I've eaten here MANY times, thus my return here today. The food has always been excellent, and I've enjoyed coming to Alexandria just to have a Po-Boy from Po-Boy Express. Having not posted a good review previously the many times I've enjoyed the food here, I'm very hesitant to post that today my po-boy was not that good. The catfish was very surprisingly thin, and the shrimp was tough and overcooked. That notwithstanding, Po-boy Express has always been my favorite go-to for a good po boy, and I will return in the future. read more

This was our first experience at this small town treasure. We have heard about it from locals and the radio advertisements since moving to Cenla in 2021. When we walked in we were welcomed with a big smile and a hello. There was a few other patrons and it was very much giving a lunchroom feel. We didn't know what to order so went with the daily special which was a buy one get one shrimp plate. This included picture shows it haft gone (I sadly forgot to take a picture before diving in) but it comes with 6 jumbo shrimp on a bed of thick cut fries that were generously seasoned, two (unpictured) hush puppies and sauce of your choice. We close to go with the suggested "boom boom sauce" and it did not disappoint. So you order from a counter when you walk in, someone brings out your food in a styrofoam Togo container on a tray. You serve yourself whatever drink you want. There are bottled options as well as fountain drinks and teas. Overall it's definitely a win and easy to see why they have been serving Alexandria for 28 years. If you are looking for a place with a small town feel and big flavor check it out. my husband and I were visiting From Los Angeles. We were looking for delivery and this place has pretty good reviews on GrubHub. We decided to get to poor boys sandwiches, the surf and turf, and shrimp and oyster Po boy. I really enjoyed the two po-boys sandwiches good flavor combinations! Thumbs up! What I will say is that the fries and the deep-fried mac & cheese were OK. We're definitely missing The flavor you would imagine from a deep fried macaroni and cheese. This is my 10th time at least there. This time I got the turkey bacon club and I ordered it with no mayonnaise and no tomatoes.... It came perfectly as I ordered it however I did not realize there was onions and olives on the sandwich as well. . So I chomped right into it and it was delicious and I don't even like onions or olives. But once I found out that there is olives and onions on my sandwich I instantly threw them in the garbage because they are gross however when I didn't know I was eating them on the sandwich in the middle of the sandwich it was delicious. The food was good, although I didn't get what I was expecting. The service was okay, we sat at the drive through window for several minutes wondering if they were open before anyone came to take our order. The fries were okay but fast food fries are typically better. I'll say the Po-boys are really good but they aren't worth the price. At 11.99 average for just the sandwich, you'd be better off going to an actual restaurant, as the price for 4 people is $60+ if you want any sides or drinks. Overall an okay place but way overpriced for something originally named a "poor boy sandwich". read more

Popped in to grab a quick lunch...didn't expect the menu to be so expansive!! I got the Crab Cake Po-Boy and a side of fried green tomatoes....and it was the best I have ever had in my life! I guess the owner or manager rang me up today...I asked about the fries and potato chips on the table of a customer...he said they are both made there and gave me a small sample of the homemade chips!!! I wish I could give a -1. I was so disappointed with my food and customer service experience from this restaurant and Waitr (but still my fav delivery service)! So I ordered what I thought was fried battered fried chicken. As you can see on the picture they look battered and there's a cup of sauce. So when I placed my order I thought the sauce would be on the side. Based on the picture I didn't think they were just fried wings dipped in sauce. So Waitr says that restaurant won't issue refund, so there's nothing they can do. So I contact restaurant spoke w/manager she says same nothing she can do. She proceeds to put "owner" on the phone who continuously called me "baby" and talked to me in a condescending manner. He tries to tell me that picture was Tyson wings fried with no batter (lie), they've never had wings with batter (lie) and even after I told him I would gladly return them for a refund .... he flat footed refused. I mean no empathy, no apology ... nothing. Now this is the 2nd time I've had an issue but the first was like 3-4 years ago when I received a dry, tough hamburger Poboy. They refused a refund but did allow me to order another Poboy. When I order I have money, but I want what's pictured or described. Times are hard and if it wasn't for me just getting my power back on that day ... I would've never ordered from here but they were only one if the few places available to order from. Po boy express was my favorite childhood sandwich shop. We used to walk to the one in Pineville and order when I was a kid. It's a great value and you get a lot of food for the price. I haven't had a sandwich yet that isn't delicious. The owners are very nice and the service is great! read more

