We were frequent visitors here (1-2 times weekly) until this summer. I was a little upset when the Dash cafe removed the complimentary cappuccino and hot chocolate quite a while ago, I enjoyed the hot beverages during the cooler months since I am not a coffee drinker. We made weekly visits to the Brew Brothers, which was always good. This past week we dined at The Clubhouse, and it was AWFUL! Worst food ever and overpriced to boot! Cheese on the nachos was not melted and there were about 3 bites of pulled pork on my sandwich, served on a soggy bun. It was terrible and we should have sent our meals back once they arrived, but we were hungry and wanted to watch the horses. Will never eat there again, as I was sick when we got home. Ive been to Scioto Downs numerous times already and I've got to admit that they have a great staff! Everyone from the sweet cleaning gal who watched my machine for me so I could go to the bathroom, to all the servers and slot machine guys. Well, I could go into the restaurant, gift shop & sports bar. All small and set up a bit odd. But let's get to the important stuff...casino games. The machines here are tight. They don't give much back and are not much fun. I've played slots in Vegas and always enjoyed it. If you play long enough they will take your money but there are enough little wins that you're having fun and could actually win a little. Scioto Downs "Racino" doesn't have slots so much as rapid money extractors. There's no fun. Every once in a long while you may get a small win but normally its just lose, lose, lose. I counted 32 straight pulls on one machine without even winning my bet back. They should rename it Wargames Casino because the only winning move is not to play. read more

Lower your expectations if you are a card player because they have none!! That is a big turn off, also the staff was very standoffish to make for a even worse feel. Maybe horse racers and slot players will enjoy but for the real gambler... not so much. read more

Tonight, me and my family had the worst experience while visiting this location. Alexander (the bartender) was extremely rude! I had bought a shot for me and my step father, and left a $2 tip. Came back shortly after for another drink, and Alexander poured me literally half a shot and i was appalled! I looked at a young lady that was next to us at the bar, that had been there laughing beforehand, and said "not to include you in this, but you seen my shot before, aren't I being cheated?" She shook her head yes, and said it's not worth it go to the other bar so that's what I did. And then Alexander then proceeds to say "if you take care of the bartenders, we take care of you". So clearly a $2 tip wasn't okay in his opinion for the drinks prior!?! After going to get another drink from the other bar. My family wanted to go back to the original bar to get a drink. Me myself, I was fine and didn't want to drink anything. Upon our arrival, Alexander pulls the bartender to the side and says everyone besides me can drink.... which is fine, because I didn't plan to. But don't limit me, when I've had two drinks since being here. So i then see the manager in duty, and speak with him for roughly 20 mins. Several times while speaking with the manager, Alexander continues to make smart comments, states that he feels uncomfortable and is going to call security, and I'm not even speaking with him. For a young college educated African American male who works in a Corproate environment where it's our main focus to serve the customer, I am extremely embarrassed to have received this type of treatment. Especially with having been on with my family on a Friday night, just trying to have a good time. Alexander then says to my cousin, "do I need to loose my job tonight". What type of environment is this where employees can make threats to paying customers that have spent over $100+ at the bar and over $400+ collectively at the casino playing games? As me and my family are leaving, I see a lady looking at me (which turned out to be security, and the head of security(a male next to her)), and asked me to come over. So me and my family walk over to her and speak with her and a gentlemen briefly in regards to the issues. 1. No customer should EVER be told "if you take care of the bartenders, we take care of you", as well as told my mother that I didn't tip when buying a drink. Regardless if I tipped $2, or $0, it's the principle of customer service and not telling me that pretty much a tip amount will justify how much more alcohol I will get and then following such, treating me rudely for the rest of the night in front of many other individuals. My second issue #2 all throughout the process of me speaking with the manger, he kept having to tell Alexander to walk away because he felt the need to chime in and defend himself. First saying that I had 3 drinks in 2 hours, then said 2 drinks. Said how my step father had a $45 tab, and didn't tip which wasn't true! Long story short, my family loves to come to the casino! But myself, I will not be returning. If you are an African American man, please beware of environments like this. Because I hate to have felt racially profiled & embarrassed for leaving a $2 tip for 2 shots! As well as my family continue to be talked to in a very rude manner, while other customer are not only around. But also spoke up and told Alexander that he poured me a half a shot to begin with. Good and service has been very good. The atmosphere is not for a special evening,no privacy, it's a very open concept type arrangement. And it's hard to carry on a conversation with out strangers hearing. But the good and drinks are hood. read more

