We popped in here to enjoy a few drinks and play some games. It wasn't overly crowded. Huge beer selection. Staff were friendly and welcoming to us new people. All the games are free except pinball and skee ball. They even gave a Nintendo 64 set up with Mario cart, a sega, and a PlayStation. We ended up playing buck hunter the most. So much fun. Most of the arcade games have a little cup holder mounted on the side also so you can keep your drink close. read more

Brewcadia is yet another barcade in Columbus. It's different since it has food on the menu. There's a good collection of classic games. It also has a big draft list with many local items. They have space for private parties too. It has a few similarities to other barcades. It's like Arcade Super Awesome since you go up stairs. The entrance is the same as Barley's. It has many beers on tap including many local brands. The cocktails are about $8. It may seem kind of expensive but make up for it by playing some free games. There's some long tables if you can't get a seat at the bar. It's best known for the games so let's take a look at those. The best ones include classics like Mortal Kombat. It also doesn't have a huge 1980s theme like some. The atmosphere is modern modern. I have had many fun times at Brewcadia. It's pretty modern and has lots more room inside than other barcades around Columbus. The bar is located near many other good bars so it's convenient to visit some of them. read more

This place is above the Barley Brewing Company. I love any place that combines my childhood memories and drinks. All the games are free except for pinball. They even have childhood favorites like moral kombat! There's plenty of seats both at the bar and away from it. I got the sinistar and it tasted pretty good. Super weird description but it reminded me of the Chinese salted sugar plums, still good though! Overall, I love this place! We got to hang around and catch up with friends all the way until closing and they were pretty nice about asking us to leave. Some places would intimidate people to leave but hey didn't. read more

What a fun little spot! We arrived at 5:00 and planned on hanging out while we waited for family to arrive downstairs. The place is beautiful and clean, arcade games and video games are free and pinball is cheap. They also have a cabinet full of every board game imaginable. Happy hour offers drink discounts and half price pizza. We had plans made for the evening already when we stumbled in here. But, I look forward to returning with friends/family. Had a great experience here! It's on top of barley's and i would consider it a hidden gem. There is 15-20 arcade games free to play, and a couple pay to play games, but my favorite thing is the closet filled with board games! They have a wide selection of beers on draft and many of them are brewed downstairs. The bartender was super friendly and had great suggestions! read more

I really like arcade bars and this is one of my favorites. It's probably the smallest out of 16-Bit, Old North and Level One but I've never had a problem with it feeling too crowded. They also have probably the best selection of beers on tap and with 40 some taps there are a lot to choose from. I did consider knocking them down a star because they don't always have Bourbon Meyer on tap (I decided it would be wrong to penalize Brewcadia for that but that beer is just so good lol.) This is my favorite barcade in Columbus. The amount of arcade games is roughly half of what 16-Bit and Old North Arcade has, but this place has many board games available for rent as well as free skeeball! Additionally, the vibe inside is much more casual compared to 16-bit and I have never seen this place slammed. Lastly, come on Sunday! Local brews, food and video games... What's not to love? This little location is up above the Barley Brewing company, directly across the street from the Convention Center. I was able to visit this eatery because they were the host for the kick off Happy Hour for the Midwestern Haunter's convention. Narrow, there are a few tables, but there are a lot of nostalgic machines, some great pizza and some really awesome beer, wine and liquor. I'd come back in a heartbeat. read more

