Excellent and fast. Even with no reservation we were seated quickly and a knowledgeable waitress helped us make fast choices on menu. The food was heavy, not salty, diner fare. They made burgers, omelette, egg sandwiches and very good meat loaf! Coffee was good and hot. Prices were cheap. Plates large (no need for apps along with a main course). The Schodack Diner also has some really nifty street views - so one can chat and pass the time with no efforts, as you watch the goings on driving past. Review: 4 star food

    Pancake deluxe with home fries
    Hunter C.

I had rather low expectations as I walked into Schodack Diner and this place met those expectations. I love diner food, but only when it's done right and this was not done right. I ordered the pancake deluxe which came with two eggs and sausage. I also ordered a side of home fries. To start, the pancakes were a generic boxed kind that were dry and had virtually no flavor. I drenched them with syrup, but the syrup was straight out of the package. Why can't places give you fresh maple syrup? I would happily pay extra. Next, the eggs which I ordered over easy, tasted extremely weird. I honestly don't know if they fresh because they tasted a bit sour. Furthermore, the home fries weren't awful, but they were undercooked and needed more seasoning. In contrast, the sausage was by far the best thing here. The sausage links had great flavor and were juicy. When it's all said and done, Schodack Diner is a massive waste of potential and a subpar diner .

This was our first time coming to this diner. We were tended to right away on a busy Saturday. Very nice waitress, who got our orders in and out within a timely fashion. The bacon was delicious and I have a strong suspicion the butter was homemade, cannot confirm. Good coffee!

These people care and also do the food right. The portions and prices are very good. I've eaten there twice and always leave absolutely stuffed. The seafood Kebob meal was fantastic. I've paid double right down the street for 1/2 the portion and this tasted better. Last visit, I had the shrimp on pasta, and although passable, this Kebob meal was leagues better. 3 for last visit, 4 for this visit, which makes it 3.5 but I rounded up because service flavor and portion was so good this time.

The bar is attractive. It's the first thing you see when you come in and it was very busy. There's also a good size dining area with more than a dozen tables. On this particular day all of the tables were occupied by 1pm and there was a line of would-be diners waiting to be seated. It was a Friday and the sun was shining brightly. The arctic blast that we had been experiencing finally broke. This was first milder winter day in a long time. It seems the good weather brought out the crowds. The staff admitted they were a bit surprised by the turnout. I understand why the community is drawn to this place. Both the decor and the staff are so cheerful. I ordered a fully dressed hamburger, onions and etc. I also had coleslaw and macaroni salad. It was all great except that my medium well done burger was a bit more charred than I would have liked. I would take off a half point for that, but kudos to the kitchen and the entire staff for making it through the onslaught of customers without appearing to break a sweat. I'd like to return another day when things are a bit less busy. I'm pretty sure the burgers will be perfect then.

