With the distance and the variability in quality between instruments, I wasn't sure how I could realistically try multiple pianos without driving all over Southern California. Fortunately, Kim's Piano made the process incredibly easy. They have a huge inventory of Yamaha pianos, and I worked with Steve Rivera, who was responsive, knowledgeable, and very fair throughout. He helped me narrow down several strong options over email before I made the trip to their Stanton warehouse. When I finally went in, I brought along a piano technician to evaluate the instrument I selected. He was also impressed with both the quality of the piano and the breadth of their inventory. I ended up purchasing a 1971 Yamaha U3 that plays and looks like new. I couldn't be happier with the quality, value, and overall experience. Steve was patient and helpful every step of the way. I highly recommend Kim's Piano to anyone looking for a high-quality instrument at a fair price, backed by excellent service.

A hidden place for Piano enthusiasts. Located next to Sam's Club & a wash. This is a family owned…read more& ran for several generations of the Tudor Family. John Tudor gave us a tour of the place along with information & history on pianos. John's father learned his trade in Germany back in the days & passed on the knowledge & craftsmanship to the next generation. There are hundreds of pianos in this warehouse. Some are being restored & Some are being repaired. According to John. Most pianos nowadays are mass produced, & are made with a foam like material to cut cost down & weight. There's only 1 company left that makes pianos by hand & made with hard wood. Only 300 are produced yearly. John explains the difference in upright & Grand pianos. Within the upright, there's 3 different sizes. Upright pianos usually has 2 pedals. You may find some with 3 but it is not a Sostenuto pedal. It is a mute pedal. Sostenuto pedal is only found on Grand pianos. Steinway & Sons perfected this & patent it in 1847. It became a standard but is rarely used. There's only I piece (music) that has the usage of the Sostenuto pedal in play. The Grand Piano has several sizes & names. Baby Grand to Concert Grand! (Largest size, 9 ft long) Very informative tour. If you're looking to purchase a piano & would like a little bit of history & information on where to start in choosing the right piano for you or whom ever, give this place a try. They have "technicians" who could also tune your piano if you already own one.

There's a bit of bias here because Ivan Tudor and his crew happen to be my buddies-of-sorts…read more I'm not sure how useful this review would be aside from serving as a "shout-out" to let you Yelpers know about the existence of this place! Why? Because I'm not a fan of the piano as we know it today. This is Tudor's specialty--the repair, restoration, and sale of fine modern pianos (modern meaning post-1850 or so). He's won numerous awards for his work and has even repaired pianos owned by some very notable people. But anyway, let me tell you a little about why I like them so much. I repair harpsichords and early pianos as a hobby. Aside from his showroom, Ivan Tudor keeps a HUGE warehouse full of pianos from all periods in various stages of repair and disrepair. They're sort of my "piano junkyard" when I need a part for one of my projects. Several years ago, I bought every single harpsichord and fortepiano they had--totaling about seven or eight instruments in all. Evidently a few of them were movie props in the 1940s and 1950s because they had small metal plates on their undersides indicating they were the property of Warner Brothers. How cool is that? I actually found one of them--a piano from 1815--in a picture book of old pianos published in 1953 indicating the photo was furnished by the studio! Their on-site piano tuner and regulator, Vivian, does a very fine job and will come out to tune your piano for what I believe is a standard rate of $85. Voicing and other piano services are by quote. But yeah, the folks here are übercool and while I haven't made use of their restoration services or bought a high-end piano from them, I'd imagine that since this is their bread-and-butter business, they'd be just as accommodating in that regard as they are with my offbeat inquiries about obsolete instruments!

It's not fair that those who choose to walk or catch the bus have to walk all the way around building but drivers don't. Dont you think its unfair, that the store front is more accessible to the privileged folk who can afford a car vs those who catch bus or walk? My concerns were dismissed and he clearly didn't take me seriously. It's a shame that this is the culture of the business.
