They've typically gone above and beyond, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I've had to reschedule my three kids' cleanings a couple of times due to illness, and this time I left work early and picked my kids up from school early to make our 2:00 PM appointment. My middle daughter was delayed returning from a field trip, so as soon as we got her, we headed straight to the office. I called right away to let them know we'd be about 10 minutes late, and was told there is a strict 10-minute policy. I said I would do my best to make it within that window. We arrived and walked in at exactly 2:10 PM, but were immediately told we'd have to reschedule. I explained the situation and asked if there was any flexibility--even just to have two of my kids seen--but was told no. I understand having policies in place, but it was frustrating that there was zero flexibility, especially when we made every effort to get there and communicated ahead of time. What made it more disappointing is that we've had multiple visits where we've waited 10+ minutes to be seen without issue. It felt like there wasn't the same consideration given in return. After years of being loyal patients, this experience was really disheartening, and unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Then the worst thing happened. My tooth broke and even though I babied it for months so I wouldn't have to go see a dentist, it eventually fought back. The gums became infected and then one day the nerve touched the infection and I felt a pain I had never experienced....and I have four children. I was desperate and called JL Dental. Dr. Laura Mears fit me in right away and everyone in the office was amazing. After getting rid of the infection she brought me in for a root canal. It really was a breeze. She and her assistant were kind, gentle, and explained every step as they did it. I felt very comfortable and I am extremely pleased with the care I received. I will go back for my crown and will likely continue my care to avoid emergencies in the future.

I was gratefully they were able to get me in for a cleaning, I was supposed to be the 1st appt. of…read morethe day. got there 15 min. early as they told me to; however, 5 people went in before me and they didn't call me in till 20 min. after my appt. time. got in, had over 21 xrays & a 360!! not sure why all that is necessary. they found a cavity, but said it would require a root canal instead of a filling. I told them I don't believe in root canals with all the info out there on them and my previous dentist (who moved states) also didn't agree with doing them and they literally laughed at me. said the dentist must have wanted to go a more expensive route... I left there after 2 hours, yes, just for a cleaning, with a treatment plan of $3900!! that's with insurance. I couldn't believe it. I went and got a 2nd opinion from a dentist who didn't take my insurance and walked away with a successful filling (no root canal needed) and only $110. ** Be aware of what they say needs to be done! Might be to pay for all their unnecessary technology equipment **

Ultimately, I was told that I was welcomed to stay with my child for the exam portion but I'd need to leave for the x-rays (okay, no problem) as well as the following and more invasive cleaning portion. Being they are listed as a pediatric dentist, I'm pretty surprised this isn't already a no-brainer policy - minors should definitely be accompanied by their parents at all times... for everyone's sake and liability. I enjoyed my own experience as a customer there but expecting to be left alone with juvenile children, in a highly angsty situation, is a non-starter.
