I tried their new Turkey Avocado BLT sub size medium. It is heavy, laden with a multitude of stuff and impossible to eat from your hands. I attacked it with a fork. The turkey was good, the bacon good but not much of it, the avocado was past its prime. I really love the sourdough buns they use for their round sandwiches, but I was severely disappointed by the Artisan White sub bun. Nothing artisan about it, just prison bread shaped like a sub bun. The original sandwiches and pizzas remain excellent. They will keep me coming back, but beware these new items. read more

Driving through College Station on our way to visit Texas A &M University we decided to pick up some Schlotzsky's. While on the way I went to their website and placed the order online so that when we reached our destination it would be ready. It was perfect timing. As we drove up and parked my husband went in and picked up our order. For my lunch I ordered the Turkey Bacon Sandwich which has turkey, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and onions. It comes with mayo but I ordered it without mayo and added bacon and mustard. It was a good sandwich. I could tell that the ingredients were fresh and they provided plenty of turkey. I just picked my kids up and they asked for Schlotsky's pizza. I went to use the app and it is down. I go to the drive thru of this location that is near their Nana's house but not particularly close to our home in Bryan. The app is still out. I ask at the drive thru and they tell me the app has been down. I ordered food the important part being the medium sandwich which I asked for no chipotle mayo. I get my food minus the points and minus the 5 dollar medium sandwich after a purchase of 10 dollars or more because they can only ring it up with the app and the app is down. Now this special is only good until the 3rd so I likely will now miss out. Then I get the food. I ask the lady who has been so not-politely telling me the app is down and she can't breathe or be polite or give good service without the app it seems. I ask "you got the no chipotle mayo because I have an egg allergy." I am assured there is no chipotle mayo and a big truck is on my back bumper trying to push me out of the drive thru. I leave get home 44 minutes later to be greeted by my 11 dollar sandwich with what must be extra chipotle mayo. So I got screwed out of the 5 dollar deal, save me 6 dollars, and the points for the two pizzas and the sandwich. And now I get to throw the 11 dollar sandwich into the garbage can. I am especially upset that I asked at the window if they got the no mayo and mentioned an allergy and it was loaded with it. Sad state for customer service here. read more

Had an issue with a food item at this location. I called to let the manager know that I had mold on my turkey on the "Turkey Bacon Ranch" sandwich. First, I was corrected by the manager: "We don't have a Turkey Bacon Ranch". Myself, "oh, I meant the Turkey Bacon Club". Then, I said "well , I was about to eat my sandwich and then I saw that the turkey looked like it had mold on it. The manager told me "none of our meat has mold on it. It's all frozen" I said "Sir, my turkey has Green Mold on it". He replies "No, I'm not giving you a refund because it's not molded" I went up there to speak with him. I was asked to wait 7 minutes to speak with manager all for him to tell me, "I gave you a refund" and walked away while I was talking. For anyone reading, if this isn't mold, can you tell me what it is? It's one thing for an employee to be rude, but for a manager to have a piss poor attitude is UNACCEPTABLE. Let's be sure that we're giving leadership roles to capable candidates that have people skills. I'm not sure why "Brian" (if that is truly his name) was selected to be a shift lead. When I go to Vegas, I play slots. But when I come to Texas, I eat at Schlotz. Ky's, that is. This is a national chain, but it seems to be centered around these parts, and the first time I tried it was down the road in Austin, and I really liked it. It's sort of a Bagel Sandwich place but massive in this region, and eating too many of these will make you massive, too. As time goes by and my tastes improve and become significantly more elaborate, I've realized that most locations most of the time are pretty average. But it's still better than most fast food and sandwich chains, especially the evil awful Subway, and my view is that the stuff here still tastes a little bit good and even a little bit of special in some ways. Overall I tossed them a 3-star rating for this College Station location, and it's a good one but not one of the very best I've tried. read more

