Every time you go to this place specially when you haul a trailer or rent a truck come back after you dumped. If they don't tell you to come back, you have the right to do so. Scholl Canyon Landfill - Doors,granite,countertops - Junk Removal & Hauling Near Me - Glendale, California

Arrived from the west bound direction on the 134 (exited Colorado \ Figueroa) - you will eventually arrive at Figueroa if you take this exit - a curvy exit but it eventually brings to the Figueroa. When you do, make a right (there is a sign directing you to the right for the Scholl Canyon Landfill), you will pass the main gates, and basically drive on up the hill. Winding your way up this road (5-10 minutes), you will be heading towards the area where they weigh your vehicle \ ask you what it is that you are disposing of. There are two shacks that I remember seeing at this weigh station area. Each side of the two "weigh shacks" are truck (big rig) style scales, one on each side. The trucks and vehicles queue into 4 lanes and pass through. Once you are on the scale, you will need to get out of your vehicle and speak to the attendant inside the shack through a bank style teller window were they will ask what you are dumping. In this instance I was dumping off some old wooden dressers, a futon, some odd pieces of wood, pieces of metal (curtain rods), some bulky blankets, odds and ends of general trash that would be tough to dispose of in the city I live in. They take cash, credit \ debit cards and because of the bulk category of the dressers and futon I had, the price came out to be $215. The price would have been much lower (I think) if i didn't have all that bulky stuff. Once you pay for fee, you jump back in your vehicle and head on out, bearing to the left and heading up the hill (there are signs). When I arrived at ~ 8:20 am or so, there was some haze and fog in the air so I drove slow and just kept on going up and up. Eventually there was someone directing you at the plateau to keep on going straight ahead where another person was directing vehicles of where exactly to go - think of swap meet style parking, or events where there are no defined parking spaces - that person will direct each vehicle of where to go. When they point out where they want you to go, (what I did at least) is to drive close to that spot, hang a hard left or right and then back your vehicle in - that way you can open up your truck or whatever vehicle you have and simply toss your stuff out. Where ? Right on the ground in a pile - everything. All in one pile of your junk. That part was the easiest - simply throw it out. When you are done, drive on back down the way you came and jump back on freeway etc. It was a rather easy experience but for some reason I was a bit nervous of where to go what I needed to do. No need to be - the folks there are helpful and will point you in the right direction - didn't see any attitude from anyone there. If there is anything such as a "good" experience going to a dump \ landfill - I guess this was probably it. Easy and simple experience! :-) read more

This was my first time going to a dump like this. It's a little intimidating the first time you go. You need to bring, or buy from them, a safety vest. If you've got little kids that love dump trucks bring them and leave them in the car to watch the giant tractor from inside your car. It's pretty freaking amazing. It's a cool place to dump your junk, they don't accept everything though. It's nestled in the hills and with a nice winding road leading up to the dump site. Great view of LA from the top and it doesn't smell, I've been to way worse smelling landfills. read more

This place is a mission to get to , big hill lots of turns and curves. Prices are decent but dumping location is another mission to get to on its own. If your in a time crunch this place may not be the best choice read more

i had a normal passenger car with miscellaneous items. i waited in line (you'll see mostly big trucks) and found my car full of junk was just the "minimum load" and paid about $45 to dump my stuff. oh and btw, they do not accept trash from the city of Los Angeles, but it's only a verbal statement so you could just say the trash is from Glendale. after you pay, then you drive down to the dump part and simply dump your stuff on the ground and drive away. easy. at $45 for a carload of stuff, it's not cheap. read more

Had a horrible experience here today. Waited in line for 20 minutes, was told their ATM/ Credit wasn't working. Cash only. I had $46 not $48. Drove back down the hill, got more money, drove back up, waited another 25 minutes. I'm not a rocket scientist, but customer service is about communication. Why not post a few "cash only" signs on the road coming up the hill instead of making people wait and informing them at the front of the line?? Or maybe have someone walking through the massive lines of trucks informing people so there is less of a bottleneck. Most businesses have contingency plans for when the computers go down. Apparently no one in charge here has thought about that. F minus for customer service!! read more

i had never been to a landfill before so, i do not have anything to compare it to. the first time was a bit weird - i do not think they get a ton of first timers there. there was an expectation that i knew what i was doing... and i did not. i was not 100% sure what to do but got it figured out by watching the cars in front of me. you do have to be a resident of glendale - or say you are - in order to dump. and for pete's sake, don't use the office bathroom - use the port-o-potties. i got rebuked for using the open and available bathroom. read more
