The wall of tea will intimidate newcomers, but the workers there are so nice and informative. They will describe all the flavors to you, and even let you sample some! The person who served me last time I was there was super passionate about all his recommendations and their products. The ambience is great! Nice couches along one of the walls and free wi-fi. You can plug-in and enjoy refill after refill of hot tea service, which definitely makes it worth the time and money. If you get iced tea like I did, I was able to refill mine for an extra $1 and the worker told me the next would be free! Also, the place is generally quiet, which can be a big plus for people who go to coffee shops and the like to work. Also, if you are a chocolate fiend like myself you will love the Bailey's flavored chocolate mousse pie. With a relaxing, light atmosphere, skillfully blended drinks, and a highly accessible location near campus, it's no wonder this little nook has a growing influx of repeat customers. Big windows allow the interior of the building to fill with natural light. For the sun-hungry, enjoy an exterior seating area (there's some shade, too) just outside. For those more prone to burn rather than tan, the inside hosts a comfortable arrangement of tables and chairs. If you're in for the long haul, seat yourself on the couch and find some study buddies while drinking heavily caffeinated teas on tap. This is the place where I learned that--for the most part--I prefer herbals to teas. Suggested by the servers, many of whom I've come to know by face and name, the arrangements of herbals and teas is vast yet Iess intimidating if you know your preferences. If you're not quite sure what you like just yet, start on tap an work your way up to the board above, or ask for some help. I guarantee you'll get a smile and some awesome recommendations. And it's right on campus. Get away from the usual Starbucks and try some tea! It's affordable, you can build up to a free drink after your fifth purchase, and the teas on tap get cheaper per refill (free for the third cup)! A great find near the university. The baristas are always very knowledgable and friendly. Their teas on tap are delicious. I often just pick a base tea or two and have them whip up a delicious concoction. If you don't specify otherwise, their teas can be quite sweet. Let them know your preferences (for sweeteners, cream/almond milk, etc), and they are happy to accommodate. The price for one drink (for the teas on tap) can be a bit pricy, but if you come back for a same day refill, the first one is .50/$1 (medium/large) and the second refill is free! So if you're planning on staying in the area and getting a few refills, it becomes much more affordable. I enjoy the ambiance of the cafe - there are a mix of tables and couches, but it is usually quite full. There is usually a mix of people doing work and chatting, but the noise level is generally reasonable for getting work done. I have to adjust my earlier review. The shop has expanded its selection a great deal and I have several favorites among them. The pie slices have gotten a bit smaller but still large enough to share. I recommend the house black iced and the earl gray (creme) hot. You can sweeten your tea with honey or sugar and there's honey for iced tea specially so you don't end up with a chunk of the stuff. Been here a few times and everytime i fall more in love with the place. The teas are so good and range from fruity to spicy and herby. Have you ever just wanted to hang out and have some coffee/ drinks with friends while studying? If so, this is the place to go! While attending the UofA in Tucson I was a regular at Scented Leaf. The atmosphere is so welcoming and fun. The employees are always amazing and so knowledgeable. The owners are very nice and so good at explaining teas, mixtures, and benefits of the leaves. It is not uncommon to walk in to a full house: some couples having a fees cups of tea, students studying, small meetings happening, or people just grabbing a drink on the go. Once upon a time when they first opened I would find refuge in the peaceful/spacious place called The Scented Leaf. Now all of UofA is aware of how amazing they are- yet they still have the best tea selection you've ever seen! It's worth enduring the masses of college students. If you are a new tea drinker, or a seasoned one, they know their stuff! They also know how to make it taste good. I LOVE that they have multiple teas on tap, and of course can steep any tea you'd like. Their rewards system is simple/lifetime and attainable. True story - two years since visiting I still had a free drink waiting for me when I punched in my email. Cannot say enough good things about this place! We are new to Tucson and stumbled upon it by chance. Great atmosphere, the tea was delicious but what really won me over was the staff. I wish I would've caught the name of the woman who helped us. She went above and beyond to explain the menu, made the perfect drink recommendations (get a nitro coffee with honey vanilla and dark chocolate almond milk, you WONT regret it!) and once she found out we were new to the area so wrote us a list of her favorite places around town for us to check out. Friday September 21st, 2012 was the day my life changed. Before my first experience at The Scented Leaf, I was ignorant to the beautiful potential of tea. I believe that I may have even referred to it as "slightly flavored water." Then I came in to The Scented Leaf and ordered an iced Honey Vanilla Nectar as per suggestion of Shane, and my idea of tea was forever revolutionized. It is over a year later and I have been to the shop countless times. I have studied here, baked here, loved here, and found comfort in these walls. I have received phenomenal service from Camille, Max, Troy, and other employees who no longer work here. The amount of effort and love Shane has invested in this place is not only obvious in the atmosphere and quality of tea, but in the staff that he thoroughly trains to be connoisseurs in tea as well as customer service. I have tried at least half of the menu and have never been disappointed, even the coffee and food are far above par from what I have experienced at other eateries around campus. It is the perfect place for any seeker of delectable beverages. They are welcoming and kind and gentle with those who are experiencing tea for the first time. They always make the tea the way it was ordered and are very considerate about adding any sweeteners if not requested. Their love for seeing their customers happy is only surpassed by their love and passion for tea, which they teach to customers with every cup of perfectly brewed tea with which they bless this community. I could write essays on this place, and actually did for one of my English courses, but I will end this review with stating that, when I look back on my college experience, my warmest feelings will be derived from the experience I have had in this perfectly quaint, unique tea house. read more

