I had an absolutely terrible experience with Scenic Towing. After being stranded in a parking lot about 25 minutes from home with my 1-year-old, I called for service and was given an ETA. They confirmed twice that a driver was on the way, so I waited patiently. Over two and a half hours later, no one ever showed up.Instead of arriving, the service was suddenly canceled with no explanation at all. No phone call, no update, nothing. I was left sitting there with my child after relying on their confirmation that help was coming. It's extremely frustrating and honestly unacceptable for a company to give false ETAs, repeatedly confirm service, and then simply cancel without any communication. When someone is stranded, especially with a young child, reliability and honesty matter. I pay for roadside assistance benefits specifically for situations like this, and Scenic Towing completely failed to provide the service they promised. This experience was stressful, unsafe, and incredibly disappointing. I would not recommend this company to anyone who actually needs dependable roadside assistance. read more

Unfortunately, on Saturday, I ran over something and got two flat tires. I knew that I would need a flatbed to pick up my Jeep and transport it to a tire company. So I called scenic towing because of yelp and the fact that they were in Modesto. They were able to get the flatbed tow truck to my location in about 40 minutes. They then transported my Jeep to a local tire company and I was been busy doing tire shopping . I appreciate the ease of working with scenic, towing the fact that they were available and picked up on my call made a difference and then I was able to pay with Venmo and they provided me with an invoice for my insurance company via email. read more

When the driver got to my vehicle he said he isn't going to tow it because it wasn't registered due to a missing sticker on the plate and stated that I was doing something fraudulent which wasn't true. I can't believe AAA uses this company. It took FOUR hours to get my car towed. I called multiple times thinking they forgot about me, and the front desk told me "30 minutes" each time. I needed a tow last week for my mom's car and since I couldn't explain very well what had happened (my mom barely made it to work and was working at the time so she was not there to elaborate) the tow truck driver gave us a really bad time and even questioned our need for a tow. As a Service Consultant & Parts - Service Manager for GM Dealerships, I dealt with towing for customers and for the first time I need it one my self. Call insurance company and that was an ordeal. This service was there after I called them directly because insurance was going to take longer. Most people do not understand when they see a tow truck that they are the ones you want to help and let through because this guys at times can save a life. Would like to give this towing service a negative star, but I can't. Long story short, while I was waiting for a tow for a rental car I ran for some breakfast. Driver was forced to wait 10 minutes for me. I let the driver know that I needed to get into the back of the car for luggage he walked up to me, looked me in the eye and dropped the keys to the floor and just stared at me. The rest of the time he was filled with so much attitude I couldn't stand it and went inside my hotel. He then called me to tell me he fixed the car. In 5 minutes he fixed an alternator?! For the first time I had Great service from this place. I called AAA for a tow. A very pleasant young man name Pete showed up and greeted me with a smile and hooked up to my car with extreme care. I was blown away to say the least. Last time I used this place I told the rude driver to unhook the car and get off my property. I sure hope Pete trains the rest of the drivers in customer service. If I could give negative stars I would. My elderly and disabled father in law had his van stolen last Saturday night. It was found several days later in Modesto stripped and we were notified that it was at Scenic towing. Now after my father in law has lost his only transportation they also want him to pay 270.00 dollars for a tow he did not authorize. Now he has no vehicle since it was stolen, stripped and vandalized and he had to pay 270.00 on top of that.....wow!? read more

