We had to stop after eating at the neighboring restaurant. We did not realize they served food but were very excited for the hand dipped homemade milk shakes. So so good. We all got something different and no one was disappointed. My daughter even got a cherry coke, no not the bottles kind, they actually put cherry syrup in her fountain coke. After waiting 45 minutes and hearing the printer did not print orders and people were not going to get food soon. We asked for a refund and they apologized and gave it to us. Tons of yummy food options and creative fancy shakes with all the toppings. We stick to the classics but they are done so well. The "chrome" cheese lace on their signature Schultze's burger is next level and original. I've never seen that anywhere else! They will seat you at a table with menus but you'll order at the far right of the counter. Everything is clean and stocked. Bathroom is clean. Tons of street parking around that area. Nice little place located where A Couple of Jerks Soda Fountain used to be. Plenty of ice cream flavors, sundaes, shakes and soda. Very kid-friendly with lots of fun items for them. My daughter said "I want to come back here again". If something isn't on the menu, they'll do what they can. Shakes are whatever ice cream flavors they have and they didn't have banana ice cream, but they made my husband a banana milkshake with fresh bananas. They also have food such as hot dogs, burgers, fries, and macaroni salad - all excellent. One unusual thing is that the chili for the burgers and dogs has cinnamon in it. We went to the Farmers market in Perry and caught a glimpse of this place as we parked. I thought that we would come back to have a nice treat. It was a Saturday at about 1120 when we came in. This place looks as nice on the outside as it does on the inside. It has a lot of potential, but... I'll get to the things that can be improved. The first thing was the layout of the location. It is themed like a 50s dinner with a juke box and a bar/counter. As I entered, I was not sure what was going on because allot of people were standing near the counter. Well, as it turns out someone gives you a menu, once you decide on a seat then you have to take your entire order for your party and relay it to the person at the counter who will also be your cashier. I waited a few minutes while others ordered and then placed my order. I don't eat beef or pork so, my options were limited. The only other option was a grilled cheese or a chicken tender basket. I decided that I would order the chicken strip basket while my family enjoyed their burgers. When the food came, names were called out and the waitress came to deliver the food. My family's food came as I sat there with my soda. I was told that my food was on the way, I was offered a basket which actually belonged to someone else, but that error was corrected before I was handed the basket. I waited and waited. It took 30minutes to get 3 chicken tenders. They were flavorful and piping hot, but it was very annoying to have to sit there with no food as my family ate and then have them sit there while I ate and they had empty plates. I understand that some foods take longer than others to cook however; this was a peak time and a bit of preparation or expectation management could be given to the customer. Had I known that it was going to take this long to get chicken tenders, I would have opted for the grilled cheese sandwich or maybe I would have just ordered a Sunday. All and all, I think that a warning " note: chicken tenders take 30minutes to cook" would have made this experience a better one. Perhaps consider moving the counter to be like Panera where you enter, order at a counter, and then move to an area where you are seated would eliminate confusion, congestion, and the burden of having people sanding around the dining area. Like i said, great potential but needs some tweaks. Or just go there for the ice cream. read more

My husband wasn't impressed at the barely warm fries and bread that he said was hard in places, but I LOVED my burger and the orange cream float. Actually, the float was so delicious that I didn't even feel guilty afterwards. ; ) Service was very good, too. Go try it and judge for yourself. Wow! That's all I can say. I really enjoyed this little diner. The setting was great very old timey I felt like I was in a movie. Lol! The food was amazing they chrome plate their burgers which means they grill cheese onto the top and bottom bun which makes this crispy delicious burger topping. I had the pimiento cheese Schultze burger, which was amazing. It had so much flavor and the beef was high quality. I also order a basket of fries and a classic vanilla milkshake. Everything was of great quality and cooked well. The people who work her are nice people and the manager or owner, not sure which, checked on us several times. Me and my husband can't wait to come out without the kiddies and try some of the hard floats that they offer. I will say next time I'm getting a double burger for a better meat to bun ratio. We are in town for NBHA Youth Worlds at the fairgrounds. When in a new town I like to go to Yelp to find great local owned spots. Well this place exceeded our expectations. We have a group of 16 and the young, AMAZING staff quickly came up with a plan to accommodate us all. The food came quickly and was wonderful! I see how it was voted "best burger"! Great addition to downtown Perry. They have weathered tremendous challenge - Schultze's was scheduled to open the week everything shut down for COVID, but they have persevered and are putting out a high quality product. We have enjoyed their great shakes and sundaes for a couple of months (buy nine sundaes and get the tenth one free with their Scoop Club!), and finally ordered burgers tonight.
