I cannot recommend this place to know when I worked in when was immediately greeted but I have a nice lady named Julie.. She was ways to ask me what I needed because having just learning from Los Angeles and being if this is Sioux Falls you can imagine the 72° temperature difference was playing amazing games with my body... But help is on the way she summons Amanda Nick who quietly and efficiently picked out the right items for a fat middle-age guy whose idea of exercise is usually accomplished on late night infomercials and finished with phrases of "I'm going to do that someday" The store is very wonderfully laid out and very easy to navigate I instantly fell in love with the three choices that I settled on right away and I threw in a few extra too this is the kind of store that you're gonna spend a lot of time at I highly recommend getting someone like the dick to help you get through this because it's easy to just go in there and spend a lot of money but the store save my life I now have my favorite pair of sweats, a flannel that will keep me from freezing within 30 seconds and a great pair of jeans that now fit me and will afford me another few years are going to the Buffay without having to go to the gym... It's always good to buy a few sizes too large isn't it?... Scheels is a sporting goods store that sells clothing, shoes, toys, sporting gear, hunting gear, fishing gear, guns, team apparel for local colleges and has a restaurant. Oh yeah they have a Ferris wheel too! They sell top brands like North Face, Under Armour, Patagonia, Nike, Addidas, Kuhl and really most any trendy or sporty brand. The store is huge and well organized. The staff is knowledgeable. The dressing rooms are easy to access. This store is comparable to Dicks Sporting Goods, REI or Cabellas. However Scheels is better than all of them! This is a treasure of the upper Midwest. In a time when retailers are suffering due to inline shopping, Scheels has come up with a business model that draws people into their stores. I can't say enough good things about this place. What's not to like about this place? Its clean, has three sheets of ice, good locker rooms and a stocked concession stand that serves beer. I would recommend visiting here for any hockey tournament. There are plenty of hotels, restaurants and shopping opportunities nearby. The rink is very close to I29, so it's easy to get to. There is a large hockey workshop within walking distance nearby. It wasn't too cold in the rink and they had infrared / gas heating elements above the stands. The bleachers are hard plastic so a blanket is nice to sit on if you have one. Overall, Scheel's is a great venue and an awesome tournament host. read more

The dread was unwarranted as they had at least 6 registers staffed with customer service people. I placed three different orders beginning Christmas eve for someone visiting us on December 26, 2023. Each time, the order (a gift card) appeared to be processed. Once, I saw the amount pending on our bank card. Each time, the gift card was never processed. Today, I finally tried again, to call the company to let them know that I had tried three different times to buy a gift card for the same person and each time, it appeared to process and each time, nothing happened. I thought that by calling directly, I would get some help and finally resolve the problem so that the person who by now knew of the pending gift could use it. Instead I was told that I may have cancelled other orders (not with Scheels as I had purchased a gift card the year before for the same person). I was told that Scheels using a reporting agency that lets them know when a person cancels an order, so suspecting that I may cancel the order, they cancelled my order three different times? It did not make any sense. I am an avid shopper on Amazon since the pandemic restricted in person shopping. I asked Scheels if they were able to look at a person's ordering record with big companies like Amazon, Target, or Walmart. All places I shop. The person who answered the phone on the other end became very rude. I told her, I actually did not need to order anything from Scheels with that experience (random canceling of a Christmas order placed three different times) and her rudeness. As soon as the call ended, I contacted Amazon, and they texted the gift card to the patient person who waited since December 26 for their gift. Wow! What a selection! This store is huge. Prices were pretty good on ammo, firearms and hunting gear. Store was very clean and well organized. However, this store is VERY military/veteran UNFRIENDLY, almost hostile. Cashier and her partner (supervisor?) became antagonized when the issue came up. Very uncharacteristic for typical South Dakota hospitality. So, I don't know what to make of that. Their hostility towards military/veterans is primary reason for low rating. read more

Scheel's had a larger selection of gear than Dick's Sporting Goods by far! Bravo! A pleasant surprise! 2nd point... If we had no clue what we were looking for, there were multiple employees ready to answer questions. 3rd point... Those multiple employees obviously aren't busy enough as I had to politely send 7 of them on their way in only a 10 minute period. Whether your interest is fishing, hunting, camping, or any type of other sport you will find what you need here. I've gotten many gifts and purchased high quality equipment and clothing. I like that there is such a variety from very high end clothing and accessories, and also options to choose from other brands that won't break the budget. Aside from the quality of products offered the building is very unique with the addition of a Ferris wheel and restaurant. It's fun to just walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. Every encounter I have had the employees has been pleasant as each area of speciality has someone willing to help answer questions. I went in there today looking for 5II Tactical pants for myself. A young lady who said she was in charge of that section looked them up on line and said that they were only available on line. Then she proceeded to ask what I liked about this pants. She then showed me other brands that would suit my needs. I tried on the other brands. She got me different sizes as I needed. Every time I go there I am always greeted in a friendly and respectful manner, it's always easy for me to find help if needed and never felt pressured in any way. I asked for a product I did not see and they not only researched it for me but gave me a wealth of information and a good recommendation which I am considering.. with no pressure to buy right now, rather to research the options and return if chosen and if not happy with it, easily exchange it for something else (unlike other places). My wife and I went in to your store in Sioux Falls South Dakota today (9/28/2015) around 2:30 she bought a North Face vest the price on the tag 149 and when it was scanned came up 79 and change the check out person Kathy said that did not sound right so she called the supervisor Beth over and told my wife and I that because we were ready to pay the 149 that that was the price Beth made my wife and I feel like they were trying to change prices, I feel that YOU packed it up last year and forgot to mark it back up. Normally I haven't had too many issues going through these guys for bike repair until just recently the last couple of months. Brought my bike in on a Thursday to get my front brakes adjusted and my back brakes installed. I let them know there was also some issues with it squeeking. The guy that checked my bike in said they'd have to keep it over the weekend - really not that big of a deal. I call the following Monday only to be told they haven't even touched the thing but it was next in line. No big deal. Inconvenient but not the worst thing in the world. They might have been backed up on repair orders and just failed to mention that to me. I finally receive a message saying the repairs had been completed the next day around noon. That's when things get interesting. I pick the bike up that evening and the guy working at that time is rolling it out of the shop. Its squeeking as he's rolling it out and tells one of his co-workers that the braking on the handles are still slightly loose/dysfunctional. I asked him if he knew why it was still squeeking and the guy really just had no solid answer despite it being in their shop for almost a full six days. He was just making guesses that really indicated no one actually properly assessed everything that needed to be repaired - the repairs felt overly rushed and half-attempted. I get there may have been some legitimate reason for the poor service but I'm still paying them my hard earned money and it just really hurt my image of them. I probably will be looking elsewhere for future repairs where I know they will be more attentive and thorough. read more

I really enjoy the quality of service that I get from each individual there. I was upset that I had to reorder Choco's sandals twice. The first time they couldn't find the size they had on inventory and this second time is a manufacturer default. I am currently waiting for this second order.
