1 star Noah fully messed up my hair and did not give me at all what I had asked for when I had asked for a full trim with scissors he pulled out the clippers/razor and cut in almost all of the hair off of the sides of my head and I look horrible now he has fucked up my hair left a ton and I mean a ton of height on the top of my hair so that looks horrible as well, but all of it is just because of how poorly he cut the sides he didn't cut my hair at all to what I asked, cut my sideburns insanely short, which was not what I had askedand over all ruined my day. I wanted scissors on my hair because i know my hair you don't. You have no right to charge my 25 dollars for this i expect my money back read more

Unfortunately, I had multiple bad experiences with the owner of Scissortales, "A" Hawkins (aka Naowarat Hawkins), so I won't be going back. The problems I had were: 1) a terrible hair color experience, and 2) dishonesty. The first few times "A" did my hair, it was fine. Then, one night, I showed up for my usual color (I.e., blonde with blended light-brown lowlights and shadow root). "A" had just finished coloring a lady's hair a dark brown - almost black - color, and I thought it odd that I didn't see "A" put away the previous lady's color bowls when I sat down. Without asking me or discussing with me first, "A" proceeded to totally change my hair color. She colored my hair almost entirely solid blonde (no blended, light-brown low lights or shadow root), and she added a few shocking, ugly nearly-black chunks/streaks (see photo). I was horrified by the result and so embarrassed to go to work with that hair. I contacted "A" and sent photos, the next day. It's clearly awful, and she agreed to fix it. She did fix it for free. So, I was just out two nights spent in the hair chair and the embarrassment of going to work with ugly hair. However, it was really concerning to me that "A" had drastically changed my hair, without discussing with me first, and it appeared that she had used leftover color from the previous customer - rather than choosing the best color to go with my blonde hair. I lost trust in "A" after that experience. To me, that hair color just looked sloppy, lazy, and cheap. Then, there was the problem of dishonesty... "A" had told me several funny stories about her lying to customers to cancel their appointments. She told me that she lied to one customer, and told her she had to cancel her appointment because her cat was sick. She said she told the customer that she was at the vet (when she very much wasn't), and then, every time the customer talked to her after that, she asked about the cat. "A" laughed about how she kept forgetting about her lie, and kept feeling confused when the customer asked about her cat. Well.... "A" started repeatedly canceling and rescheduling appointments on me, and there was always some big story. It happened so often that I became suspicious that she was making up lies to me - just like the cat lies to the other customer. But, I gave her the benefit of the doubt - repeatedly, over and over again. The last time she texted a story about why she was canceling my appointment just a few hours before the appointment, I was just so absolutely tired of not being able to count on her to honor appointments. I looked on her social media, and it turns out the she had truly been lying to me. Her social media confirmed that what she claimed had happened that day had not actually happened. "A" had lied, in order to cancel our scheduled appointment. My experience with "A" is that she is not a trustworthy hairstylist in: 1) obtaining a client's permission before drastically changing their hair, 2) consistently doing a nice job (see pic - it's awful), 3) honoring scheduled appointments, or 4) telling the truth. I will not go back to "A" Hawkins. I want an honest, dependable hairstylist who does quality work, and who discusses with me any drastic changes to my hair BEFORE doing it. My experience was that "A" just can't be counted on as a hairstylist. read more

I booked an appointment with Amanda a while ago. Then covid happened. I went and made an appointment in May. Saloons started opening up but, they were taking precautions for covid. ScissorTale did a great job. Everyone wore a mask, hands washed upon arrival, and a few more steps. I really appreciated their efforts. Amanda made me feel some comfortable, and listened to what I was looking for. She truly cares about you and your hair. She pays attention to detail and goes the extra mile! So much so that I think I want to make an appointment late June before I move. She was that good! read more

