We recently had our basement finished by Meyer Contracting and are very pleased with the results…read more We sat down with five different contractors before choosing Meyer. After meeting the crew that came out on day one, we knew we made the right choice. We also could tell that everyone on the crew enjoyed their job and the company they worked for. The entire process was very smooth from start to finish and everyone who showed up to do the work were very kind and professional. We were kept informed with what work would be done each day and they stuck to the schedule as promised. David Neu originally came out and listened to what we wanted, added a few great suggestions, put together and sent us a very detailed drawing of what the finished project would look like. He also explained the entire process from start to finish. He made us feel comfortable with having Meyer as our contractor. He was very kind and sociable and had a great sense of humor. Our project was completed as promised with only a few very minor touch-up items at the end which they promptly took care of. We were amazed with how clean they kept everything with so much construction going on. They take pride in their work and made sure we were completely satisfied with everything. The office staff (Rachael and Sara) were very kind and helpful with all of our question when we called. Overall, we are completely satisfied, and we would highly recommend Meyer to anyone looking for a home restoration project. Jesse and Pixie H.

The crew members were friendly and became part of our family. We actually looked forward to them on site every day. Dave Neu our estimator was available with questions, etc. and showed incredible patience as we navigated the tough decisions involving my 88 y/o mother's move from FL to our lower level. I can't imagine using anyone else.

My partner made the mistake of helping cover some of the contractor's expenses upfront, and the project was never finished. We were left with doors that don't open, doors held on with liquid nails, unfinished cabinets, a dented dryer, and incomplete painting throughout the laundry room. After paying, the contractor sent a Formal Notice of Termination and left the job in an unacceptable state. His contract stated (the project is substantially complete) whatever that means.... Had Ryan at Family 1st Contracting in O'Fallon Mo. do a complete remodel of two 2nd floor bathrooms…read morefor us in the spring of 2021 and paid them more than $24,000 for labor alone to do the work. They were professional during the bidding process. But once work began we did not see Ryan much, had to threaten him to get him to come by and check on his crew and their shoddy work. They put down paper runners on the floors to keep from ruining our hardwoods, but only after we reminded them too many times. They also left a mess to clean up after, which Katie promised she would be coming back to do and never did. Here we are 3 years later and we're having to pay someone to replace the floor in both because it's so uneven the toilets started leaking. Also, he talked us into having them pour the shower pan instead of buying a prefab and it's also leaking. Because they didn't caulk or put enough slant in it to make the water run towards the drain to drain properly. Please be aware and more diligent than we were in checking closely behind them. Don't think just because they pull permits and have inspections done means the work is done properly. We realize now St. Louis County Inspectors obviously don't care if it's poor workmanship either, they only care if you have interconnected smokes in your house. Which also had to be installed before they would sign off and pass inspection.

Laminate counter-tops didn't get trim on the cut edges, cabinets didn't get the foot kicks covered. The owner seems very narcissistic as well because at one point I asked him if he obtained the permits (which usually the responsibility of the contractor and in this case was because it was in our contract) and he retorted it was my responsibility. I showed him the contract and he said that he did get the permits. Thinking he was lying to me, I called the city and found there were no permits issued. I confronted him and asked him to stop work until he got the permits. After that it was a no show from him and his crew, no responses via e-mail, calls, or texts. The floor, sink and back splash were started, but were never completed. I had to get someone else to finish the job...correctly. I have read some good reviews for this business but it seems like he is hit or miss on if he'll get the job done. Even if for you he is a hit and does the job right, I hope he got a permit otherwise if the city finds out they'll fine you big at the very least and at worst, make you tear it out. Good luck to anyone choosing this business.
