I love the scenery! What a wonderful escape From the City. The sangria was pretty good and I liked a few of their red wines. Nothing too crazy and they had a band outside and it was a blast. Great place! This place is happening and has a great staff and is equipped for handling a large crowd. Great wine tastings and some decent tasting wines too. We purchased a couple bottles for home. Wife had the blackberry cider beer and bought some of that too. She really enjoyed that cider and the band helped turn the atmosphere for me from fun to great fun. Plenty of room both indoor and outdoors and good for couples or groups. This is a fun place! Definitely put Crown Valley on your Missouri Wine Tour when in the area. read more

I give Crown Valley a solid 5 because it truly is one of the nicer wineries I have frequented. The outside is very spacious and the views are absolutely wonderful. I have never spent an afternoon outside of this winery and not found myself wanting to stay from open to close. There is usually always some entertainment. I've been there to see a complete band and I've been there to see a solo act. Now for the wine. Crown has a very good variety of wine. Their blackberry wine is sweet, the Vignoles is excellent and the Norton is a great red. The tasting bar is very spacious and for $7.50 you get five sample pours which are more than the standard one ounce servings you get from most wineries. The pretzels are tasty and the service is way above average. Definitely recommend a trip to Crown Valley. Here again in July 2020. Place is still one of the best winery's to visit. Still 5 star and still great place to get your wine on. read more

To crowded. Nowhere to sit. Granted, this is one of the most popular wineries in the St. Genevieve area. They charge you $7 for 5 games of wine (you get to keep the little glass). They were so busy they had only 1 girl pouring samples and the wait was ridiculous. Most of the wines I sampled I was not a fan. So we did not purchase any. The band was good but it was loud (music & people) you just couldn't relax. No outside food is allowed (as posted) but we seen alot of coolers and outside food. So if you are not going to enforce the rules then why post them???? As you can tell we didnt stay and moved on. read more

Nice winery and grounds. They have a token tasting system which is probably the best deal monetarily. Wine itself is underwhelming and all very sugary-tasting, but then again I've never had wine from the Midwest that really stood out as amazing so this is probably not that surprising. On a freezing, rainy, dreary fall day, my sister and I decided to trek it out to the wineries in Ste. Gen to warm up with some wine and mostly just to do something different. We tried a few places before settling in at Crown Valley, and I don't know why we just didn't go here first. Parking here is crazy on nice days, but guess what it's like when it's freezing and raining? Preeeeetty empty. It worked out well for us! When you walk in, there are a ton of gifts, lots of bottles of wine, and most importantly, the place where you get your glass for wine tastings. It's $6 per person to get a glass, and that comes with five tastings. If you give the glass back at the end you get a small amount of money back, but I suggest keeping it as a souvenir. It's actually a really nice glass! Once you have your five tokens for the tasting, you make your way back to the main area. There are a ton of wines to choose from, and even though I don't typically love Missouri wines (sorry, I know) I always settle on something that's pretty good. Their cabernet is what I chose this past trip. The woman doing the tastings the day we were there was so excellent and friendly. I'll catch her name next time! They have hot food choices but my sister and I just grabbed some cheese and crackers from the deli area. Enjoy the live music while you finish off your bottle! Bonus: they were doing buy one, get one free bottles of wine during our trip! We didn't go that route, but it's cool for someone who wants to snag an extra bottle to take home. Extra bonus: they sell cone chips. Not sure what those are? Picture little miniature waffle cones dipped in chocolate and nuts. You're going to need a bag of them for the ride home. When it comes to the Ste Genevieve region this is certainly the big dog. It has more of a commercial vibe but that is not a complaint. It's $6 for a tasting of 5 wines but each "sample" is 2oz so it's quite generous plus you can get $2 back if you return the glass. The interior is mostly one large room that houses the wine tanks with a walkway over to the tasting bar. The server on our Sunday afternoon visit was very kind and did a great job of directing us towards wines we would like. They also offer three different kinds of sangria, yum! There's seating inside by the bar but also plenty of seating on the back porch which is the entire span of the building and offers gorgeous views. By the tasting bar are typical meats and cheeses for sale but there is also a cafe with hot food and sandwiches, nothing fancy but good none the less. Since this particular visit was on a Sunday we were able to relax and enjoy the views before moving on but I have also been when they are offering tours, which is fun if you are interested in the nerdy aspects of how your wine is made or just want some cool photo ops. read more

