    The late, great Newman
    Saulius M.

Dr. Kristin Kender was, in a word, an angel. She was kind, caring, patient and compassionate towards us, but most importantly to our beloved Newman. It was one of the worst days of our lives, but her demeanor, professionalism and sympathy made the day just a little easier. We are beyond grateful.

My sweet baby Riley, forever in my heart
    Dawn S.

When in the heartbreaking situation of having to say goodbye to a beloved furry family member, I highly recommend calling Crossroads Veterinary Hospice. I was in a place of having to schedule an appointment within a day or two, as my little Riley was fading fast and I knew it was time to say goodbye. They were able to schedule the appointment for the following day. Everyone I spoke with was professional and compassionate. Dr. Ellen arrived promptly and she has a very calming and understanding presence about her. She answered all questions thoroughly, was there when we needed and gave us space to say goodbye privately when we needed it as well. They also coordinated with the cremation services and provided transportation for that, so it was as stress free as it possibly could be. I was able to provide my fur baby with a peaceful passing with dignity, surrounded by his loved ones and for that I am so grateful.

These guys are prompt, very professional, and I couldn't of asked for a better service to come and take care of our furry buddy.

The front office staff reached…read moreout to let me know when they received the records from my former vet, and were always very professional and friendly. We were welcomed and shown into a room immediately, and our vet tech was wonderful. Our cat is a big old scaredy cat, so we really appreciated how kind and gentle both the vet tech and Dr. Tate were, and that they were even nice enough to wrap our cat in a blanket they misted in calming pheromones. One reason we left our last vet was because they kept trying to sell us on every test and unnecessary thing our cat didn't actually need. So, I was really grateful Dr. Tate did a great exam, told us possible tests (i.e. blood work options) and then let us make our decision without judgement. We're so grateful we found Dr. Tate!

In the annual check-up she detected a heart murmur and "gravely sounds" in my 6 y/o cat's lungs. She said she didn't think there was a need for additional testing, and told me to keep an eye on his respiration rate - count it when he sleeps and call them if gets fast. I did that, and over the next few months called their office on 2 different occasions to report respiration that was just over the "fast" side. The person that answered the phone took the information and I was told there was not a concern. I brought my boy back for annual exam. The night before he had a bad coughing fit. I was told they did an x-ray and that his heart was enlarged and he was in hear failure. I was there over an hour waiting and knew something was wrong. I was sent to Blue Pearl in Southfield - told they had vet cardiologists there. (NEVER go to Blue Pearl - terrible!) Discovered the next day that Veterinary Cardiology Consultants had an office only a few miles north of Troy Vet Hospital! At Blue Pearl they diagnosed my boy with congestive heart failure / hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). This was approx. $3,500 visit - after spending about $700 at Troy Animal Hospital. I followed-up with Vet Cardiologist Consultant's for my cat's care. In the following 11 months I've spent another $2,000 - $3,000 on consultations, echocardiograms, fluid aspiration, monthly medications, supplements, holistic care. My boy was in advanced heart failure and died two days ago. I've learned along the way that in that initial annual check-up at Troy Animal Hospital in November 2017 that the heart murmur and gravely sounds detected in his lungs were early & strong indicators of cardio myopathy developing. I wasn't even offered the option of additional diagnostic testing - I would have done it! Instead told she "didn't think it was necessary at this time." If testing had been done and treatment started then he could have lived a long and healthy life with condition management. Instead, his quality of life deteriorated fast - he died at only 8 y/o - and it cost me approx. $7,000 in that 11 months along with so much stress, sadness and grief. My heart is broken. My boy was one of those special cats - the kind even people who hate cats love. He deserved better. I understand mistakes are made in life but this was inexcusable. I called twice to report fast breathing afterwards and they weren't concerned!! Is this a matter of being too busy to give proper attention? Why not suggest testing to rule out a potentially deadly condition developing? I wish I had never stopped going to my previous vet who specialized in cats. My boy would be alive.

I have a 12 yo husky who Is starting to have hip problems. She loves people, is gentle with children. And has a sweet disposition. Dr y and her assistant could not provide services because my dog was anxious around them. Even with trazodone and a muzzle they couldn't draw blood The first visit I got flea treatment for both pets. For my husky I got ear medication, cleaner, 30 trazodone, 10 primary for about $800. Second visit I had to sedate my dog. When the team arrived i had to muzzle her. The assistant tried to pick her up and then laid on her Dr y was not able to draw blood. This cost $178 even though no services were rendered. Dr y told me we aren't a good match. We need a clinic where our dog can be rendered unconscious. I agree with this. I was surprised to learn what a pet friendly visit means. Your pet must be docile or they leave . I believe the 5 minutes it took to scare my sweet husky was the most profitable. Well look for a local independent vet. As a follow up, the local vet we took our pup too is also fear free. Their version was to spend time building trust. Not the 'drug em, muzzle em and we'll try to do our work quickly' we experienced with Dr y and assistant. Frankly if I was drugged, muzzled, picked up and leaned on I'd growl too

The doctor who killed my cat is Dr. Varujan Arman. We came in for a simple blood test. My cat was walking around in the exam room happy jumping up and down the table and full of life. The veterinary technician Patrice Reed came in the room before the doctor to take down information. She was unprofessional and rude the whole time and not listening to what we were saying. Technician Patrice Reed and Dr. Varujan Arman are responsible for my cats death. I trusted them. We wanted to do a blood test but the doctor kept insisting we do an x-ray. We listened to him because x-ray don't kill animals, it turns out he squeezed the life out of my cat to empty his stomach so he can see the x-ray clear. All he was supposed to do was an x-ray not squeeze out fluid from his body. We did not agree to anything else. Dr. Varujan Arman ended up removing too much fluid from my cat (which will cause the cat to go into shock) and squeezing the life out of my cat so he can see the x-ray clear. (google: "vet squeeze cat to death") it is possible to kill a cat that way. He damaged my cat's internal organs by squeezing him to hard. Dr. Varujan Arman is a large man who overpowered an innocent cat. They brought my cat back to me dying struggling to breath and he was full of feces and vomit from the ruptured organs. He ended up dying in the clinic. When I asked the doctor what happened, what did you do to my cat? He ended up yelling at me at the top of his lungs and kicked me out. He killed my cat and ended up yelling at me for asking what he did. My cat did not come in dying, he was alert and active. They took him to the back and killed him. Dr. Varujan Arman does not know what he is doing. Please do not take your pets to this clinic. They employee killers. When we got the discharge notes Dr. Varujan Arman lied on the paper work and the clinic supported him. Everything he said on the discharge was a lie which is insult to injury. On top of that the next day after they killed my cat they harassed me and sent me an email telling my cat "Happy Birthday". They know my cat died and were making fun of me by telling my cat happy birthday which does not make sense because that day is not my cat's birthday and this is my first time at this clinic. I am heart broken and I don't know how to move on. I feel guilty for taking my cat to this vet. I did not know it would be his last day alive. I keep wishing I did not take him here. I did not know a simple exam would kill him. He is only 4 years old. I have not been able to sleep, eat, or focus. I have to keep taking off work because I cannot concentrate. I am a teacher and it wouldn't be fair for my students. I don't feel like doing anything anymore. I am crying every couple hours. I am heartbroken.
