It was a hot summer day and I happened to be near Bloomfield and stopped by Scoops. I see why it's a favorite. People were going in and out while I enjoyed my scoops of ice cream. The people there were helpful in my decision making which is hard with so many choices. I asked for the post popular and got a scoop of both, the graham central station and pittsburgh pothole. Both are good though I'm leaning more towards the pittsburgh pothole as my favorite of the two. The vibe was cheerful and relaxed and the indoor and outdoor seating made it easy to stay and enjoy some ice cream. read more

Came here after dinner for something sweet. This location is a little dirty compared to others we've visited. The employees were sitting in the back and took a little bit to come out, but once they did they were very nice and helpful. It's always good ice cream at Scoops, I think I just prefer the location by my house. read more

My friend and I came pretty close to closing but there was still a consistent line. The two workers also didn't seem annoyed at all and brought good vibes and good service. Many flavor choices too. The non-dairy cookies and cream was alright. It's hard to get a lot of creaminess from non-dairy options so I felt that that was what was lacking. I appreciated the fact that it was not coconut based as those can get a little greasy or leave a film in your mouth after. This was almond based and filled with cookie chunks (big win). I also didn't think it was obnoxiously sweet either. The single scoop was also way bigger than I thought it would be. Not the best non-dairy ice cream I've had but I would come back! read more

We stopped in during Little Italy days for single scoops after having lunch nearby. We were greeted immediately by friendly staff members and offered to try whatever we wanted before committing to a flavor. We all ended up getting our single scoops in bowls and I went with something super chocolate-y (can't remember the name). The portion size was huge for a single scoop, in my opinion, and the ice cream was so creamy and fresh. I paid under $12 for all 3 and I thought it was a great deal. There really wasn't anywhere to sit inside. So, we took our scoops for a walk outside. If you're OK with not eating inside, this is a great option in Bloomfield! read more

I had a customer at work that was moving out of the area and sad she wouldn't be able to come here for ice cream anymore so I figured I'd come check it out. They have a ton of different flavors for people a little more adventurous as I just stuck with my go to cookie dough. It was a hot day and I had biked to Bloomfield and this was the perfect refresher. The milkshake was very rich but not too sweet which I liked and my only issue was the cookie dough and chocolate chips didn't get blended enough to fit in the straw so I had a bit of a challenge actually drinking it. I went absolutely crazy when I saw they had classic flavors like Superman! I tried it, and it was delicious. I'll be honest, though. It didn't have the consistent cereal milk taste you get at other places, but that's probably because the cereal milk flavor was competing with the flavors of strawberry and banana. I wish I had an extra stomach to try more flavors, like the Pittsburgh Pothole, which is basically a chocolate lover's dream, or the Gold Medal Ribbon, a blend of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. Finally, the service was great! The scooper was super friendly and even made us a mountain of whipped cream. I'll definitely be coming back. This place is a gem! read more

They have a little sitting area inside with some retail space selling pop, ice cream cakes, and candy. There are SO many options it always takes me forever to choose, but I usually pick two. This isn't the place to go if you're looking for super high quality locally churned ice cream or anything but is great if you're looking for a classic scoop of something sugary and fun or are going with a group who has varying tastes. I'm not in Bloomfield very often, but when I am I try to stop at the local Scoops location! It's one of five Scoops in/around Pittsburgh, and it's always a delight to visit. I'm a big fan of Scoops in general, as each location serves up a lengthy menu of great flavors. Some of them have a "Pittsburgh twist" added to them to, I.e. One flavor is named the Pittsburgh Pothole. (As far as I know they haven't tried putting fries on or in any ice cream yet, though!) Back to this specific Scoops. The section of the store that you walk into and order from - across from the ice cream freezer - is admittedly a little narrow. If you're like me and you prefer to walk the full freezer length before picking your flavor, be aware that it can be tough to get a good view when the store is busy. That said, the staff are always the best - all smiles, happy to answer questions, and ready to put together small and big orders alike. The store is bright and well maintained as well. Thought this was a bit of a gem in the Bloomfield neighborhood. It's an old fashioned ice cream parlor with unique flavors and spins on old classics. We tried 4 different kinds: - Grasshopper (mint chocolate with oreos mixed in): super delicious, love how the oreos are mixed in with huge chunks of the cookie. I think it takes the classic mint chocolate to the next level and definitely a must try for mint ice cream lovers. -Classic mint chocolate: I thought the way they made this ice cream was 10/10. The chocolate is mixed in like a little droplets so that the entire ice cream looks speckled (I personally don't like mint chocolate ice cream that have bite-size chips of chocoalte that taste powdery, feel hard, and just downright not that tasty). The distribution of the chocolate was absolutely amazing - I think it is the perfect blend of chocolate and mint ice cream. However, something about the flavor of the chocolate made it taste a bit off - I wouldn't say it was a "chemically" kind of flavor, but just different. I would highly recommend giving this a taste, but if that flavor isn't to your taste, to each his/her own. - Butter pecan: Super delicious. The ice cream has a rich taste of maple and creamy. A bit too sweet for me, but the nuts helped cut that. - Cookies and cream: Loved this classic. Not as cream-tasting but those enormous chunks of oreo cookie really outshines in this ice cream. I would have liked more of those in my serving. My recommendation is to make it taste creamier and cut down on the sweetness, but then you'd just feel sick from eating an entire pint! Overall, great ice cream shop with unique flavors that I hope to try in the future! read more

It wasn't really a cookie nor a wafer, and it didn't really taste like how I imagined it on like an ice cream sandwich. Lol. Plus points for creativity though. A visit to Scoops in Bloomfield has become a regular stop for me anytime I find myself along that stretch of Liberty Avenue. There's a wide variety of flavors available to choose from; however, I've yet to try them all. My personal favorites are the Salt Caramel Truffle and Peanut Butter Chocolate. Unfortunately, it's a grab your ice cream and go type of place. There's very limited seating inside and by that I mean there's only three or four stools by the window. During the warmer months there's two tables that are usually placed outside, but that's only helpful when it's summer. I'm an all-year ice cream kind of guy. read more

Because if we are being honest, if I want ice cream at nine on a Saturday I'm not trying to deal with Oakland, or a place that seems like it is staffed by middle schoolers even though I'm pretty sure that hasn't been legal for a century. The flavor selection here is quite extensive. You get a ton of ice cream in a double and the waffle cones are delicious. I got bittersweet sinphony (coffee) and spimoni. The spimoni was the best I've ever had. Price is cheaper than the competition too. There's seating and on a nice night you could just walk across to the friendship parklet too.
