I volunteered to redeem the munched plastic bottles, rattling cans, and occasional bottle we found while tidying up the neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised. Glendale Recycling Center is efficiently run and the service is great. The staff helps move the lines along and everyone is very nice and hardworking. And if I read the prices correctly, GRC pays a few cents more for plastics + cans than those SuperA grocery store guys in a delivery truck. I know this because I left the SuperA guy in Cypress Park when he decided to take his lunch 15 mins. early and close up shop. Glad I looked to YELP and found this place in a snap without wasting time. Also, this place is almost like an all-in-one recycling center where you can not only get CRV money, but also drop off old electronics, all those Amazon cardboard boxes, and some other things that you can't throw into your regular trash bin. (Some items they don't accept, but they'll direct you to where you can take them.) Since this was a pleasant & relatively painless experience, I just might make a daily habit out our Earth Day practice and return every now and then.

The Staples (6th & Vermont) near my home said they charge $30 to reset computers to the factory setting for recycling purposes. I didn't want to pay to donate. I found Greenly on Google. The gentleman who picks up all the calls was extremely friendly and helpful. And, the employee (Fernando), who was at the site was also very nice and helpful. Fernando took out the hard drive from my computer and destroyed it using a hard drive crusher right in front of my eyes. If you want to donate your computer, keyboard, mouse, cable, basically anything related to computers...this is the place that you should reach out to. The business is located on the second floor of an unassuming building, which is also occupied by Alpan Orthodontics. I had to drive around the block twice to find it. If you're going east on 3rd St. make sure to take that turn on Carondelet. Immediately to your left there will be the parking lot.

My friend and I got about half of what we usually do at another center. It's also a bit more dirty than my usual spot which my friend didn't love. But~ it's a recycling center...these places are innately grimey lol. However, it's hard to find reliably open and convenient recycling centers in DTLA and this seems to be one. Another big plus, they have a few parking spots. It does seem to get busy at peak times though. My friend and I went during a weekday lunch hour and it was packkeeeed! We had to spend the whole hour there because the line was so long. So try to avoid lunch hour if you can to save yourself the headache.
