Brookshire brothers is a beautiful grocery store that is so enjoyable to shop in, wonderful staff who are so cared for- their stories of employment there are so beautiful, it causes me catharsis every time I BB comes to mind. They have a wide selection of everything you need grocery wise. From the general unhealthy foods and snacks that most Americans won't sacrifice, to the ultra clean, minimal ingredients products me and all my mom friends prefer. The fresh cut meat looked so good today that I felt regret for my last purchase of meat proteins (from HEB). Their sirloins were so beautiful they stopped me in my tracks. Will definitely be buying my meat there next time. I almost didn't wanna leave this review because, selfishly, I don't want the masses to find the golden gems (lol), however, I would not be settled in my integrity if I were to gatekeep the glory of BB. Lastly, the culture of BB is "pro-kids". They host amazing events for kids. I'm so proud of them because they are taking action to end the old narrative of "children should be seen and not heard". As a business professional, I know you can only cultivate that type of environment when the core energy has a high moral standard. I see that standard reflected in all parts of their establishment. Resembles a small grocery store attached to a gas station and outdoor stadium seating theater. Very clean and spacious.

Came here for the first time with my kids. Basically, a medium sized grocery store conveniently located in the vicinity of the Texas A&M apartments and school. Gas and the food are pretty cheap, the groceries not so much. Definitely can find cheaper groceries from HEB and Krogers. I must say that the food is pretty reasonable for the amount of food you get and the quality. HEB and Krogers got some hot deli items as well, but Brookshire Brothers, I feel are on a higher level. They have BBQ, sushi, pizza, salad bar, and fried stuff. We ended up ordering 12 pieces of fried chicken, 1lb of fried catfish (8-10pcs), large mash potatoes w/ gravy, and medium mac'n cheese. The breading on the chicken and catfish are very flavorful, although, it might be too much breading, but it was perfectly fried, that it tasted like a part of the skin. The downfall for me, is I wished that they served the bucket chickens with just dark meat instead having to get breast and wings. The staff also informed me that if you're ordering anything more than 12 pieces of chicken, I'd have to phone order it in because it takes approximately 17 minutes to fry. I'll definitely be back because like I stated earlier, pretty decent price for the amount of food I got. I paid less than $50 for all the food I ordered for my family. The staff are very friendly. The parking lot is huge. They have a dining area upstairs and a bar downstairs where you can watch sports on TV. read more

If you are in need of deli meats, please go somewhere else. After 7-8 minutes of standing at the deli station looking for someone to help me and all the employees avoiding eye contact with me, someone finally came to help. I asked for a pound of shaved pepper turkey. After a minute or so of looking for the right turkey she finally started slicing it. When she brings it up to weight it, I see that it's very thick (not even close to shaved) so I nicely referred to the sign showing the different thickness of sliced turkey that I would like it shaved. She told me she hasn't been trained on the slicer so she doesn't know (incredibly dangerous). Eventually, I say I'm fine with the thick turkey she claimed is "shaved" and went to check out. She charged me for Cajun turkey which hopefully isn't more expensive than what I actually asked for/got. If the employees were properly trained I could have been in and out of there in 5 minutes max but I was there for 20. read more

There is some confusion on Yelp about which Brookshire Brothers is which. There is a great big megastore with entertainment at 455 George Bush right on the main road near campus. There is a tiny little Brookshire Brothers Express inside the Park West apartments. This is at 503 George Bush. The pictures on the 503 website actually are pictures of the 455 megastore. * * * This is a review of the megastore. Grocery wise - HEB has more selection and better prices - which matters on groceries. But there are some good specialty items only available at Brookshire. So sometimes Brookshire could be the right call. * * * That said ... That is not the primary appeal of the property. The primary appeal of Brookshire is their gigantic hot food operation. The Brookshire people went all out on the student lunch and snack market - Which is a great idea because that part of College Station is a restaurant desert. The selection is enormous. The seating is fantastic. Yeah - no duh they have a coffee bar. And with their spectacular physical setup this might be one of the best coffee shop setups in College Station. Foodwise they have sushi, pizza, sandwiches, tacos, fried chicken, and and and and and. The selections are jaw dropping. The quality of the food itself ... Uh ... er ..... uh ... Well, there certainly were a lot of choices! But frankly given the attractiveness of the seating and the room And the absolute low quality of other choices in the area ... I have a very high incentive to "make this work". Given the huge menu, there is probably SOMETHING on the menu that is pretty good. (Lattes are hard to mess up. Standard sandwiches are hard to mess up.) With trial and error, you could probably find your preferred 25 or 30 percent. Order off that side and you are safe. And now you can enjoy the wonderful work tables and the balcony seating. * * * Just for the record, the people and the staff are really really nice. Everyone is helpful. Unlike most other supermarkets - the store is "super-staffed" so there are lots of free people hanging around capable of helping you out. I would like to give a special call-out to the old guy who works the fried chicken stand. This guy has to be the best salesman in Texas. I came to the counter just wanting like a chicken thigh for a mini-lunch. By the time this old charmer had worked his magic, I was leaving with two huge pieces of chicken, multiple vegetables and an industrial sized vat of banana pudding. Never mind that the chicken, vegetables and pudding were not all that good. It was just a delight to be hanging out with that guy at the counter. I would happily buy something from him again ... Once I found which of his items are in the top 25%. * * * Overall, a great hangout in a town that really needs great hangouts. Brookshire Brothers in my home town is solely a grocery store. This BB is different. I've been here more times as a social spot than a grocery store. But it's always a plus when I can do both. First of all, Lillian is an amazing bartender. She's charismatic and funny and really engages with the customers. She really contributed to the overall experience. The overall atmosphere is great with multiple big TVs. It's the sports bar scene without the grittiness of many CSTAT sports bars. Great for a low key happy hour with colleagues. read more
