My family has stopped at the Schlotzsky's in Alexandria, LA for years on our way to & from South Louisiana, even though it's been on a steady decline for years, but we will not be going back. This is really disappointing because we love the food at Schlotzky's & this is the only location left in Louisiana. We just stopped here during July 4, 2026 weekend. The entire glass front door was cracked & looked like it would shatter if you touched it, but it was not covered for safety. They didn't have ANY tea made & the water out of the coke machine tasted horrible (in Shreveport, we have F grade water, but this was somehow infinitely worse), so I didn't even get a drink that we paid for. Both bathrooms are extremely dirty. My husband said there are never any paper towels in the men's room & the air dryer is rusted & too gross to use. And the water sprays out like crazy when you barely turn it on. He said it also stinks. The ladies room is also gross & the sink looks like it hasn't been cleaned in many years. The toilet seat doesn't fit on the toilet & slides around everywhere when you're not moving. The water barely comes out of the faucet, making it hard to wash your hands. (For at least a few years, the bathroom door locks didn't even work, but I guess they finally fixed that, at least.) We sat at the one table we could find that wasn't dirty. My husband also noticed some of the floor tiles are coming loose. My husband said his Original sandwich wasn't hot all the way through & his chips were stale. And they gave me the wrong dipping sauce with my calzone. We were weirded out by how dirty the restrooms & restaurant were, making us really concerned about how clean the kitchen & food could be when everything else is so dirty. Ate inside the restaurant. Sandwich was great as was the service. But they need to do a major upgrade to their flooring. Floor tiles loose and several corners raised all over. A customer trip and fall is in their future. If I go back I'll get pictures. read more

I grew up eating these sandwiches in Dallas but they are no longer in Florida, so on road trips back home I look for them. This location in Alexandria is on Macarthur and is worth the short drive off Interstate 49. I stopped in for an Original sandwich to go. The food was delicious, the workers were friendly and the restaurant was clean. They've added pizzas and calzones but my favorite remains their classic sandwich. read more

Got a strawberry salad from here midway into eating the salad I noticed the strawberries were brown and mushy. Two days later I went back to try the pizza and ended up in the hospital the next day due to food poisoning. The food was good, but service was slow. Saw two groups of customers come in and then leave after no one came to the front to take their order. They were out of dressings and didn't tell us until they brought out the food. Also, the women's bathroom had tape over the door lock, so you couldn't close or lock it. Phenomenal as usual. The ability to place an order online and pick it up instead of waiting was really nice.

We arrived just a few minutes before closing at 9pm. We were hungry and desperate and hoping for mercy after arriving in town for a softball tournament. The young lady at the front was so nice and gave no feeling of "ugh, we're about to close." Food was super delicious and every time I asked her for something, like marinara or a fork, she was super sweet and accommodating. Kudos to this establishment (clean too) and the staff. I've tried calling multiple times with no answer. I even confirmed my order before paying and I was told they had it listed correctly. We called in an order for 2 pizzas & a cup of potato soup with a turkey club sandwich. The pizzas were fine but the turkey on the sandwich was dark brown, almost black all around the edges. I've had Schlotskys many times in different states. I've even eaten here once before. On 1/31/2020 my mom and I went in around 6:30ish and had dinner. This was my first time eating at a Schlotzsky's and was the worst experience of customer service I have ever had and I eat out at least 2 times a week. There were 4 people in front of us when we walked in. We waited about 15 minutes before it was our turn. Once the girl served the people in front of us, she put her head girl on her arms on the counter when we walked up to the register. I tried to make small talk and said, " You must be tired; what time did you come into work? " She lifted her shirt over her mouth and looked away. I proceeded to give her my order. She never looked at me. Then my husband wanted to order but she did not look at him either. Once we were finished ordering, she gave us our cups and did not say anything again. The manager took her off the register and she started cleaning tables. About 20 minutes later, she brought out our food with the same nasty gloves that she had on to clean the tables! I dine in at Schlotzskys on a regular basis. Always receive better than average service. Yesterday, I was trying to us an email coupon and had a minor problem. A young lady named Kayleigh, or Kaylee...not sure of spelling, stepped up and helped me way more than I expected. She was awesome, worked through the problem, and helped me get what I needed. She represented the Schlotzskys brand extremely well. I am a crotchety old phart and not easily impressed. I was impressed. Schlotzsky's has good bread. I think the sourdough original bread is best, and, I like the original muffaletta sandwich most. I tried the deluxe version on this visit, but find the proportions in the original much better. My wife had a bacon grilled cheese sandwich which comes on a pretzel roll with four kinds of cheese, and avocado, accompanied by a tomato-basil dipping sauce. This is a really excellent sandwich. My wife enjoyed this one so much she attempted to duplicate it the next day for her lunch. Yeah, Schlotzsky's has some good specialty sandwiches. Chips are a bad value, i.e., too few and too expensive. I do not think you can find a smaller bag. I believe the bags are less than an ounce. I vote with my feet on this one and never get chips. However, please be careful about what you order here, because if you are not careful, you will end up paying $11.00 for a combo, is absolutely insane. This is my second trip to Schlotzsky's this week. I went back a second time just to make sure I wasn't tripping. Whoever is n the kitchen making the sandwiches needs to retrained are fired. Not caring about how you fix a persons food will bring down the business. The ranch smelled terrible and the salad was old tasting. The Potato soup was watery and chunky with bacon that seemed to be raw looking and had a terrible texture. The sandwich was made completely wrong when all that was suppose to be on it was turkey and when the sandwich was sent back to the kitchen it came back with something off white on the turkey. I was really impressed with the food here. I came with my cousin, thinking I'd sit with her while she ate and find something to eat later. When I saw her salad, I changed my mind!
