The food was okay and was not overly expensive like most restaurants are in the area.

It wasn't too busy when we arrived in middle of the afternoon, and we were warmly greeted. You place your order at the counter and then seat yourself. Water and cups are out too. I went with the Pad Thai ($27 with chicken) and also got to try some of the fried chicken ($17), a special. Prices seemed a little high but the dishes were delicious, with portions being reasonable and the Pad Thai not being overwhelmingly sweet. The fried chicken was magically crunchy outside and moist inside, with an irresistible dipping sauce not too cilantro-y. The Windham Local has a parking lot off to the side, but there was ample street parking too. And a shop proprietor later told us that The Windham Local is her place to eat in town!

Coffees were delicious and strong and the breakfast burrito was truly the best breakfast burrito I think I've ever had. The space is so cute. I read on their website while planning the weekend that they are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and have live music on the weekends. It looks like they do it all. We stopped in early and had our choice of tables. The space is big, clean and perfectly calm. Great spot for a slow breakfast. After ordering at the counter, they brought everything over to our table. I got the oatmeal bowl. Delicious and simple. However, I couldn't help but steal many many bites of the breakfast burrito. Seriously, get it! A great spot with good food, a friendly team and a cozy vibe.

Our host, server and actually all of the employees were super frinedly upbeat and attentive in spite of the place being jjam packed. There was music playing from a jkebox, but in the main dining room it wasn't too loud. And I was glad that we were seated there becuase we had a great view of the lake. We would have enjoyed the patio, but it was especially chilly for mid-May. Anyway, on to the food and drinks. Cocktails were good and not too sweet, draft beer was fresh. Steamed clams were on point. Salads were crisp and fresh as well as creative. Entrees were amazing and even the fries (which to my mind are usually an afterthought) were excellent. Other than some tight parking and a somewhat loud dining room, it was a great experience. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. The chef is top notch.

Service was friendly and food came out quickly. I had potato pierogies and a beet, arugula and goat cheese salad, both very good. They do have a number of vegetarian choices. They also have breakfast on Sundays. Will definitely be coming back for the lake views in the spring.

There was a lovely breeze and amazing view of green lakes and beyond. My small children wanted to walk around while we waited for our food and we checked out the golf carts nearby. The service was pretty fast. At one point I ordered a side of fries and it came out so quickly! The food was also pretty good. I am deducting a star because of the vegetarian sandwich. I was a bit disappointed in the bread which did not seem to be sourdough or toasted and roasted red peppers that were small shreds. The taste was overall ok but larger pieces of red peppers and more lettuce would have helped a lot. My spouse is gluten free and we were pleased they had gf buns on their menu for an additional cost. He and our kids really enjoyed their dinners. Their kids meals were reasonably priced and our 5 year old completely devoured a cheeseburger (normally she eats mostly fries) but the fries were good too!!

The views here are breathtaking, and the outdoor restaurant area is fully covered so while you can enjoy outdoor dining, there is no sun in your eyes, and it is just a little bit cooler than sitting in the sun. The menu is quite nice and many of the women I were with ordered a Smashburger, which they loved.. I ordered the Waldorf salad, which was generously portioned both lettuce and chicken salad. It was just perfect with enough mayonnaise, walnuts, and grapes to go with the chicken. Our waitress was so wonderful that she actually came around and did separate checks with us. Who would've thought? Wonderful food, wonderful company, and outstanding scenery.