Went to this casino for the first time recently and enjoyed it. They have a variety of old slots which aren't available in Cleveland and some new ones as well. Had a few big hits on the machines and left a winner so that's always a plus. The food at Brew Brothers was also very good. Looking forward to coming back. read more

The games are way tight. Cant wait for the other casino to open. The games seem to be reverse ATMs at this place, Ive been several times and every time its the same.... Ive played slots everywhere and have never seen the games so tight. The staff is rude.. on several occasions I have had bad exp with the staff.. Seems many people I know have had similar exp. I feel bad for the server girls., the machines are so tight they dont get the experience of what its like when customers are having a good night. Yesterday as my son and i were leaving I saw a man and woman come in , heading to the left, he was sooooo dirty . I went back in and told one of the attendants about him, asking her if there was a policy about dress or cleanliness, She said no, . I think he was very unsanitary and could be bringing in bugs. I would hate to have him sit beside me or to even sit in the seat after him , or touch the slot.. i know the Hollywood has a sign posted about attire. With the dirty jacket he had on that could be included in attire. Please give this some thought , cause I love to come there but I will wait a while to see if anything comes of his visit.. read more

I go once a month with the senior center, on senior day (Wednesdays). I win more there than at Hollywood and they give the bused-in seniors $10 credit. The buffet is not as good as Hollywood Casino but we get it for half-price on senior day at $7.50. They recently re-faced the machines to make them more exciting but they greatly increased the Party Poopers on the Block Party machines. I think they will see their activity going way down. Tried Brew Brothers last Saturday evening. Was not impressed with the food and don't plan going back there. read more

My husband and I are frequently at the racino all most on an every other day basis. last week I had won 1900.00 on a slot machine the lady came to pay me acted as though this was an imposition on her part (and I sincerely apologize to her for that) how ever I thought this was part of her job. Anyway I overlooked that but yesterdays experience can never be over looked. My husband who is 80 years old became separated in the casino I looked for him for 3 hours and could not find him normally we will communicate by cell phone but I could not get an answer I became worried and upset to say the least. I can not speak so I got out my note pad and wrote down my problem and asked if he could be paged. The assistance I got was horrible the gentleman at the front entrance greeting people who I am sure has seen me many times before as I am not hard to remember told me we do not page people under any circumstance now I am in tears and while I understand this practice I found that to be the rudest of all answer. He could of said let me see what I can do to help, or at the very least let me get some one that may be able to help YOU how inconsiderate can a person be? I am not sure but now I know you must hire on the basis of being rude to paying customers over the past several years I have had other things happen here which I have overlooked but they all come back to customer service issues. TRAIN your people to be human, kind, considerate, and first of all helpful. I have worked in the hospitality industry for many years this should not be tolerated. read more

I was hugely disappointed. I liked their selection of machines, and they paid off - when I could get them to work. Twice, I had to tag down (Forget turning the Service light on - no one ever comes.) help - as my voucher would not print, as it got stuck once, and then another time mangled. And when we were at the Players Card kiosk - when our cards weren't recognized several people in the very long line told us that we had to keep trying, three or four times. I have never experienced a gaming facility as poorly maintained as this: multiple machines had error message, with the suggestion "Call Attendant". Some machines would not accept vouchers, but they would accept cash. And this is HORRIBLE, because I am a retired systems programmer: At least three machines had errored out while attempting an update, and what you saw on the machine was simply the DOS or Linux operating system command line. I cannot waste my time here again. I was very disappointed. read more

The Grove Buffet, the worse I ever had, was sick for 24 hrs.. Bad Food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I could give this place a 0 I would. Last week my husband and I (who are quite generous to this establishment) were playing, Michael ( an excellent bartender) referred me to see Gail? Gayle? To see if we could get comped food. Gayle? Gail..was the RUDEST person I have ever met. THREW my players card in my face and refused to help me. After asking for a manager NOTHING was resolved. I have NEVER in my life felt so uncomfortable or unappreciated. I told my husband I would NEVER come back. Unfortunately I did. Tonight...SUCKED. First I had a free room voucher (cool) (not cool). Since it was their last room we had to pay. Ok..Discount? No. Ok...deep breath....went to the buffet. Had a 20.00 voucher. Paid 14.99 with 20.00 voucher....walked up to buffet. NOTHING. No salad, no pizza, no soup, no bowl for soup..tried to get refund...nope. left 30 seconds after getting there still hungry, no refund....so unbelievably disappointed with this place. I cant stand to think I spent 30,000.00 here last month. Yes regretfully so. You need to get it together. My husband( who spends more than me) and I will NEVER be back. read more

