I shop this location often and see I'll have to start checking the expiration dates before purchasing items. This is the second time in less than a month getting expired products unknowingly. Today, I went shopping and one of my purchases was a bag of Schnucks brand pork rinds. When I arrived home, I put my groceries away and sat down to enjoy my snack. Well, it was very stale tasting. I look at the expiration date and they expired December 25, 2025!!! I called the store and was told to bring them back with the receipt for either a refund or product replacement. It doesn't always have what I need but that is because it is popular. The people are friendly and helpful. They know the names of the regulars, and know where things are located. The food aisles are clean, as are the bathrooms. If you have not tried food at the deli, I highly recommend it. The fresh crispy fried chicken is better than at KFC if you can believe that. read more

The big thing today at the store was me on the floor. My legs turned into jelly after I was trying to get something on the lowest shelf. I couldn't get up. Had no strength in my legs. Anyway, a young man employed by Schnucks and another shopper helped me and seated me on one of those go carts. I had a little better strength. Wa able to take my groceries to the car. Still with weakness but it was handled. Thanks to everyone who helped me. I think the worst part was I was sitting on the floor in the liquor aisle. It was a positive experience. read more

Ghetto location strikes again! This time with a HIRING SCAM! They promise you a job and sell your information on the dark web! My mother passed of Cancer recently. Before that I was helping to take care of her. After watching her die I am trying to get back into the workforce. It's very difficult, but it's what you have to do. This was all in my résumé to explain the brief gap in work history. I didn't accept any money as a caregiver for my mom so it's not a job. I dropped off a copy of my résumé there. A few days later I got a text, saying to come back to Schnucks as a Cashier. I went to the store for my orientation paperwork and was told they had mistaken me for a former employee who used to work there. This was their first lie. I'm from Michigan and all my work history is in Michigan. Unless Kelly their hiring manager is illiterate I'm not sure how they thought I was a different person from my resume. I tried to interview that day but they told me everyone had to come to open interviews. Seems odd right away: they send me a clear, written promise of a job I show up they say they want me to come to open interviews. Won't even arrange an interview for me that day. I suspect they're hiring manager; Kelly gets paid by the head for how many people show up to these interviews. I also suspect they sell your email address. More on that later. At the interview, they told me for a SECOND TIME I had the job. They just needed me to sign up on Schnucks.com. That's really odd. When you think about it for a second because I was at open interviews. They should've had orientation packets, printed out and ready to go. But they didn't. They just wanted people to fill out more forms so they could get more personal information. After I complied, I got an email saying I was going to have a phone interview. I was a little bewildered, because I was told that I was hired already. But I went through with the phone interview passed with flying colors and was told by Catherine Russell that she was going to see if they just felt comfortable hiring me. No more interviews. I wait and hear nothing when I finally go back to the store. I am told that they want me to work at a different location. They don't know which location off the top of their head but it's the one nearest their store. I went to the two stores closest to theirs, was told that they have never heard of me and that that's not how the hiring process works. You are hired at whatever store you interview at. Around this time my device got hacked. I lost valuable files off of my Dropbox. When I saw the store I was trying to get into still had now hiring signs up I began to suspect that my information has been sold by Kelly on the dark web. They spoke with my Stepdad and set up a meeting for today. The manager "Mark then refused to speak to me." I sent my concerns to Cathrine Russell in an email. She brushed me off. She's fine with her employees at this location running a bait and switch scam and she's fine with them selling our personal information to third parties without permission. She does not feel this matter is worth looking into. This no way to treat people. They still have those now hiring signs up by the way. Unless you want your identity stolen or your phone or computer hacked, I would not give these people any email address. They are preying on people who want to work and support themselves and their families. They are not trust worthy. Just read the other reviews. Go to Target Walmart or Derbergs. Much safer. read more

Came into this schnucks today for the first time. The parking lot was clean and there weren't a bunch of carts all over the place. The layout of this one is a little different than most of the other locations that I have been to, so it can be confusing. The freezers are in the front instead of on the back sides. There is a whole pharmacy inside though which is nice. There was only 1 actual register open though. There were multiple self checkouts but only one actual cashier. I came in for deli goods and the sushi, but was disappointed to see that there was only one sushi tray left. read more