Jimmy's Lakeside Grill. Nassau, New York. They have a very nice selection on the menu. Fish and chips. Fish sandwich. I decided to get the bacon cheeseburger and chose macaroni salad in addition to the side of french fries that came with it The bacon cheeseburger was very delicious when had my Frist bite Some of the juices came out onto the plate so I know it was a fresh burger, not frozen. Very flavorful I should've asked for raw onion. I always like onion on my burgers. It was definitely an 8 ounce burger. The french fries were fantastic. Crispy on the outside . With a really good potato flavor. They had some very nice seasoning on the french fries. I talked to the cook afterwards and she said that's their secret family recipe the seasoning on the fries. It was definitely a very filling portion, the burger, french fries and the macaroni salad. I did manage to have a little more room for ice cream. The soft serve was delicious with chocolate syrup on top. The food was very delicious fresh and hardy portion of french fries and the macaroni salad was only $10.87. Ice cream was just $2.00 All that wonderful food for under 14 bucks !! Now I don't have to worry about having any food for the rest of the evening I'll definitely come back here and try the fish sandwich next time. So many good things to choose from. I walked the half block from my hotel room and saw the lighted sign on the building drawing be to City Beer Hall. The bar is old school wood, long tables, and people generally having a good time. I was alone so chose the bar for sitting because that is more convenient for me and the wait staff. The beer menu was long with a few regionals new to me. Too many sours though for my taste, but those are popular now. I am not going to talk about the beers available because those will surely change by the time you read this. I ordered a beer and checked out the food menu. There were some good looking items on the menu, I really wanted a good pizza after my earlier airport pizza debacle, but a whole pizza was too much for one guy. I discussed the food choices with my friendly bartender and settled on the chicken nuggets and a side of fries. The nuggets are hard breaded from thighs and pretty good. The fries were crispy, well seasoned, and overly abundant. Overall the meal was great! It was Thursday night and they had a trivia-like game that was related to Family Feud so I played that. Might have stayed a little later than I should have but the beer was good. I was looking at the beer refrigerator and saw Fiddlehead IPA and asked my bartender about it. He was not really keen on it but that is the best beer they had there, but that is one really good beer. Later I notice that was the beer they were giving you if you ordered the $8 beer and a shot, which is an excellent value! There was some kind of drama this night. There was a lady who first tried to order Jager Bombs for her table and the bartender told her sorry we don't do those so she ordered Tito's shots instead. Well this ended about how you would expect with her losing a credit card and blaming everyone in sight for her problems. The bartender and manager were S-tier professionals managing her and keeping the food and beer flowing to the rest of us. Guys, thank you for your service! If you are in downtown Albany and you are hungry or thirsty hit up the City Beer Hall.

The City Beer Hall fits the bill. Located on Howard Street, the City Beer Hall has the local hangout vibe for professionals in town like me and locals wanting a beer and a pizza and fun times. The building at one point housed the city's old telephone company, and now is a cool pizza bar joint with a speakeasy that wasn't open when I went. The large room that houses the bar and long communal tables with high ceilings and large windows is like a Biergarten that is works great for happy hours and evening hangouts. Pizza wise, I was pleased with their Hot Honey Pizza that balances sweet, savory, and spicy flavors between its delicious crust, pepperoni, creamy ricotta, tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh basil, and a lovely drizzle of hot honey. I enjoyed the pizza with a Ommegang Blueberry Falls that was a "Blueberry Kolsch" whose crisp and slightly sweet flavors balanced well against the spicy and savory I was noshing. The only downside was I found the service behind the bar to be a bit slow and distracting from conversations with other customers. I felt I was forgotten until I finally flagged for the check. But overall, the City Beer Hall was a solid experience highlighted by their hot honey pizza.

We approached just as they were opening for the day on a Saturday. (Slightly after noon) Not seeing many cars in the neighborhood and having the gps seem to "arrive" outside of an empty lot was an inauspicious start but when we pulled fully into the lot, we saw that they had put some work into the place and it had a nice modern look. Didn't get to take advantage of the nice outdoor seating area because the weather was rainy. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated at a comfortable table. Our timing was impeccable because the place was full within the next half hour. Our waitress deserves her own paragraph! She knew the menu inside and out and had tremendous pride in the food served and the awards they've won! Illusive is a "foodie" restaurant, every dish is elevated yet remains unfussy. For appetizers, we shared the street corn dip and tater tot poutine. The street corn dip was creamy and zesty. The tater tot poutine was revelatory, the cheese was melted perfectly, the gravy wasn't some jarred nonsense, and the tots themselves were crispy. I enjoyed the different textures of it, some more cheesy and some more gravy. My wife enjoyed a chicken Caesar salad and my daughter enjoyed a grilled chicken pesto sandwich. Her sandwich was a nice enough portion that she finished it leftover for dinner! I enjoyed the buffalo lemon pepper wings, the sauce was a nice blend of heat and zesty flavor. I appreciated the amount of wings they served, some restaurants are going for "shrinkflation" but Illusive provides a full portion! We received quality and personable service throughout a delicious meal, we will gladly return!