By far one of the worst buffets I've ever ate in my life! We went at 6pm yesterday and the food was old, nasty, and not much of a selection compared to the Epic Buffet at Hollywood Casino. I put this buffet quality below Golden Corral, Ryans, and Hometown!! I can't believe we even stayed after looking at the buffet and eating our first plate. First and foremost, I've been going to various casinos since premiering in Ohio. Scioto Downs has slowly went down hill in the last year or so... Especially the management and some staff. Your opinion or comments go upon deaf ears and frankly is a waste of your time. There hasn't been a single time that I've gone there that I didn't feel like I was visiting my elderly grandparents nursing home, from the lighting to more importantly the MUSIC and just the overall feel of this establishment. If you're not holding a golden buckeye card, it's probably in your best interest to save your time and go to Hollywood instead. Hollywood definetly has a more youthful and energized vibe, it's brighter and the music is modern and at least from this century. (All of these issues have been brought to Sciotos management on many occasions, and frankly its a last resort to even go there anymore) read more

It is an okay place to go. The food is really bad in the cafe and the buffet so eat before going. Even when it is free it just isn't worth it. It used to be fun but all everyone around you does is complain about how they don't pay anymore so that is a downer. But it is true...you can't win hardly anything. It just takes all of the money. I have been to Scioto Downs several times since it first opened but it has changed quite a bit in the last several months. I have played in the Hi Limits room to the pennies so I have gotten to know many of the employees. The employees for the most part are really nice and helpful. The only employee I have ever encountered that was rude was a host named Dustin. He was rude to myself and I have heard him be rude to other guests. Just not friendly and doesn't go out of his way. Find a different host or employee if you need assistance. So eat before going, don't plan to win and don't speak to a guy named Dustin and you will be good to go. read more

I have been to the Eldorado and enjoy the slots,people,and the employees! The only thing that I didn't like is the Food,now maybe it has changed but when my first time at the Scioto I did try the Food,it was not good and I have not tried it since but I do plan on trying it the next time I do go. I drive a distant to Eldorado as well,and most of the time it is worth it,agree,I don't win all the time,wish i could,lol,but i do enjoy spending time there. The security is very nice and friendly as well. It also has been very clean in the bathrooms and at the slots lately since Eldorado or new management has corrected a lot of the past. read more

Everything I have eaten at Brew Bros. has been excellent. Suggest going early or you'll stand in line. They don't take reservations. Take in the bands on Thursday night--you won't be disappointed! I don't drink beer--I hear it's pretty good--but my mixed drinks were a little weak. read more

I was there today and the Buffet was nasty the food was not hot. Looked as if they were doing a lot of Thanksgiving food.. The only veggie was carrots the mac and cheese like powder the chicken was so hard you couldn't eat . This buffet is the worst when it first opened was good now it is so bad. I showed my player card and was still charged 15.99 not the 13.99 told the cashier and was told that the new price was 15.99 and was on the sign 13.99.. My friend and I went to Scioto Downs a few times last week, (9/1-9/6/14), for the casino and the racing. We went to the air conditioned clubhouse, since the weather was so hot and humid. We wined and dined and had the Srimp Coctail and the Chefs Salad at various times we went. The food was absolutely GREAT !!! The shrimp were very large and delicious with the hot sause and lemon added !!!!! The chefs salad was very good , chilled and plenty of vegtables and very filling !!!! Not to forget the WINE, it was also very tasty !!!! My main reason for this review is to make people aware of the GREAT service that ALL the personel, including the management, seemed to really want to help and please the patrons / consumers at both the restaurant and the casino, To my surprise it seemed to be the total outlook of all the employees !!!! Clean and well kept, but since this is first and foremost a casino, I have to say that it surely seems like they have tightened up the slots since 2015 started. I go regularly and I used to be able to play for much longer. Sometimes I go an entire afternoon without hitting anything but chump change. I don't think I'll be back for a long while unless I hear that things change. I know they need to make their money, but it gets boring just watching your credits fall. read more