Stopped in while spending the night downtown. Place sounded fun so we checked it out. We seemed to run into the Christmas party of mid to late 20 year olds. You could tell that the party was towards the end since they were all talking to each other like they were across the room, but actually 2 feet away. The drinks seemed a bit over priced. The laid back vibe of the bar mixed with a decent selection of board games, card games and classic arcade games sets itself up well for those groups who want to hangout and grab drinks in a fresh atmosphere. The music is quiet enough that you can have a conversation without yelling and the House cocktails all have a fun game-related name. Great for: guys nights, laid back double dates, smaller group outings, something different than going to a more drinking-focused bar Areas for improvement: Specialize. Brewcadia does several things well (bar/board games/arcade games) but it's missing that "thing" to set it aside. Over 200 local and national beers on tap? Over 50 board games to choose from? I love Brewcadia still and will continue to come here but they got rid of the skee ball machine :( they now have buck hunter and a beer pong machine game but I guess the skee ball was too noisy?! Every night before bed I pray every night for this free skee ball machine to return. I am mildly obsessed with playing skee ball. Can you tell? Maybe because anyone can be good at it without any special skills and who doesn't love some tipsy competition? Idk Am I a crazy person?! We literally will decide to come to Brewcadia just to play skee ball so yes I'm sad that they had to get rid of the machine and apparently this deserved it's own updated review. I feel like the bartender was trying to tell me there's a chance it will be back, but that's also a good technique to get me to still keep coming here. I was really looking forward to this place after reading some reviews, but it was very disappointing. They don't have a big selection of games to play, so all of them were taken when we arrived. Also, I understand this is a bar, but someone needs to clean the controllers on these games. Most of them were either sticky or greasy. So gross! I will say the draft beer selection is pretty good. My mom rented out Brewcadia for her 60th birthday shin dig and it was pretty great. I love that the arcade games are free! They don't have some of my favorites like pop a shot or big buck hunter, but have a decent selection of games. They even have a sega system hooked up to a tv! I enjoyed skee ball and this weird burger game the most. The beer selection is pretty insane - it looked like they had some 20 taps. They offer up barleys beer but also carry a lot of other local breweries. I'm always getting Bodhi when it's on tap. We had food set out for us; a couple pizzas. I'm not sure if it was because it had been sitting out for a little bit but it wasn't great. It was tough to eat, the cheese didn't want to separate so I really had to gnaw at it. Dude. Skee-Ball. I could actually stop there, because Skee-Ball alone should draw you in here. I had the pleasure of stopping by here out of curiosity about a week in. They have a good selection of games, and a couple multicades to get you your fix on games ranging from the common to the obscure. AND... fold-out cup holders for your pint while you play. Speaking of common to obscure, they have 40 taps here. Several are favorites from Barley's downstairs (haven't had a bad Barley's beer yet) but there is a really good selection. And Skee-Ball. Did I mention that yet? I mean, I imagine you might encounter a line to play... but... kids, it's Skee-Ball. Joy. Bragging rights. Don't overthink it. There's finally a barcade that has it. Came here a long while ago, just getting around to reviewing. Space is upstairs above Barley's. Beware the stair! When I first went, there was a sign that seemed to say you couldn't take beer from downstairs to the upstairs, but prior to this opening, staff at Barley's explained that the owners were the same so not sure why you wouldn't be able to move between bars. According to a certain dating site, I am "less law abiding" so yes, I took my beer upstairs anyway. The games are spread out well and varied, mostly classic in age. Seems to have more seating than the other barcades in town. There was even free pizza on my first visit. I have no clue if that is a regular thing, but it sure would be rad if it were. Games are free to play. Speaking of dating sites, I was at the arcade to celebrate my now ex-girlfriend's graduation. She can go to hell! Maybe she'll leave me a nice compliment for this shout out. I'm a big fan of Brewcadia. I've found myself here a few times since it's been open due to the low key atmosphere. If you're looking to check out a barcade in town but don't want crazy crowds that can pop up at 16 Bit and even Old North Arcade, this is a spot you want to check out. First off, they have a really great draft selection. There's plenty of local brews as well as some obscure craft beers that you wouldn't find at other barcades. You really don't see a draft selection this large at many other bars in general around town, so kudos to them for that. They have pretty much all arcade games with maybe a couple consoles toward the front and a skee ball game in the back. The selection of games isn't quite as large as the other barcades in town, but most of them seem to be working, so that's a plus. They don't really have a whole lot of room to expand, so I'm not sure if they'll be able to add much more, but I'm sure they could just rotate out games. Overall, I really like the environment. The bar itself is pretty large, and they have a TV showing sports rather than some hipster black and white movie BS, so that's always a +1 in my book. If you're looking for a spot in Short North that's not too crazy but still offers a lot of fun, then I'd highly suggest checking out Brewcadia above Barley's. Note: Barley's and Brewcadia share the same entrance. Just take the stairs to the left up to it. read more