Just this week I took my 93' Toyota pickup in & I drove out of there with a truck that drives amazingly well! I usually deal with Randy and he's a good, honest guy. Worst tow company ever!!! My vehicle was broken down and I called AAA for a tow, Scenic Tow was dispatched. The starter was out, and I requested a flatbed tow. They send a service truck!! I tell the driver Ken the starter is out, but he insistent to jump my vehicle. The pulls out a bar to bang on my starter, my vehicle doesn't start or turn. He then decides to jump in my vehicle to start it and BREAKS MY KEY IN THE IGNITION!!! Then tells me the key was already broke!!! WTF!!! My family and I got stranded on the 152 and we waited for 3 hrs. Our car company sent the tow company and well according to the girl when we called she says, oh he had gone (have you we was exactly 93miles away) and supposedly the guy came didn't see us and left all in a hour! Not only did they leave me hanging for over 2 hours for a simple jump, they hung up on me when I went to complain about waiting for so long. Anyway, it's a tow company, they are always getting people in a bad mood, because who isn't mad when their car breaks down?! Any time I've had a tow my driver is always polite, courteous, and quick. I had the misfortune of battery issues for my car, which resulted in two calls to AAA within 30 minutes. Michael front Scenic Towing was dispatched to assist the initial incident who provided a jump start. After dropping my dog off for surgery, my car once again did not start. A second call was placed to AAA and once again Michael from Scenic Towing was sent to my aid. Michael was extremely professional, efficient, and demonstrated excellent customer service skills. One of the tow truck drivers was delivering a neighbors car home and pulled all the way across the road and up onto my lawn and tore it up with the front tires and my lawn was wet also so that made it worse. There was no need for him to be on my sidewalk or lawn. He was told by the owner of the car not to go any further or he would be on the neighbors lawn and he did it anyway. Never stopped to tell me he was sorry or that he would take care of the anything. Called tow company and they just said that their drivers aren't suppose to be doing that and never apolized or came out to look at damage. Very inconsiderate. They were sent by AAA because I needed a tow, and Angel was so incredibly helpful!! When he got there, he even offered to look at my car and told me what he thought the problem was. The plan was to take my car to a repair shop I had picked out and leave it overnight (it was late at night so nothing was open), but he mentioned that he was worried my car would get vandalized as they only had street parking, so he recommended that he take the car back to their shop and have it towed to my chosen repair place the next day. I was grateful for the advice. I was also planning on taking an Uber to my Airbnb after my car had been towed, but he insisted on giving me a lift to my Airbnb and lowered the car when we got there so I could get some bags out for the night. He also called AAA and told them what the new plan was so everything would be sorted in the morning, then gave me his card in case I had any issues. Thank you so much Angel! Tow driver was professional. But the office accidentally charged my debit card $710 instead of $170. When I brought it to their attention, their solution was to credit my card $710 and re-charge $170 so their "books would be straight" So, they immediately pulled another $170 out of my checking account and I must wait 3-5 business days for the credit to go through because that just how credit card transactions work. When I told the owner that they should have balanced their receipts to the posted transactions and caught the error immediately he said this has only happened 2-3 times in the past several years and usually in the customers favor. I guess that is a good enough excuse for not doing a thorough, accurate job and for me to be out $710 for a week. I really don't think so. In the future, if you want to make it right with the customer, issue a check a.s.a.p. The interest on my "loan" to you of $710 is to let everyone I can reach know not to do business with your company. read more

Awful. They do not know the rules of AAA. I bought a AAA battery in 2011 and called Scenic Tow in January 2013 as the battery was under a 3 year warranty. I wish I had read the reviews before I had wasted my time with this company. After calling ahead to schedule a tow, which was an hour drive away from our home, we waited over an hour for the driver only to receive a phone call saying he was not going to be able to "make it". After being. Told by my husband that if he would have just told us he couldn't do it we wouldn't have driven over an hour and waited in the heat for an additional hour, we could have used someone else. The driver never apologized or made any attempts to change our minds about the company. I wonder how the owners would feel if they knew how their employees treated potential customers. Mike needs to be hit by a tow truck. This place left me and my entire family stranded on the side of the highway for four hours. Every fifteen minutes they said it would be another 15 minutes. Well, sixteen 15 minute delays later they finally came. Mike smells awful, his truck looks awful. If there is anyway you can avoid this company do, if no other tows are available I'd rather sleep on the side of the highway next time. If mike called me for a tow, I'd tow his car off the highway and in to a lake, that's about it. The residents of Modesto, travelers of Hwy 99 and the entire world population would be better off if this business closed its doors for good and miked retired permanently from life. Car was towed. Went the retrieve it the next day and my car key was locked inside my car (a very well sought after car, and highly popular to steal) in the on position and my battery was dead. Then I realized my hood latch cable was broke. As if someone popped my hood and pulled waaaay to hard. And the people all looked embarrassed and acted as if they did not know anything about it and the manager refused to talk to me.
