We just walk in with no appointment, sometimes there's a short wait, but usually in less than a blink we walk out fresh and clean. A kid's cut here is $12 plus a few bucks for a tip. I wondered momentarily which local businesses to write about for #ThankYouThursday and decided on two non-restaurant businesses that I'm truly grateful for. For my first shout out of gratitude, he is someone I know has been a mainstay for many locals in Marina and for even those passing through. Ray has been my barber for the last decade. He may seem to some a man of little smiles; but to those who know him, Ray is actually really friendly and even a wonderful person to make jokes with (he would chuckle silently while continuing to work on my hair). He's great at what he does and definitely is the right choice for anyone who wants a no-nonsense, cheap, and fast experience. Pre-Covid, this establishment is rarely empty. I would usually be the third or fourth in line whenever I come in but the wait was never long. It was an efficient process. Post-Covid, it has slowed to a snail's pace and the stress affecting Ray has become visibly obvious. Having my haircut again yesterday, we spoke about his business situation and how much he has been affected by the sudden drop in clientele. He admitted he's doing what he can to maintain hope and scrape by until everything normalizes again - whenever that is - after being denied a requested temporary reduction in rent. As a loyal patron, I'm very thankful for your services all these years. I truly hope things somehow pick up for your establishment again. Worst hair cut I've ever had. The sides are fine, but the top is a total disaster. The right side of my head is almost an inch shorter than the left. He barely combed through my hair. I could have done a better job myself. 11 dollars is not worth it for what you get. read more

Worst haircut ever. $13 was priced more than twice what it was worth. The guy did 4 minutes with shears and about 1 minute with scissors. I have been getting the same haircut for over 70 years. I recently moved to the area and decided to try this shop out after reading the reviews.... The only reason I am giving this establishment two stars instead of one is for the barber's professionalism. Other than that, I asked for a low fade and a slight trim up top and he proceeded to give me a military high and tight. I did not ask for that. Men, I'd suggest going to a different barbershop if you want something more specialized or specific (even though I didn't think a low fade would be that hard). For those guy who don't really care, come to this barbershop if you want. My issue is that most barbershops (including this one) needs to know the current hair trend going on and adjust to the customers needs. Thanks! read more

Due to a change in work schedule I couldn't get my haircut in time with my previous stylist (sorry!) and stopped in at Rays. I forgot her name but the woman who cut my hair did an incredible job! F'ed up what little hair I had...the shop gave me respiratory issues because I believe he smokes inside the shop. I don't care either way if you smoke or not, just don't expose me to it. Getting back to the results, I was missing chunks of hair in the back! So when I got home, I clipped on a 1/2 inch guide to my Oyster, and hit it. My own results were free.
