I would highly recommend her to anyone but particularly to men like me looking for a solid haircut. The salon is a little humble but clean and the staff are friendly and very good at cutting hair. I'm a 62 year old man, have a job in which I must present myself to students, colleagues, and professional associations. The COVID restrictions, while very understandable to me, made taking care of my appearance challenging. Since buying a home in the area, I have been holding off switching from an expensive salon in another area. I am very happy that I found Hair by the Bay on Fremont in Seaside and in particular that I was able to get my hair cut by Parvin, whom I highly recommend. Did I mention that the haircut cost less than half of what the expensive salon job cost? And it looks exactly as good?

We came in the store and met Adam. Besides being very friendly, he was a plethora of knowledge. He listened to my questions and made some really good suggestions with explanations so that a layman like myself could understand. I felt very comfortable venturing in to my new world of skincare. I should add that I'm fully immersed in a mid-life crisis and am trying to improve my appearance. Adam really helped. My wife wanted some Tiffany perfume, Adam was able to help with that as well and shared what they had to offer. To simplify, we felt like long time customers. He understood our needs and made the best suggestions. He also took a soft approach and offered various options. 2 weeks after our first visit we returned and again Adam greeted us and gave us his first class treatment. I was happy to share that I am really happy with the products I purchased on his suggestion and both my wife and I noticed improvements in my complexion. Today Adam helped with my wife's skin concerns and we left confident that we were guided in the right direction. So you know how we feel about Adam, 5 stars. As for the store, it has something for everyone. The selection and inventory are excellent and the collective knowledge is huge. We are very impressed and quite happy we visited the store and met Adam.

I also asked for and paid for a DevaCut for my curly hair but it was nothing like the DevaCuts I have had before were there are several steps in the process (she only cut when it was dry when it's supposed to be touched up when wet and did not style it after wetting it, also sent me home with wet hair when it is supposed to be diffused until dry). The hair cut was between $80-$100 (can't remember exactly because I tipped) and it was not worth the price considering it was not a DevaCut. My hair has been splitting all the way up the shaft since this haircut, splitting so bad in ways my hair has never split before. There were also a couple strands that were randomly two inches longer than the rest of my hair in the back?? Again because she wasn't really looking, taking the time to section or check if she was cutting evenly. I do not recommend this place.

I said no problem. I got online a scheduled an appointment at 10:15, and I got there and they told me it was too early to color put on. I'm not sure what kind of Goldie Lock's schedule they have around there, but if you want to actually have hair service I would make an appointment somewhere else.

I'm deeply disappointed with my experience at this salon. What began as a straightforward request…read morefor a haircut and highlights turned into a stressful and costly miscommunication that left me unhappy with the final result. I originally requested partial highlights (6-15 foils) and due to scheduling limitations (on their end) I was told the service needed to be split across two appointments. When rebooking online, I changed the service to full highlights with the understanding that this meant more highlighted sections -- not full color applied over my entire head. My intention was clear: preserve most of my natural hair, section off gray streaks in front for color and lighten sections with bleach in the back. What makes this even more frustrating is that the booking system apparently reserved two separate services: one for full highlights and one for partial highlights. I did not understand that this was happening, and when I later asked the stylist why both services appeared in the appointment, she admitted she didn't really know and "didn't think much of it." She also acknowledged that she should have clarified what I wanted before proceeding. Unfortunately, not knowledgeable of the process and having taken an important call during the process... it was applied all OVER my head without confirming the plan with me first. The end result was not what I requested at all. There were miscommunications on multiple levels and because I am fond of the hairstylist, I tried to approach the situation fairly and in good faith. I offered to meet halfway financially by paying $35 toward the color (not the full price $70). That offer was refused outright, and I was still expected to pay the full amount for a service that was not what I asked for. This entire situation could have been avoided with better communication, clearer consultation, and more attention to what the client was actually requesting. Instead, I left feeling unheard, overcharged, and disappointed by the lack of accountability afterward. I am proceeding to ask for a correction without further charge. Will return to update with another review.