This Schnucks has been at this location for as long as I can remember. The store is always well stocked, clean and organized. It's a little older and probably could use a remodel, but other than that, I have no major complaints. Shop there periodically and latest visit was the Sunday before Christmas. I expected long waits in the checkout line and little selection. I was pleasantly surprised with no real line to speak of. But....I must have gotten into the slowest line with a relatively new cashier. She couldn't tell a zucchini from a cucumber, and I had to instruct her on a couple of occasions on names of other produce. She was nice and cordial so I patiently waited for her to ring my groceries. The young lady bagging the groceries must have had someplace better to be. She didn't smile or say one word. read more

I just got a horrible gut retching experience at the Schnucks in Fairview heights . I was doing self checkout trying to by my much needed items when the machine ate my money. I asked for assistance when i met one of the most bitter people named Kelly. She tried fixing the machine, much appreciated. She was rude the entire time. she then said she needed to check me out. she gave me my change. then asked for a tip. i dont know about yall but i usally dont give tips to cashiers at grocery stores. i kindly said "Im saving up for something. im sorry" she then said that since she was so kind helping me she deserved a tip. i left just saying thanks for your help. I do enjoy my local Schnucks because they have some of the friendliest staff working there. I enjoy going there because of the ease of finding what I need. The store is well organized. My only request is that they bring back a few items that they used to carry including the Stouffers Welsh Rarebit and the Spinblend. read more

Not the best Schnucks around. This is an old store that has not been updated. I was able to grab a few things for work on the go that I knew were on sale this week but there was no prepacked prepared foods department at this location. Very outdated. read more

I don't know what it is about this store, the "ghetto Schnucks," as it seems to be known, but whenever I walk in this store, I feel the life being sucked out of me. The vibe in this store is depressing and the crime rate must have gone up dramatically in this store, as there are cameras everywhere and you can't even buy $4 worth of stuff with a credit card without getting asked for your ID. The service is okay in this store, and has actually improved. A year or two ago I got so frustrated waiting in line with a full cart that I simply left the cart and the store and went to Dierbergs. There were about ten people in line with one checkout counter open. This store is okay if you need a couple items, but if you have serious shopping to do, I'd go to Dierbergs. Also, to top off the experience, a friend of mine saw a janitor steal a huge bottle of liquor at this store. He grabbed it off the shelf and stuffed it in his shirt. read more

Walked into this location to grab some fish, the deli sign says open until 8 attempted to order fish and was told that stopped at 5:30 when speaking with Cindy she was so rude as if she was speaking to a child she began to b argumentative when asked the manager he was extremely condescending and short he was completely unbothered and treated my family and I as if we were a nuisance. I used to do nearly all my grocery shopping here. However, in the last two or three years I have noticed that going there has more often caused me to leave feeling annoyed or frustrated. Whether it is by them not honoring their advertised prices, even when it is valid and you have the flier in your hand, or the store creating limits on sale items and not clearly posting thr limit or the price you will pay if you exceed the limit Or being charged for more items than you purchased. I can't think of a shopping trip that I have made there in the last 6 months where I haven't been annoyed and felt ripped off when I looked over my receipt at home. After too many trips like that, I just can't see shopping at Schnucks. I think I need to stick to Fresh Thyme, Aldi and Target. read more

I have been going to this store for a looooong time. I have to say the fact that there is only one bagger at the checkout lines every time I come in now is ridiculous. This poor lady that has been here for years and just trying to make a living has to check people out AND bag everything when it is super busy that is outrageous she is completely over worked for her age. Don't get me wrong I have no problem bagging my own groceries to help her out, I do this just about every time I go now. But you can't tell me there isn't some high school or college student somewhere who wouldn't mind getting a part time job bagging groceries for some extra money. I don't know what has happened to this store but they need to figure something out. read more

I have gone to this Schnucks since 3/2005. I have had some problems but nothing to write a review about. However, over the last 12 months I have had to return several of items d/t spoilage. It appears the spoilage is always on the bottom of the package where it is not easily noticed. On December 9, 2017 I purchased a name brand meat tray for a Christmas party. I was preparing the tray at home when I noticed one of the packets of meat (ham) was very discolored on the bottom side. I returned it to the store and the clerk credited my card and gave me the vin number off the package and said I should call the company and inform them of the problem. I did not think this should be handled me but by the store. It is your quality control issue. Today, my husband purchased some mandarin oranges there. As I went to put them away I noticed that one of the oranges was spoiled and moldy in the bottom of the package. read more
