Here at Lake Shorr for friends birthday party! I like this place for friends gathering. Always best when weather is nice.

    Outside seating area.

This winery is open late enough to catch an awesome sunset over the lake! Note, this is a small winery. You aren't coming for fancy, if that's your look, move on. Families on the deck were playing a board game, we got a great pizza and sat around a nice fire. We tried a handful of wines and really appreciated the suggestions and kindness shown by the staff. Try the Brianne if you like a lightly sweet white try the Chambourcin if you like a red Zin. Norton fan, the Cynthiana.

We stopped by another winery which was crowded and no where to sit. On the way home we discovered Shorr. Wine tasting is unlimited and wines are very good. Atmosphere is beautiful and clientele are laidback and great to be around. Bonus today - live music 4-close! Food choices are very limited but you can bring your own favorite wine snacks. Extremely pleasant Sunday afternoon!

I got to sample their wines, I liked their Niagara Mascoutah the best. Good customer service and a nice fire pit outside to keep you warm.

I love wineries off the beaten path and this is one of them! On Easter, we decided to take a wine trip. It was gorgeous weather for it! But we are adventurous people and didn't want to go to the usual like Augusta, Hermann and St. Genevieve. ( Although those are great wineries.) We wanted to go somewhere different. So we decided to go East, Metro East that is. I found a small, family-own winery in Waterloo, Il called Schorr Lake Winery. It is situated right next to a lake which gives a great view. When we walked down the pathway, we were greeted warmly by one of the owners. Talk about making you feel at home! You get 5 complimentary tastings and any more is just a dollar more. We decided on a Vidal Blanc which is smooth and crisp, but not too dry. We can bring our own food, which is a definite plus! And you know, after a few bottles of wine, people get real friendly. The little store where you get your wine is quaint and cute. You can dine inside or out. They even had an Easter Egg hunt with Adult prizes! It was fun, although I missed the golden egg. Come check out this lovely location, right off Route 3 in Waterloo!

Seriously, this is probably the best Chambourcin I've ever had and one of the best Norton's (Cynthiana) that I've had.

The toasted ravioli were the worst of my life which is so confusing like how is it possible to make fried food taste bad? I've had better from the freezer isle. My sister ordered the Mediterranean flatbread and it was weird. Didn't seem to truly be Mediterranean inspired and everyone who tried it disliked it. This place used to be packed and it was mostly empty. The strawberry sangria was SO watered down. I had 3 and didn't feel like I consumed any alcohol & certainly couldn't taste any. It was like watered down strawberry juice. The employees were nice, but they don't check on you at the table. You have to bring your cups and dishes back to the bar when you're done. I just don't know if this place will survive if they don't make some huge changes. My family and I used to love coming here, but the ambiance, food and drink offerings, and service is poor. Breaks my heart to see this place go downhill.

I can't begin to explain what a great spot this is!…read more It is dog friendly, it is wide open and beautiful, it has lots of live music, it is run by a family that is so very nice, and it is super affordable and tastes great! You can get a flight of wines for $5 or a glass of wine or a pint of beer for $5 each. You can even do a tour and tasting for $10. Plus, all the bottles are pretty much under $25. And they have quite a large variety of whites, reds, and roses too. Cindy, one of the owners, is so very friendly and helpful. She will go through an entire tasting with you with the highest level of patience, allowing you to taste and try anything you'd like to. Her brother-in-law also Is a gem, he himself Popsicles to all of the kids running around and let them ride on the tractor or explore into the garden. Would highly recommend if you are in the area!

Arthur was the live music for the day and he played a great variety of songs (acoustic guitar). The wine is fantastic. I do not know a lot about wine, but I do know that each one we tasted (6) was very easy to drink. We shared a bottle there and I brought 2 home. Bonus: you can bring your own snacks (no beverages). I love this. I enjoy planning my own winery snacks. I was bummed when many wineries quit allowing food because they opened kitchens. So if I have to pay $30+ for food. I'm buying less wine.