Love this salon! This was my first time getting my haircut here and I definitely plan on coming back as a regular! I had been eyeballing the salon's instagram page for quite awhile trying to find a new hair stylist. I decided on the stylist, Madi, for my first time! Madi was absolutely amazing. Although I only wanted a trim, she made sure to thoroughly communicate with me on what I was expecting for my hair. I left the salon chair feeling beautiful, refreshed, and confident. I have been going to this salon to see A for about 3-4 years now. I came in as a burgundy/brunette wanting to go blonde. A took me as a client and I haven't let anyone else do my hair since. She got me to platinum blonde within a year and I loved it. Then we went rose gold/lavender for a couple years. And now I have gone back to my roots with brown and decided to keep a little blonde balayage in there to make it less boring. If you're looking for a new hair stylist then this is your salon. I came here when I was a beautiful lime green and it was fading fast. I decided to go for a very dark blue... blue/black and I told my hairdresser that I wanted to grow my hair out. She heard me and said she'd be using semi permanent color, which I was more than happy with because I knew permanent color would murder my already bleached hair. She gave me the cut I asked for and I definitely saw blue as she was applying color. I left the salon happy, it looked black to me, but I thought I'd see the blue in the sunlight. I never saw the blue, and my hair felt like straw. It dawned on me a week or two later that she used permanent black hair dye on me! The blue was never seen and now I can't go back to my vibrant hair and have to cut it again because the damage was so bad. I'm not naming her because she was sooo sweet... but I can't bring myself to go back and I'm deep conditioning my hair 2-3 times a week! Much sad. read more

I have been going to this salon since it first opened. It's always clean, showered with bright natural light, and has a great vibe when walking in. A is my Stylist and I trust her 100%. She recommends the appropriate products for my hair type. I can bring in hair images for style ideas, and she knows which ones will and won't work for my hair type /thickness/ lifestyle etc. If I come in and say "surprise me" (and I have), i trust her 100% that she will give me a cut and style that will be amazing. I recently moved back to OKC and was so glad to find a new salon had opened! Walk-ins are welcome, but I decided to book a same day appointment just because I was being spontaneous and wanted to change up my hair a bit. I have a mohawk, and the long part is about shoulder length. I asked to keep the length, thin and taper the bottom and add some swoop bangs and Kodie worked her magic on me. I love the cut and she was really fun to talk to. She didn't mind going back and thinning more and also re-doing the bangs to make them shorter. The cut was $40, and as someone who gets a cut 2-3 times a year max, that was fine with me. I will be back, for sure! Ask for Kodie! read more

The only nice thing I've found in this city since I pulled in just over an hour ago is this FABULOUS salon with the most genuinely wonderful friendly ladies. I had been traveling across the country for three days straight and due to injuries on my hands could not wash my own hair without a significant amount of pain.... I was in DESPERATE need of a blowout for both my head AND my mind! Not only did Nok take my phone call very politely and agree to keep the salon open extra late for me to provide me with the service I so desperately needed but she took her time and never once made me feel rushed. I came out feeling like a new woman with a fresh mane, a fresh perspective and ready to take on the rest of my journey across the country. I HIGHLY recommend this salon over any other in OKC. I would not recommend Tracy to anyone who values customer service whatsoever. She is very unprofessional and doesn't communicate with her clients. I texted her for an appointment and it took a week to get back to me. I tip 40-50% of my haircut. Last time I tipped $10 on a $20 cut. She doesn't respond whatsoever to texts and I am even a new client. When I missed my second appointment because I received no sort of reminder, she didn't inform me that I would be charged $10 when I showed up for my following appointment as a "penalty". I received no reminder of my appointment and she did not inform me that I even missed an appointment. The fact that she expects people to be in constant communication but takes from Sunday to Friday to reply to a text is a ridiculous double standard. As far as the quality of the cut, it was decent, but one that I "hoped would improve over time" if I were to continue. Don't go to her if you want a good experience. read more

