Just so you know: The Brown County Antique Mall is actually three different buildings…read more The main one, which sits just off the road, is your typical antique store. It has all kinds of tchotchkes, doodads, baubles, trinkets and other old and unique miscellany. The store is separated into booths, and there are different things in each booth. I saw all kinds of things that I wanted, but I had to physically stop myself from buying some of the vintage milk glass mugs. No one needs a milk glass mug with a buffalo on it, but the heart wants what the heart wants, sometimes. If you leave the main building and walk outside, and then turn to the right, you will see the second building: Route 46 Vintage. This vintage store deserves its own review, so you can read my separate review for that. But I'll just say that this is where you'll find funky vintage clothing and accessories. Then, there's a little shed-looking building that has more antiques and fun stuff, and also handmade goods from local artisans. Basically, the Brown County Antique Mall is a little campus full of eclectic treasures. You can definitely spend an hour or so here (or more!) looking through all of the stuff and buying all the things.

So we are definitely going back to this shop to check out what we missed and to see what new items were added by the vendors. The building we did see was a good size and the variety abounds. I love costume jewelry and was able to find several pieces that I liked and I brought home. There were big outdoor items on the front porch when we walked up. The place is right on the highway and easy to get to with adequate parking. The prices in the booths varied greatly with some being very reasonable and some I thought were high but I think that is the same as most antique/vintage stores of this type. We had a lot of fun shopping there and when we checked out the cashier was nice and helpful and told us about a couple store policies that we asked about. North of the Historic District in Seymour, a multi-purpose museum and Arts center has a bit of…read moreeverything for an enjoyable visit. Located at the end of a long gravel driveway off Ewing, the Center owes its origin to locals, including John Mellencamp who was raised in Seymour. The campus has a home (circa 1851) that houses special revolving collections of art and memorabilia as well as artwork by John Mellencamp and his family. There is also a permanent collection of items about Mellencamp's career which is fun to see the changes in style from his beginnings until now. At one time, there were multiple Mellencamp original paintings but some were loaned and had not been returned at the time of my visit. I had just missed a tribute to Al Unser that had been on display for the tie in to the Indy 500. There is also the Connor Museum of Antique Printing that portrays the history of printing as you walk around inside. They have antique printing presses on site and during tours, demonstrations of the process. There is also ceramic/pottery making with classes and demonstrations on certain days. A garden "Minutes to Memories" has been established outside the printing museum. To the north is a Craft Barn and an amphitheater that features live music on weekend evenings during the summer. For a small community, there is a lot to see for free (donations are accepted). After passing the Goat Milk Stuff billboards and signs every time I head north on I-65, I finally…read moregot the chance to stop and check it out. It's really easy to get to GMS right off the interstate, and it's about as quaint as you could imagine. I pulled into the parking lot, past a large, fenced-in pasture filled with -- you guessed it -- goats! And I started in the front building, right off the parking lot, which sells goat milk soaps and other wonderfully scented products. The walls were lined with soaps of so many scents. I ended up going with two to give as gifts. I was impressed with the price too: $6 each. They also carried lotion and other skin care products. Next I went around back to the other building, where the food is kept. The delicious, delicious food. Here you'll find gelato, yogurt and cheese as well as great options for lunch. When I stopped the special was pizza. I wish I would have had enough time to eat, but instead I bought some of the chevre goat milk cheese and feta marinated in herbs de Provence to bring home with me. Also add to my wish list that I wish I could have had time to go on a tour of the property. I'll have to do that the next time I travel north through Indiana.