Crown Valley Winery has emerged as a popular destination winery and has the largest vineyard in Missouri. They have a breathtaking view, award-winning wines, a unique assortment of Missouri-made products and regular events including live music concerts in the music pavilion and on the lawn. I'm not a big fan of Missouri wines, but Crown Valley has a decent selection of standard reds & whites. You can purchase cheese & sausage platters from their bistro or bring your own picnic and hang out on the lawn. There are loads of quaint little wineries throughout Missouri and the metro east, but Crown Valley has become my favorite local "entertainment winery" and it is more affordable than their counterparts in Hermann and Augusta. We came here as part of a wine tour of St. Genevieve - and this was by far one of our favorite wineries! Just a heads up, we came in overcast, drizzly weather, so I'm sure this winery would have been a thousand times better on a sunny day. However, all in all, this was a great stop! The parking wasn't too bad. I guess all the rain emptied out quite a bit of the free spots. Yet, it's a bit off road and uphill so I can see how it might be a bit tough to get to if you have a smaller car. We ended up doing a wine tasting amongst our group. Basically for about $6 you can get five tastings and a wine glass. Our server was extremely sweet and gave us an extra sample for free. The pours are pretty heavy handed I would say (each one was about 2 oz, so it was almost like drinking 2 glasses of wine). Definitely worth the $6 and easy to split with a friend if you can't finish it all by yourself. I can't remember all the ones we tried, but my favorite by far was the Norton followed by the Chambourcin. But, I tend to like dry, spicy reds. My friend loves sweeter wines and was a huge fan of the Traminette. All in all, great choices and I really hope I can come back here soon. This place is fine. Beautiful setting and the food was top notch (bison burger was fantastic). My reasoning for only 3 stars is that this place owns a winery, brewery and distillery yet you can ONLY get wine at the winery. I've never been to a winery where wine was the only drink option. I asked if we could drive down to the brewery and get some beer to bring back in and was told "No, that is not how this is set up." What does that even mean?? Then she said "You can go down to the brewery, there is beer and wine down there." What?!? I also thought that the people at the tasting stand who told me that were a little snippy and rude. I'm guessing this is because they've been asked this question several times and are sick of telling people "no." I'm sure it sounds like I'm complaining about something silly (if you don't like the wine, don't go to a winery - duh!) but I was there because it was a pretty day and a great band was playing so we drove down to check the place out. It seems to me that enough women would drag their husbands / boyfriends down there for a fun afternoon and they would probably make a lot of money off of beer sales to make it worth their while....especially since they own a brewery! Will not be returning. Rude employee. A group visited and some of us chose to walk down to their lawn to look out on the vines. When leaning against fence an employee came up and scolded us saying we couldn't be on that side of fence. We moved to the other side of the fence and she scolded us again, something along the lines of "Wow, asshole, what's wrong with you, why are you like this?". She then said she was done with us and we had to leave and said the lawn is now closed. Uh what, there's people all around us? When we stood on the stair platform to look out she kept scolding us like we were her 5 year old children. Then she walked up to another employee and was complaining about us to them for about 5 minutes. Completely unacceptable. There was a wedding party there so if we were in their way/photos or something she could have notified us nicely and we would have happily moved (though they were far away). Happily took our group's business to The Cave Vineyard where everyone was respectful! read more

My most favorite Missouri winery! Absolutely gorgeous view with plenty of space and seating. While it can get a little crazy on the weekends with live bands and lots of drunk wine-o's, this winery is still perfect for anyone. They have a deck off the back that is a bit away from the pavillion where all the craziness takes place, which is nicer for those who wish for a more quiet or romantic experience. Their prices are reasonable and all the wines I have tasted are wonderful! They have some food items available for purchase if you forget your picnic baskets full of goodies. They even throw their wine glass in for free. I hosted my friends bachelorette party here and I called in advance and they gave us all coupons for discounts on wine. Boy did we have a great time hanging with the band and dancing the day away. I am sure I will be seeing myself here again ASAP! P.S. They have several little houses for rent that are very close to the winery for those who have a group and no DD. They also opened a brewery nearby that has lots of tasty handcrafted beers! read more

