shows all the grandeur of old fashioned movie theaters. Be sure to come a little early so you can enjoy the restored ceiling. No reclining seats here, but enough legroom to make it comfortable.

I'm feeling a little North and would like somewhere to Park it.

Owned by Oliver North, Edwad North-ton, and Peter North (er), this gorgeous movie theatre in the olden style, dominates the wonderful neighbourhood of Hertel with its excellent yellow-and-white with red-writing awning marquee thingy. Everyone I know (and not just hipsters) loves coming here to see movies. I'm sad that I've only been about 3 times in my life, but I intend to come much more in the future. I hope it stays here forever. It's slightly on the high side price-wise for me, but then so is every other movie theatre, and I'd rather contribute to a place like this than some corporation like Regal and AMC. However in all honesty, if it were cheaper, I'd go much more often.

Nice way to spend a cold Sunday afternoon with a good friend. It was my first time at this theater but my friend who accompanied me had seen Saturday Night Fever here way back when! Purchased tickets at the box office although buying online is an option. It's a small place so the employees multi task, had to wait for the concession stand to open because the girl was cleaning the theater, no big deal there. Love the personal touch vibe that gives off. The theater itself is quite grand. I mean walking in was impressive. They must've done a fantastic restoration because my friend said it was just as she remembered, with better seats. It didn't seem as though there's a bad seat in the place. Aside from missing a recliner and my self imposed no popcorn rule (I know crazy right?) this was the best movie experience I've had in a long time.

It's beautiful! We are so lucky to have this in our town. You will not want the lights to go down for the film in this theater. Everything sparkles and it will make you feel like royalty when you come for a show. They even have real butter for the popcorn. There's a nice selection of treats as well.

A Buffalo classic. A landmark. May not have the comfy recliner seats, but a worthwhile experience. I love the ornate architecture. Great indie film theatre. The movie Murder on the Orient Express (new version ala Johnny Depp) was just okay, but the theatre was spectacular! Cons: difficult to find parking along Hertel, may need to walk a bit and find a spot on a side street. Bathroom in the theater is a long climb up the stairs to the upper level and may be a bit difficult climb for some folks.

Beautiful one screen theatre, with never a bad seat in the house. There is a snack bar that serves soda, candy and their hot and buttery popcorn. When Nickel City Con is on you can even catch some of the stars promoting movies here, it's such a treat. In 2019 I got to see Deborah Foreman discussing her movie Valley Girl, it was totally awesome Fer sure !!!

Nothing like watching a movie in such a magnificent theatre. In 2017 TCM & host Ben Mankiewicz & Director Barry Levinson put on a Backlot showing of The Natural here, boy was that a magical night, so much history. With so many seats you'll never find a bad one in this place.Theres also a concession stand for all your snack needs like popcorn, pop and candy.

    Classic movies shown on Mondays!

I Love, with a capital L, the little tables on the recliners. I wish all of the local theaters would adopt them. It seems silly, but they are one of the main reasons this is my most frequented theaters... don't judge me. Lol. Where are they middle of the road? Cleanliness can be hit or miss. Some stuff is a little outdated, but I do believe they are working on that, there were new chairs going in recently. The food menu is hit or miss. I feel like out of all of the Regals that are in the area, they seem to not have what I am looking for most often, some of that is because I am here the most, but some of that seems to be an ordering issue or maybe Regal forces certain menu layouts even if a theater doesn't have those offerings... I am looking at you elusive Tandoori Popcorn. Last, but not least, is something I'll mention, but won't dock them any stars for, the location. I never personally feel uncomfortable here, solo or with company. I have had 2 partners that have said they would come with me, but not alone. I have also witnessed a couple of fights here. In this theaters defense, they can't help where they are located or who is around. In addition, they do a good job keeping security officers here, and I do believe they take customer safety seriously. Security seems to be responsive and I have seen them do everything from deescalate someone in the lobby, to deal with chatty/loud movie goers. Usually they are just a quiet presence and everything is smooth. There are less and less theaters in the area as time passes, I recommend supporting any theaters you can.

IDK when the next Mystery Movie will be, but last night the next Secret Cinema was said to be scheduled for July 14. That would be Bastille Day, if I'm not mistaken, so maybe the movie will be an old French film, or something set in France. Maybe The Pink Panther. No way to know in advance. I did find out on June 8 that Secret Cinema does not show new movies, but went anyway. (The TCM channel is one of my favorites.) Last night The Wizard of Oz was shown on the big screen, after a short talk about the film. Tickets for Secret Cinema are $10 and concessions are half price. Or maybe that's just for popcorn. I'm not sure because all I got to drink was a 20oz bottle of Aquafina, which was $5.50. If you enjoy old movies, "old" being anything from vintage to classic, you will want to check out Dipson Amherst's Secret Cinema. Always a Tuesday night.

With declining viewership & attendance numbers the location closed it's second concession stand, the former spic & span theaters tend to be a bit messy, and the parking lot is a mess. Sketchy at night, and at times the theaters can get a bit out of control with loud & rude customers. Which tends to ruin the experience. On one occasion, while watching the latest John Wick film, my wife had the misfortune of sitting on a wet seat (yeah, it was urine & the trousers were ruined) Other than that, with a little caution, it's fine. Out of all the Regal locations in the area, this one has slipped into being the weakest overall. The staff experience is very hit or miss. Some employees are attentive and present, while others seem more interested in chatting with friends or sneaking phone time in over helping customers. The cleanliness has also dropped too. It's not dirty to the level of being gross, but it no longer feels well cared for or consistently maintained. The seating hasn't been updated, so it's still the old style, which honestly sums up what feels off about this location. It feels stuck in the past. Everything comes across as a little worn and tired compared to other Regal theaters nearby. There doesn't seem to be much pride or urgency in keeping the space polished. Concessions are another weak spot. The standard snack options are usually fine, but anything beyond the basics are regularly unavailable. I've also had very little luck with promotional snack, which are frequently out of stock here compared to other locations. This used to be one of the better Regal theaters years ago. I find myself choosing any of the other Regal locations instead, including driving all the way out to Orchard Park, when this would be the most convenient location for me coming from Lockport. I hope this theater eventually gets some updates... refreshed seating, improvements to the IMAX, or just a renewed focus on upkeep and staff engagement. It's possible things have changed since my last visit three to six months ago, but as of now, it's unfortunately a no for me.