Tea is mediocre at best. if you wanna do a fundraiser here - DON'T. We collaborated a percentage night for an organization I am apart of. The fundraising date was months ago and we have still yet to receive the check from that night. We have been emailing back and forth prior to the date but once the event was over, the replies stopped coming back. We reached out multiple times asking if they had a dollar amount of how much we made or asking when we can come by to pick up the check. Tea: The tea is amazing. But... BUT! The baristas need to calm down with the sugar. I don't take my tea with sugar and had several instances where they would put it in my drink when I specified not to. Friends of mine have also complained about their tea being way too sweet, so they would end up watering it down. I also like how they don't mind whipping you up something. You ask the baristas for recommends, and they are more than happy to help. Food: I think that it's a bit overpriced. The turtle cheesecake is delicious! But with a large cup of tea on tap and a plate of cheesecake equates to about $10. Come on. Not all poor college students can afford that. Area: It's usually crowded inside, so I tend to sit outside. I understand that the area is small, so SL can't really put all of these tables in the front. It's a bit annoying to be sitting outside during the rush hours. The Scented Leaf is by far my new favorite hang out. I go to get homework done, just stop by for a refreshing drink and go to hang out. They have great mellow music playing all the time, have a great refill policy and the staff is all super friendly! Their one employee Troy makes sure to introduce himself to everyone and is always extremely friendly to all the customers and recognizes you even if you've only been in once or twice. Everyone is knowledgeable about the teas and they have a great board that shows you the range of teas from least to most caffeinated. I love coming here to study because the environment is very relaxing. There are a wide variety of teas and a few baked goods that are quite well made. I can't comment on the lounging and the wifi, because I always buy and then leave, but it looks very comfortable in the storefront area. I really enjoy the specialty drinks they come up with, sometimes I'll pop by after having seen a post on their Facebook for some new creative way to combine flavors. *Parking isn't as big of an issue if you go on off-peak hours. I've walked down University and have passed this place several times, each time admiring the soft herbal smells the open door wafts out (if it's fruity, chances are decent that's the hookahs across the street). The place is dim, yet warmly lit; there's a long couch on one wall and tables everywhere. It looks like a small university hangout- I saw a couple of students the night I came in. Now, for the teas. There were a LOT. I'm no tea person by any means, so the wall behind the counter was a little odd. Thankfully, the girl behind the counter was awesome enough to tell and explain it to me. On her recommendation, I got one of the blue-lined teas- a chocolate blend (the name escapes me sadly), iced and mixed with dark chocolate almond milk. Medium Their policy with the cups is really cool. If you hold on to it, you can get a .50 and later a free refill from the tea taps! For someone that lives close by, you can't really go wrong. The price is a little steep- without tip, the total order came to $3 and some change- but everything else makes up for that. read more

I don't think that I can say enough about The Scented Leaf on University in Tucson. My boyfriend and I first visited on our first date several months back. Let me first say that there are few really good date-friendly venues in Tucson; many places are too loud, too focused on drinking culture and often either too expensive and formal or dive-y. The Scented Leaf is now where I send all of my friends looking for a good place to spend time, drink delicious tea and and do homework/studying, a good place to socialize with friends or grab a bite to eat, and definitely as a date location. It's such a nice alternative to the greasy pub fare or the overpriced, student oriented fast food as well, with a simple, but satisfying menu with healthy options for both food and drink with uncompromising quality assured. From the moment we set foot in the tea house, we felt comfortable in the environment. For a storefront on a crowded street, it was a quietly energized atmosphere, well frequented by people who seemed to be "regulars," judging by the fact that they were greeted by name. The staff couldn't have been friendlier- welcoming us, offering suggestions and describing the flavor profiles of all of their teas. We decided upon a delicious Rooibos, at the recommendation of the vivacious and knowledgeable Camille and sat down at a table to talk, have tea service (cheerfully and unobtrusively refilled), and get to know each other. We must have stayed for over an hour, drinking tea and deciding between delectable goodies to compliment it. We had a wonderful time. Overall, it was a completely delightful experience! I particularly enjoyed the decor, complete with plants, colorful pictures of the tea, which helped in the decision making process and whet our appetites for the different offerings. They also offer tea for purchase by the bag in addition to having the first "tea on tap" concept that I have seen- in my subsequent visits, I have greatly enjoyed the Yerba mate and the raspberry rose petal iced tea combinations.