My husband, friends and I went to the Easter Buffet and I'm so glad that we had enough points that we did not have to pay for such a bad meal. I had the prime rib and it was very fatty and tasted like it had been smoked. I had the Pot Roast with potatoes, carrots, and celery and nothing was done. I had the cauliflower with cheese sauce and the cauliflower was not cooked and was cold. The mashed potatoes were cold and stiff. The scalloped potatoes had no flavor. attended my first and last concert tonight. Was so looking forward to see Kelly Pickler, but they no screens to broadcast her image. We could not see her from the stands. The band was good but so loud that we could barely make out what Kelly was singing. With todays technology why couldn't a screen be put up.so we could see her. It was a waste of money. read more

I see a lot of reviews about bad food at the Grove buffet. I don't understand it. I go about once a month (on senior Wednesday half price) and have never experienced cold food, bad congealed mess and other things people complain about. I guess some people just feel superior if they can put someone (or some thing) else down. On occasion, some selections are not so good. But for the most part, the food is well prepared, hot and tasty. Their chicken is always good, the broasted, the chicken picatta, marsala, caccitore etc. Their oriental food is prepared right in front of you on gas burners, so is freshly done. I never get oriental food in restaurants, but actually do eat their stuff. The carving station usually has two items, and only occasionally would I have a complaint about either of them. Pizza is so good that I even eat the outer edge of the crust. Most veggies I have tried are good. The mac and cheese is not to my taste, however, too dry, but still cheesy tasting. I don't bother with salads, but the selections there seem adequate to me, and they have shrimp! Desserts include many, many choices including some no-sugar-added cookies and pie. I don't see how I could do better anywhere (Hometown buffet, Golden Corral etc.) for the price. It is definitely better than those. The wait staff is always friendly and usually attentive to keeping coffee refills. The staff also seems to do particularly well at keeping the serving area clean. Everyone seems to have a towel to clean up spills around each food item. they are always putting in replacement food when any item gets close to running out. Honestly, if you were expecting Ruth's Criss Steakhouse quality, then you better go there and spend $140 for two. If you want a great variety in a clean, attentive, well run place, give the Grove a try. My only complaint is that after eating, I seem to lose at the slots more than I win. Of course, maybe I should expect that is why they get me in there with the half price deal. I should be smart and eat without playing slots, but hey, life is short and every once in a while I do come out ahead. read more

for the regulars-I have been coming to Scioto ever since it opened, but something has started me thinking. This week and other weeks) people have received an extra flyer from Scioto...now mind you this is not unusual for the racino to promote, what is unusual; is that I have been talking to the people who get these promotions and it seems they are the only ones getting special offers (free robes, towels, throws, coffee pots etc) At first I rationalized, well this is a random selection and they spend more money, but after digging, I find the same people, it seems, have been getting gifts! Believe me I've spent a lot and never gotten anything except an invitation to spend more money. What's up Scioto? How do you manage to pick the same people every single time? What are your parameters for absolutely 'free' (no drawings, just come in and pick up a gift) promotions? Is it you just target the wealthy and good credited people? If this is the case you are definitely discriminating against everyone else! I am going to continue interviewing players and I hope they all voice their concerns for Scioto's practices by rating and telling you (even if you don't listen). read more

I was sent an e-mail and asked to do a survey about my impressions of Scioto Downs compared to other casinos we play at. We go to Mountaineer Resort several times a year, we try to get to The Meadows two or three times a year, and we have gone to Wheeling Downs for years - even before the hotel was built. I am really impressed with Scioto Downs - I have read all the bad reviews of your food - but we don't come for the food - we come to play the slots. I have been coming to Scioto on a regular basis each Friday to use my free-play, and I usually spend a good deal more than that - I have found several game-challenging slots at Scioto. We will be there again this coming Friday - and next Friday too! You have a very up-scale casino as far as I am concerned. It may be a littler smaller than the others, but as far as being comparable in your slots, you are above their quality. I intend to be at Scioto Downs at least four or five times a month in the future. So glad we discovered you. For a two-hour drive, you are worth the wait! read more