I wanted to like this place, I expected to like this place, but for me it just kind of fell flat. They offered a wide variety of wines and I figured I would find something that I liked...well I didn't. To start off the place is quite big and it is much more commercialized than some of the other wineries in the area. That is not really a bad thing, but when I go wine tasting I expect more of a laid back, relaxing experience instead of feeling like I'm fighting my way to the bar at a busy night club. That's exactly how I felt while at Crown Valley Winery. They did have a premium tasting menu that offered several reserve and select wines but we decided to just go the normal route and go from there. With that we tried 6 wines and were underwhelmed by just about everything, we surely didn't find anything that we wanted to buy a bottle of and share. I'm not ready to completely write them off, but I will think twice about stopping in next time we are down to taste wine. read more

I've never been treated so bad by a company. I booked an overnight room, and was charged immediately. I called 5 days ahead of my overnight stay, and confirmed we were good on my room. When I showed up to check in, they decided NOT to open that day, even though I already paid for my room. They did not bother to call or email me not to come. I had a three hour round trip drive, for nothing. When my husband called after the weekend to get some type of resolution/explanation, they had no explanation, and didn't care about the way we were treated. I recently toured the property, and was very impressed. The new winemaker, Al, is making some great wine. It's a shame that they won't be available to the public until next year! Went to Crown Valley Winery for the first time during the first weekend of April. Wasn't impressed at all. The wine was alright but staff was rude and non-polite. More or less only wanting your service. No customer relationship building whatsoever. As we walked in, instead of being politely greeted, the lady serving the front bar offered us a list of non-chilled wines and peeked in my bag and noticed we had brought snacks. She urgently warned us we couldn't eat our snacks there. We had just visited their Tiger Sanctuary prior and were starving. If we had known ahead of time they weren't allowed, we wouldn't have brought them in the first place as its not mentioned ANYWHERE on their website. This turned us off so we dismissed ourselves from the bartender and went to the other bar near the patio which offered us better options to our preferences. We got a couple bottles, went outside and enjoyed our snacks discreetly. Very unwelcoming, and staff could use some hospitality training. I will say the view from the large balcony is nice but there are many similar wineries in MO that offer the same services and provide a more comfortable environment. I will not be visiting again. We visited Cave Winery earlier that day and though it wasn't as large and scenic, the staff there were a lot more friendly and eager to help their customers. read more

I have no problem with the Winery, some of the wines are OK, not the greatest, but that is here nor there. I have a bit of a problem paying $160 a night at the bed & breakfast, that looks like a halfway house. The room has one window, tile floors that are an ugly white and a queen size bed with a polyester blend -1000 thread count comforter. I have stayed in Super 8 motels that are nicer and they offer a HOT continental breakfast. Not to mention staying at the Moonshine Inn or the Brewhouse is like a college dorm with shared bathrooms, located outside your room. I hear that some of there rooms offer breakfast at their upscale restaurant, but the Moonshine and the Brewhouse have pastries from Walmart and orange juice. Not the ideal breakfast after a day at the wineries in the area, or the breweries. In the end going to the winery for the day is a good idea, but the Moonshine Inn and the Brew-house are not worth the money. SO if your planning a trip to the winery, stay in Ste. Genevieve or in Farmington at the local Holiday Inn, and have a DD take you to the nicer rooms. I hear Farmington has a local DD program too! The B & B's are not worth the money! Just go for the day, is my advice. read more

Our second stop on our daycation was at Crown Valley, not as rustic as Chaumette, and without the great food that Chaumette offers (if they offer a sit-down meal, I didn't see it. There was a deli, but many of the sandwich items had been picked through.) But the wine variety here is much more extensive. You can get a five-choice $5 or $10 tasting and keep the wine glass. My favorites were the Meritage and the Norton. Many of the whites were so sugared I could barely keep them down. If you are a fan of sweet whites, you'll have many choices. The wine stewards were knowledgeable and friendly...with the larger selection here, have them help you make your picks. read more