This is easily the worst Schlotzsky's I've ever been to, 1 star is generous. I am an Engineering student at TAMU so I frequent convenient restaurants near campus. To say I have ever had a pleasant experience here, would be a lie. I love Schlotzky's but the staff here are dingy and upon entering my first time I was vehemently greeted by a rude manager named "Skye" who yelled at me for bringing my skateboard inside. I'd understand if it were handled respectfully as I were to be a paying customer but being yelled at when it could've been pleasantly and easily avoided is the mark of a shitty managerial staff. Also how is a skateboard inside a restaurant against health code and how is it different from everything else everyone brings in? Its not like I put it in the kitchen, I propped in up out of the way near where I had planned to sit. The staff here seem to say anyone is the manager just to mitigate a problem, too. Food never ceases to be lukewarm. The icing on the cake was one evening I confronted the staff concerning a sandwich I had ordered earlier in the day but had left the restaurant before checking it, in a rush. When I went to eat my LARGE $17 sandwich it had 3 shreds, I LITERALLY MEAN SHREDS of lettuce, a couple slimy tomatoes, uneven mayo in a thick squiggly line, and a thick slab of turkey on cold sourdough, like they didn't even try. When I went in with a video showing the sandwich later in the day, they didn't know what to say. Each staff member just said, "I didn't make that", they then offered to remake me the sandwich before talking to the manger to which the manager said it wasn't possible to give me a new one. In the time I was inside just complaining about how this block of meat that doesn't reach the edge of the bread they call 'food' keeps getting served, I got a $30 parking ticket in the Schlotzsky's lot that I have to pay because of an absolutely disgusting, cold sandwich and the fact that I didn't scan validate my parking for a 5 minute rant that shouldn't have even happened from the get go. I just had an Original at the University Dr. Schlotzsky's. I haven't been there for a long time, because I fell out of love with their bread. I had liked this franchise when it was a tiny building on Texas Ave. The owner sold the franchise, and maybe a year or so later the current location was built. I think the old owner did the bread better, and now the bread isn't just very dense, but is also too hard. Today's sandwich had a bit less meat than I've grown accustomed to at Firehouse Subs, and New York, N.Y. Fresh Deli, but not as skimpy as Subway or Quizno's. The Original contains ham and two kinds of salami, with cheddar, mozzarella, & parmesan oven-melted as the buns & meat are toasted in a conveyer-style pizza oven. It is then dressed with the tomatoes, olives, & veggies. I found ham unremarkable, and the salami was bland. The cheeses were completely dominated by shredded cheddar, and there weren't heaps of it, either. I couldn't taste even a hint of mozzarella or parmesan. I hadn't observed them apply their 'signature dressing', but it smelled like a light vinegar dressing, but I didn't taste anything as bold as an ordinary Italian dressing. This was a medium Original, priced at $4.99+tax, and was quite filling. I do remember that both the old franchise, and this location used to offer a large size which was a 8 or 9 inch monster, but I didn't se this option on the menu anymore. read more

You've simply earned it. never have I actually felt the need or desire to actually make a Yelp account to review service somewhere, yet here, today, I am. I write not just this ad a critque of your middling at best service, but to be a pillar of fire warning those yet fortunate enough to not experience what I have to stay away. I waited in your silly little drive-thru line for about ten minutes as the three cars ahead of me all came and went. Fine, completely understandable. As my turn to speak to what I can only imagine to be modern day equivalent to the great and powerful Oz behind the Schlotsky's speaker arrives, I pull forward with jubilance. I simply cannot wait to order my precious Beef Bacon Smoke-cheesy. Utter dismay befalls my face as I pull forward and see the Beef Bacon Smoke-cheesy has been temporarily removed from the menu due to industry shortages. That's ok, I tell myself. I understand that times have been hard recently, and the roast beef industry just isn't what it used to be. I settle on the Original sandwich. Though, there again lies a conundrum. I see under your menus an official sign, not just a piece of paper like the Beef Bacon Smoke-cheesy sign mind you, but an honest to goodness stylized plastic sign that states due to industry shortages, Salt and Vinegar, Barbeque, and Sour Cream and Onion chips have temporarily been removed from the menu. The sign states that Schlotsky's, too, is so sorry for the inconvenience, and encourages me to try some of their other chip options. So you mean plain potato chips. That's the only other option. This, though an inconvenience it most certainly was, did not dissuade my conviction. Afterall, it was my turn to would speak to Oz and certainly I had earned it. So I wait. And I wait. And I wait. I'm sitting at the drive-thru window like a dog realizing he's going to the vet. The slow realization comes over me... They're not ever going to take my order. I wait some more just to be sure. See, the way this store is laid out is so that the customer ahead of you, once ordered, will pull around a corner to the payment window, leaving the astonished person behind them to perhaps wonder if there's truly even anything around the corner. I got the Bacon Beefy SmokeCheezy - "Shaved Angus roast beef, smoked cheddar cheese, bacon and Chipotle mayo on toasted Sourdough bun" and my word it is delicious. I think it was the medium size for around $7 and it's really big! I ate half and was full - but it was so delicious it was hard for me to hold back from eating the rest. He asks if it's for here or to go and then hands me a number and moves on with the next customer. 25 minutes later, still no cinnabon. I go up and ask if it's still coming. The cashier says I should have gotten my cinnabon right when I ordered it. She takes it out of the reheater that it's been sitting in for this entire time and hands it to me. No concern or apology and just moves on with the next customer. The outside of the cinnabon was hard and dried to a crisp.
