Stopped twice coming through Alexandria. We were very pleased on quality and variety of platters!

I had read in a local poll that Darrell's had the best hamburgers in Alexandria. I've never put much stock in those polls because it's usually the restaurant owners getting their friends and family to vote for them. But finally, I tried the hamburger and fries. It was a very good hamburger for the price. I do think there are better hamburgers in town, but they cost more. This hamburger is certainly better than one you would get from a fast food chain. The fries were pretty good. They're the kind I like. I would eat here again. read more

The chicken is so greasy the fish is so greasy that the crust falls off of it like it soggy and another thing is the employees are so rude and disrespectful my niece went over there for a pick up. We stopped at Darrell's while we were traveling. Burgers, seafood, chicken, sounded like a little something for everyone! It looks like a bit of a hole in the wall, but inside, the restaurant was well lit and clean. (Restrooms were nice and clean, too!) My husband and younger son ordered burgers, my older son ordered chicken strips, and I ordered the fried shrimp. There were several choices of sides, but we all went with some form of potato product (three curly fries, one regular). Our food came out hot and fresh, and we were all pleased with what we got. The shrimp weren't Gulf shrimp (the menu said imported from Peru), but they were crisp and delicious. The burgers were well seasoned, and the coating on the chicken was light and crispy. The curly fries were really, really good, and I was glad I'd ordered them. If you're particular about soft drinks, Darrell's serves Pepsi products and Dr Pepper. And our family of four was able to eat for less than $40, so it's a pretty good deal. So, add Darrell's to the list of places we're happy to stop at when we're in the Alexandria area! read more

Good food. Good service. Fried chicken livers were the best. There was a very cool camo and American flag wall.

Yuck. I was the only one in the restaurant and it still took them nearly 30 minutes to get my order. I think I broke a tooth on the chicken fingers. Someone recommended this restaurant saying that their fingers were better than Cane's, but they were wrong--by a long shot. I can see why few people go to this restaurant, but why they stay open is beyond me. I really wish that Arby's had stayed in that location. read more

Soooo there we were in Alexandria, hungry and wanting something and have a swell game of "I dunno, what do you want?" Going on and we passed Darrell's and said that's for us. Honestly we didn't know what to expect. It's pretty much burgers, fried chicken and fish. It's good!! Place is clean folks are nice and they make a really good burger!! It was just right. Absolutely amazing chicken tenders (both fried and grilled)! Don't forget the special made Darrel's sauce! Their dirty rice is seasoned to perfection -yummy! First time here as we're new to the area. Very good food, love the crispy coating on the chicken and other fried food. I like the size of the shrimp, that they're cleaned and they have a delicious, delicate coating. Same with the chicken ... beautiful! My husband and son both love the burgers and are always wanting to come back for them. I love that they have their own "Darrell sauce" which is more than just ketchup and mayonnaise. Great food, great service, and very friendly staff. On my first visit there I ordered a cheeseburger and the lady was bragging about their chicken and how they marinate it for 18 hours. I told her I should have gotten the chicken. Next thing you know she gave me a free chicken breast to try. Amazing! So I've been back since and have brought my family. I will be back over and over. My husband and I have eaten at Darrell's several different time. The food was always good, but on Sunday, 30 April was not worth eating. The chicken was dried out on the inside, it was over fried, my husband said it tasted like old chicken. I ordered an hamburger all the way to include mustard, well it looked like someone just thrown it together, there was more mustard on the wrapper than on the hamburger. Now the fries was hot, and that was the only thing that tasted good. Someone needs to check on the staff that works on Saturday and Sunday. If you keep getting people that don't care about how they prepare food, your business is going to go down, fast. read more

Meh. This was pretty much a total waste of time. We stopped here passing through because of the 5 stars and they even had some award on the door for 2019. It was clean. The price was good but the food was nothing that is worth 5 stars. If this is the best chicken in Alexandria, I feel bad for them. There wasn't anything really flavorful about it. The fries were good and cooked long enough, not soggy and flimsy, I'll give them that. There isn't a changing table in the bathroom. So, if you have kids, you will have to change them in the car. The people working were friendly but just save yourself time and go to canes or chick fil a instead. Oh and it says wings...there were NO wings on the menu. read more

Stopped here on a road trip for fast food but real food. The fried chicken and chicken tenders were battered and fried to perfection, and the Darrell's sauce that came with the tenders was exceptional. But my review is more about the service, which was outstanding. When I realized I forgot to order my son's burger plain, I went to buy a new bun devoid of condiments but the lovely woman working waved me off and brought him a new fresh burger instead.