I've only visited two wineries in Missouri (Crown and Cave) so I'll have to compare my experience with other wineries in Canada, California, and Connecticut which I think is fair since I'm not a wine coinnoseur so it's more about the ambience than the wine itself, for me. We took the tour of Crown Valley and were impressed by the expansive operation at one of Missouri's largest wineries. The tour guide was new so she didn't have extensive knowledge of the winery but it was still worth a couple bucks to see the behind-the-scenes action. We also did a wine tasting. For $6, we got five tastes and the glass. Crown Valley is known for its generous tasting portions so $6 is quite a good price. Come to think of it, we got five tastes plus a complimentary taste of their wine of the month which was actually one of their ports. We enjoyed leisurely sampling our tastings, wandering around the deck and seating areas, trying some of the food for sale in their deli. As someone mentioned previously, as of 1/11, you cannot bring outside food or drink. You can buy food at their deli and at an outdoor grill just next to the tasting room. I think they were understaffed for the volume of people they attract which has a few challenges: 1. Longer waits to receive your next tasting 2. Less time to ask the person behind the counter about the wine 3. Crowded tasting area While Crown Valley makes all the wines on their tasting menu, they import many of the red grapes from CA. They are the largest producer of Norton grapes in MO so that's a nice one to taste. I also enjoyed their Cardonel. They produce fruit wines which are fun to try for a change. I preferred the blackberry fruit wine to the peach since it was slightly less sweet. As our Innkeeper from the night before noted, Crown Valley is more touristy because they're larger and have a larger marketing budget. That means they also get more crowded. I preferred the earlier part of our visit to Crown Valley before the crowds arrived. read more

We used to go to Crown a lot. It is the most commercialized of all the wineries in the area, but we enjoyed it because you were allowed to bring your own picnic foods. Unfortunately they no longer allow you to bring your own food as of 2011. Luckily there are many other wineries in the area, who also have great wines and much more friendly service. read more

My friends and I stayed at the Coffman house for a girl's weekend. The service when I checked in was great and very friendly. The Royal Nectar sangria was fabulous! However, we found numerous live spiders in the rooms, beds, and bathroom. Also, there were spiders on the door and in the bushes outside the door. I would like to give a better review, but the spiders were rather disconcerting. I don't know if I would stay here again for that reason. read more

I did my best to not have expectations, I promise I did. We had just come from The Cave Vineyard where I was pleasantly surprised by the decent wine. Not so here. There is a huge selection of whites, reds, fruit wines and dessert wines. Just nothing I liked. A lot of very sweet wines (the peach is very kool-aid ish) and young bitter reds. The patio was nice and there are lots of picnic areas around but it was crowded, it was loud and it felt more like getting a drink at a frat party than a wine tasting counter. We waited for a spot at the bar, then told to go back out and pay for the tasting, then back to fight for a spot at the bar again. It looked like a nice place with a deli and pretty scenery just not worth the battle in my opinion. read more

Absolutely gorgeous! Getting here was a bit of a challenge with the country long curvy roads, but it was well worth it. Once I stepped out of my car in their parking lot, I felt an immense feeling of peace. Just pure quiet with the exception of birds. The grapevines are immense! They sell bison here. Ground bison is cheap here compared to the city. A 2 lb brick will set you back about $10.99. All of their bison products are frozen. They have bison chili, bison bacon (mixed with beef), bison sausages & bison cuts. I'm not tooo keen on the bison bacon (I still like my bacon made with pork). This is a place worth going for peace & quiet after having a crazy week. read more

