Updating review read down at bottom: bought sod at scienturfic's shop at Sante Fe and Iowa. needed to patch about a 10'x10' area in my yard. unfortunately I now have a 10x10 area full of crabgrass. looks horrible. I called scientific twice to talk about the issue but each time the woman who answers the phone put me thru to "Ernie" who she said would be the one to talk to. He didn't answer either time so I left a detailed voicemail each time. never got a return call. I'm a small customer but I deserve a call back at least. Pretty poor way to do business. UPDATE: scienturfic reached out after this review and is digging into the issue. At this point I have no reason to think they won't fix it. Will update again once resolved. read more

We were very careful to follow the initial watering instructions which takes about two weeks for the sod to knit, blend, and green up. Now it's the envy of the neighborhood! The sod seems to be settling well and it was in good shape when we picked up. However, their communication is limited and they are not the most helpful. I used the online calculator Scienturfic has for 270 sft and bought 34 rolls per their suggestion. That was 11 rolls too many! Wish I had know that beforehand because you can't return the sod. When I picked up the sod I was pretty much on my own and wasn't given any watering tips or assistance loading my trailer, they just pointed me in the direction of the pallets. Helpful tip: If you buy online to get the 10% discount you have to pick up at one of their sites, not at Home Depot or Lowes. read more

Mark and the crew were great! Started on time, and were very respectful. They did an awesome job with the clean up. I highly recommend.

I used the fescue/bluegrass blend scientufic stuff and found it to be very thinly cut and a lot of root damage. The blend seems to be very fragile and mostly bluegrass and does not do well unless watered everyday,months after being laid. Whatever the blend is it is very sticky and cannot be mowed even remotely damp as it will clog a mower. We paid top dollar to avoid bluegrass and that appears to be what we got, not happy with the results after massive ground prep and tilling. read more

ScienTurfic took care of our lawn problem by installing new sod on the front lawn in expert style. They had a well organized team led by Terry who took the time to explain the details of how to best care for our loan. Once his assistants had put the lawn in he gave us his cell number if we had questions and we did contact him after the job and he graciously came by another time to help coach our watering technique. I had 700 square feet of eco-turf delivered this morning and I was incredibly impressed with the quality of the sod; each piece was thick, the grass was vibrant and out of a palette and a half of sod only one piece was a throwaway because it was thin and torn (I've had as much as a 20% throwaway rate from other sod farms). I was also notified that the delivery might be a bit late but it ended up being right on time and they got the sod as close to the yard as possible. Overall a great experience. read more

It was frustrating trying to work with these guys and at the end of the day they couldn't do the job. On June 7, 2014 I called scienturific sod. I get a call and text message from their salesmen Phil. Due to a scheduling issue couldn't meet me that night to give me an estimate and comes out the next night. He gave me a reason of someone in his family was in the hospital. Okay. He comes out and looks at my lawn. It needs a lot of work. We talk for an hour and says it will be about $3200. The lawn is mostly weeds and needs to be graded which in told they can do. We talk about how dirt needs to be removed as the lawn isn't subgrade and slightly above the driveway and sidewalk. He tells me he will get me a final quote and email it to me the next day. I never received this. I didn't want to do the lawn in June, I just wanted to know what it cost so I could plan accordingly and have it done at the end if august after the summer heat is less. I call him in august and he comes back out. This time he tells me it will be a few hundred dollars more as they need to remove some of the dirt. First off I'm okay with that, it would have been nice to know in June but no reason to get upset at this point. I asked when they can do it, he tells me September 9th. I said okay and asked if he could get me a final quote including how much to remove the dirt. He says he will get back to me. A week later I haven't heard back and call him. He doesn't know but thinks it will be around $5000. I said no way that's not right, he said maybe he wasn't at his computer. He said he would call his boss tom and call me right back. He doesn't call back. A couple days go by and I call him and he apologizes he didn't get back and claims the computer system was down, He still doesn't know what it will cost and I asked when can they do this, he tells me I'm scheduled for September 22nd. I asked what happened to the 9th and he says the keep getting booked out. I get no answer for why I'm pushed back and not others. So I don't hear back as to what it will actually cost to remove the dirt so I call the main office. I leave a not so nice message and get a call back shortly thereafter from tom. We talk a bit and tom says he has no idea why I'm told the 22nd as they aren't booking out that far. At this point I've lost total faith in these people but tom tells me he will talk to Phil and get back to me. Phil calls a little while later and apologizes and says he thought tom already called me as he was in the hospital with kidney stones, seriously how many excuses can one guy have. Anyways he tells me they can't do the job as they can't remove the dirt because they need permits to grade the lawn etc. Why they couldn't tell me that in June when he was literally standing on my lawn looking at it I have no idea. Any business should know what they can and can't do but clearly these guys don't have a clue. He tells me his boss tom came out and looked at the property and determined they can't do it. Maybe tom did but he seemed like he didn't know who I was and what I was talking about on the phone when I spoke to him today. If you came out and can't do the job then call me and tell me. Don't dick me around. So I spend part of the day making calls. I find a guy called the sod guy who will do the sod for almost half the cost for scienturific sod and an excavator who will do it for just a few hundred dollars more then Phil "thought" they could do it for and will remove twice the amount of dirt Phil and I talked about allowing the sod guy to add a nice new layer of topsoil, at this point I really have no idea what scienturific sod was even talking about and how they were going to accomplish the same thing removing very little dirt. instead of paying around $3800-4000 to scienturific sod I am going to pay $2400-$2800 to two independent guys who can actually hold a conversation and more then willing to do the job, both guys spoke very confidently and when discussing my concerns as I thought I understood the difficulties of this project from Phil I was reassured this wasn't a difficult thing to do at all. Next thing I call the city and they don't need a permit to do this. I can rent the equipment myself if wanted and grade the property myself, I won't because I don't know how and don't care to try this on my own. I wish they would have told me in June they don't know how to do this. I get the picture they only want to do quick easy jobs. That's fine if that's how your company makes money, if you can pick and choose great just don't waste time pretending like you can do something you clearly do not know how to handle. These guys are complete idiots. Even if their company doesn't want to grade property why not have a contractor you can come in and do this so your customers can get a new lawn. I would have paid that and you would have had a $3000+ job. It's just poor customer service and managed by a couple ass clown. read more