Great sandwiches. Unbelievable variety of different sandwiches. I have tried four, and each were fantastic. The Cajun Clucker is my favorite so far. AND their potato chips are cooked by them. Freshly made potato chips are worth the trip to this restaurant alone. Try this restaurant, if the first sandwich you pick isn't to your taste you have like 30 others to choose from and they're all different. Not like that big sandwich chain where all the sandwiches pretty much taste the same despite your choice of different looking but same tasting bread. read more

The food was decent, overall atmosphere seemed a little lacking, and wasn't completely impressed. But the big thing was the fact that it was over priced stuff the big kicker that made me never come back on a whim is that it took over a half hour to get a gator po boy, french fries, and 3 chicken strips. If you do decide to go here, call ahead a good 30-40 minutes before you do. Next time, I'll call before I leave fort Polk so it'll be ready by the time I get there. read more

Spending the night in town to see a customer in Bunkie and saw the restaurant passing by and wanted to try it. Friendly owners and staff and very helpful. First time there and asked for a recommendation and got 3. I went with the Ragin Cajun combo. Man, I could have just done the sandwich because it was more than enough! Decided to try this place out today for lunch. I ordered their boneless rib po boy sandwich along with Bbq chips. Horrible. It tasted like a soy burger with BBQ sauce on it. This restaurant is nasty, I was standing in line getting some food for a friend and watched a worker drop good on the floor pick it up and put it on the poboy, and another one dropped something and put it back in the fryer to. They was wiping there hands on their clothes and not washing there hands, someone I know use to work here and the things they use to tell me was disgusting, I didnt believe it until I seen it with my own eyes... I live in Pineville and on occasion will pull in and get a poboy from their place on Military Hwy. I don't think their sandwiches are great, but I have been satisfied with my purchases at that location. Today I ordered a fried shrimp and roast beef poboy from the Alexandria store and had it delivered to my shop. For one thing it took 45 minutes to get there and the other was both were substandard meaning not very tasty, cold and short on ingredients. I don't know what they're doing over there in Alexandria, but in my opinion they won't be there long if things don't improve. All I could think about was how much better the sandwiches are next door at Lou and Laura's and how I wished I had bought from them instead. read more

I ordered at 6:50 and asked for delivery I received an email saying it would not be here until 8:15!!! At 8:25 I messaged the delivery service. They called and the restaurant said it was being boxed and would be ten to fifteen more minutes!! I complained to the delivery service online who contacted the restaurant to ask about compensation for the mess up. They said NO! Great po-boys and even better customer service.! After having a bad customer service experience at another restaurant, I went to Po-Boy Express. I placed my order and asked the order taker to please tell me that it would not take an hour to get my food which is the problem I had at the restaurant I had just left. He assured me it would not and in fact put a rush on my order. While I waited for my food, he came to me while I waited in the restaurant and offered me a complementary beverage. When my food was ready, he gave me free cookies. I learned his name was Billy and he was the owner! His actions were kind, thoughtful, and an example of great customer service. The problem I experienced had nothing to do with his business but he went the extra mile to turn around a customer's bad experience. Billy, you have won a new loyal customer! I order two PO BOY from this place. It took them 1.5 hours to deliver to the hotel that was .25 miles from it. The sandwich was not really hot and the shrimp PO BOY was not very tasty. I also had there special Cheese Steak PO BOY and that was certainly nothing to write home about. Really did not meet my expectations at all. read more

DON'T COUNT ON TIMELY DELIVERY! The poboys are decent, and the Pineville store delivered in a reasonable manner. However, ordered delivery EARLY on a Friday evening from new Alexandria store, was told 20-30 minutes. Called numerous times and finally, after 1 1/2 hours, I cancelled the order. Ten minutes later, the delivery girl showed up at the door. I sent her away. Poor management of this particular store. Having said all that, this location is relatively newly opened, so maybe they'll work it out. read more