Really nice interior and a really cool spot to play games. Obviously, this barcade is going to be compared to 16 Bit. Brewcadia has a much better beer selection, but I think 16 Bit has the better selection of games right now, especially if you like the old school like me. Brewcadia has a couple of multi-game machines but I can see those being very busy and unavailable at peak times. I do like the openness of the bar layout better than 16 Bit. There's also skee ball and pinball in the back. This definitely a cool bar to check out, and I'll be back. read more

This was my first experience at an Arcade bar. I love the concept. I enjoyed this one very much, as it had a nice variety of games from first person shooting, to racing, to the classics. Some were out of order which was a little disappointing but they had so many options it was not a big deal. I like barcades, but they seem to becoming so popular that's it's hard for one to really stick out from the others (i.e., 5-Stars!). Overall, it was a solid spot in the Short North, a decent number of games, but nothing crazy. The service was a bit slow, but friendly nonetheless. Good prices and atmosphere. While I was looking forward to a trip to Brewcadia during the Origins Game Fair, my first visit there had to wait for a week or two, until a friends' bachelor party. As nerdy as I, we figured that he'd be ready to throw down some classic arcade games and some wonderful mixed drinks. I must admit, though, that I was a bit shocked to see Brewcadia so empty on a Saturday night in the Short North. I'm not sure that I expected the place to be packed, but we had no problems playing any of the consoles that we wanted and even had plenty of time to get a table and throw down a round of Lords of Waterdeep. The consoles at Brewcadia run the gamut of arcade classics, from Mortal Kombat and NFL Blitz to my personal favorite: Gauntlet--Dark Legacy. I was a bit disappointed by two elements: firstly, the skee-ball machine was down (though Brewcadia's Facebook page now says that it's up and running again) and that the bar charges for pinball. I love pinball, but I'm certainly not going to play it when there are other free machines right nearby. The drinks at Brewcadia were solid, with a substantial selection of microbrews and a good array of well drinks. However, I do have to take issue with the bartending there: the only bartender available (which seems odd on a Saturday night!) didn't know what a Cuba Libre was. I mean...a rum and coke with lime? I'm pretty sure that's a common drink... That said, I'm sure I'll be back to Brewcadia. The atmosphere is great, the games are solid, and the drinks are worth your money. Cheers! read more

Great Beer, Great Service, Great Games, Great Time. The smaller size of this space makes it less overwhelming than most other barcades and actually provides more options for patrons. There's a large bar to sit at as well as tables along the windows overlooking High St. if you're just looking to hang out and chat. A great selection of games including pinball, Skeeball, classic video games and even board games are there if the mood should strike you. When Hurricane Barcade hit Columbus, my love affair with them fierce, passionate, and short. While I can appreciate the hell out of arcade games as an absolute and total nerd, the growing trend has forced me to sadly play Mortal Kombat from a distance. I think Brecadia is different from the barcade status quo in Columbus. I can appreciate the care and consideration that goes into their drink selections and drink menus, and coupling that with some great food offerings already powered by Barley's.....it's like Mario to a mushroom. So this was a place I visited during a conference and the bar tabbwas footed by a manufacturer rep, so I feel that's important to preface this review. That said, the draft menu is huge, easily 30 taps and a lot of good local crafts along with sone good mainstays. I LOVED the bar's own Collar and elbow Irish stout; truly top notch along wity their Scottish ale. Even better the pepperoni pizza, not too spicy, but a good balance to the full bodied brews. The old school free play arcarde games were fun and as it turns out, drinking and racing gamr driving also don't mix! The bartenders are great and the music and TV selection is pretty decent. Listening to Biggie and Tupac while watching Happy Gilmore and a Pacers game was like Freshman year all over again! All in all a good hangout and I would happily pay my own way next time. The only downfall is being located on the second floor with only stairs (that I could find) and being a bit inebriated leaving made for a dicey gamr of will he or won't he fall down the stairs. This is a great bar to visit in downtown. The food was very good and a pretty decent portion for a low price. There is also a nice selection of craft beer on tap to choose from. We recently had a private event here for a graduation party! I cannot recommend this place more. The waitstaff was amazing, personable, and patient with all of the guests.