Mattie was great! Salon under construction, but no problems. We drove into OKC Friday afternoon after a week of visiting friends, family, & the Texas State Fair. Many, many miles, several different hotels, hot weather, cool weather, tired of traveling & on our way to another event for a Director's meeting. I just didn't want to have anything to do with my hair. Fortunately my daughter was with us and being a Yelp Director for Austin, checked out hair salons & found one close & easy to get to with great reviews!! As luck would have it, Mattie had just had a cancellation so I stepped right in. She was young, sweet & did a great job on my hair. I'm new to OKC as of a year or so ago, and I've always struggled finding a hair salon I like. I tried one salon in town and thought never again! So I was on a hunt once more to find a stylist. I thought, what the heck and called up ScissorTale to see if they had any available times. The woman who answered my call said she would talk with the stylists in the morning and someone would get in touch with me. The next day I got a call from Natalie asking if 6 pm would be ok. First of all, perfect! A haircut the day after I call? I like that availability for my busy schedule! When I arrived she was finishing up with her previous customer, no problem for me, and took me in. I have thick, long hair that usually takes an extra amount of time to dry and style, so I often get rolling eyes and snarky attitudes from stylists when they see me, but not Natalie! She quickly helped me figure out what I wanted--nothing special just a trim and clean up, and we were on our way. My hair looked and felt amazing! I won't go crazy and say it's the best it's ever looked, but for not much direction Natalie did a fantastic job. The salon technically closes at 6:30, but she stayed past closing time to give me a quality, unrushed cut and style. Sad to say she's leaving ScissorTale and moving, but I will definitely be back to this salon to try out the other stylists! Thank you so much! read more

Will definitely continue to come back here. Recently moved from Norman to OKC and needed a new place to get my hair fixed.Very spacious salon, clean and everyone seems respectful of each other. Ashley Terry has taken care of me first time and I know that I've got some really stubborn hair to deal with, and also recently went from fairly dark to blonde blonde. She was patient and encouraging the whole time. Other people in the salon were also very nice and friendly. Great location too. Ashley mentioned to me how some people getting their hair dyed will go next door all foiled up to Ludivine for a cocktail. Not a bad idea if I didn't think I'd feel too goofy. After expensive haircuts in Boston (at least $65 and up), I am so happy to be back in a place where haircuts are more manageable. Ladies, for $40 you get your hair washed, cut, blow-dried and styled. And of course, great conversation with a stylist. I came really early one morning, but the girls here were still bubbly and nice. Rosa was my stylist and she really listened to what I needed and made sure I was happy along the way. Too bad I can't give 0 stars. This place was horrible. They can't keep their appointments straight so we ended up waiting an extra 45 minutes. Then the stylist paid no attention to what she was doing and chopped off half of my girlfriends hair. I never notice when she gets her hair trimmed, but when I saw her all I thought was how much shorter her hair looked. After discussing how horribly she did, the stylist offered no compensation. Since when do we pay people to do the wrong job? Avoid this place at all costs!! read more

I've been here twice now, both cuts by the immensely talented and wonderfully friendly Lucy, and I'm completed set on this place now. While I hesitate to describe myself in a way that makes me seem vain, I'm incredibly picky about where I get my haircut. I give lots of points for friendliness and atmosphere (I love it when haircut places have real artwork on the walls and give you a drink!), nothing beats a real, quality cut. Lucy knows not just how to give you the look you want, but makes great recommendations and explains a lot about how to achieve a result from and better way to fix my hair. She's a good conversationalist too and I feel like she was actually interested in getting to know her clients. Thanks, Lucy! So, you can get a great cut and style here. They do have the artwork and modern feel, but as far as I know no glass of wine with your session... yet. It's walkable from downtown, as well. read more

The price is totally reasonable and the space is huge. There are tons of stylists there who can cover all ranges of styles, cuts, colors and the newest trends. I really loved this place. It was quiet when I walked in, no ridiculously loud music. It was nicely decorated and they worked really heard to keep the place clean. My stylist was Nichole she was very sweet and knew what she was doing. It cost me $80 for a wash, cut, color and style. I will definitely be going again.