My wife and I along with three other couples stayed at Crown Valley Winery in the Brewery House. We had the entire second floor and enjoyed our stay. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean! My wife lost a diamond ear post when we left. The house cleaning staff found it and returned it to the administration office. I was amazed at the integrity displayed and professional conduct by the house cleaning staff. The diamond posts were very expensive. Thank you! Over the past 15 years, southeast Missouri has experienced a growth of wineries popping up almost everywhere. Out of the few that I've been to, Crown Valley Winery is by far the best one. The building is very beautiful inside and out. In the front of the building is the gift shop where you can also purchase your tastings and tours. From here you walk through a set of doors and over a walkway that carries you over the metal vats as you head towards the tasting area in the rear of the building. The price for the regular tasting is $6 for 5 tokens, but you get a free tasting of the "wine of the month" so it works out to $1 per taste. You can choose from a wide assortment of wines to taste. I don't drink white wines so I can't comment on those, but all of the reds I've tasted were very good (particularly their Norton and Petite Syrah). Their blackberry wine is also very good although it might be a bit too sweet for some people who are used to dry wines. The tasting area is also very eye-pleasing and there is an outdoor patio which provides a beautful view of the vineyards and is great for enjoying your wine on a sunny day. I've been here several times over the years and each time the customer service was great. They also occasionally have specials on wine for purchasing. Crown Valley Winery is definitely worth stopping for on a lazy afternoon. Also be sure to check out their brewery which is just two miles west of the winery on Highway F. read more

I just opened my bottle of 2004 Fine Old Vintage. (It has been difficult to keep in the wine rack!) I am happy to report that it has aged perfectly. It is rich, smooth and soft on the palate. This is one of the best bottles I have ever tasted. Congratulations on a wonderful job. read more

First and foremost, this is a beautiful location. The view and overall atmosphere alone are enough to make me want to return. There is a nice variety of wine and the prices are decent: $6 will get you a complimentary wine glass along with 5 tasting tokens. There are also two seasonal sangrias available. The patio is large and perfect for accommodating large groups. My only complaint is that there were absolutely no alternative options for the non-wine drinkers in our group. Yes, yes, I know - we're at a winery! But in a large group, there are bound to be at least a couple of die hard beer drinkers and it's really off-putting to them when there are no other alcohol options. In fact, while I would have gladly spent my entire afternoon at Crown Valley enjoying the great food and beautiful view, we ended up going to different winery down the road that also served beer in order accommodate everyone in the group. read more

i have been there many times. they had buffalo burgers and they grow the buffalo there on the grounds. they have music and dancing. the only thing i did not like about it was the crooked road you had to take to get there. you can also buy the ground buffalo and bring it home and make your own burgers. read more

The meal was disappointing in that the beef was so tough you couldn't cut it with a knife And the lodging was dirty. It was not a place to plan a medium or large wedding. They did not have a backup plan for the wedding party in case of bad weather! This place is the big dog in town; the Wine Disneyland of Ste. Genevieve. The facility here is quite large and a spectacle that one must see. You can see the wine-making operation as you walk to their serving area, and it is quite awesome to view. They have a wide array of wines to try, and allow you to try a small sampling of wine combined with others that they recommend as good matches (they were in each instance. We both tried each-others samplings, so we had quite a myriad of wine samplings from this place. Their pours are quite generous too for the samplings. The views at this facility were also fantastic, and they have their own deli and café as well, so those were excellent touches as well. Their prices are also very reasonable across the board. We just left, about 20 minutes or so ago. We are very disappointed in the people "employed" there. It's definitely NOT for everyone! They are harboring prehistoric attitudes. I say that because I'm not sure if its race (though i was the only person of color) or if its the interracial thing but it is very clear one of them played a part... Wine "servers" walked right past us multiple times though they helped those around us. I even flagged one to ask her if someone was going to help us. She did give me a list of wines but NEVER helped. She said she had help coming implying that we would be helped. Guess I took that one WRONG because the person that came out definitely wasn't there to help us. We got a refund on our tasting and asked to see the manager. Mandy the "manager" came out and was so apologetic (NOT! ). I'm sure it will NOT be addressed. NEVER again will I visit Crown Valley Winery!!!!! Who ever owns it should take an inventory of attitudes. Customer service should apply to EVERYONE$!!! These people know their stuff! Our server made excellent recommendations for our samples (5 tokens each with a plastic wine cup). You could tell he enjoyed his job, enjoyed people, and he really was knowledgeable about what he was pouring without being arrogant. We had a great time, found some new favorites, & made quite a few purchases before heading back. Was a great experience & our group will definitely be back. Our fave was the bourbon barrel aged Norton. Oh, we also scored the last bottle of Cafe Rumba that was in stock.
