I'm not being hyperbolic at all when I say this was a life-changing experience. I'll never think about ice cream again in the same way. Scoops is hands-down the BEST ice cream I have ever had anywhere. Period. We went every single night of our trip and got a flight and just four of us destroyed it together. Really nice service. The ladies In there were very helpful and let me try the banana pudding ice cream before I got it! I wished they had pecans but the ice cream was really good and I'm glad they had banana. I think I would have preferred it with smaller pieces of vanilla crunchies in it as they got a bit over powering. Either way with some caramel on top it was awesome. I got one scoop and I'm sure it's because this is a tourist area but it was around $5 which is a bit more than I usually spend on a scoop back at my local place. Amazing homemade ice cream at a great family owned and operated business. My family and I stopped in for a Sunday afternoon treat and will definitely be back. I had the cookie dough ice cream sandwich, my daughter had the salted Oreo on top of a cookie with hot fudge and my husband had the Elmers Fudge and PB cup on a cone . Everything was fresh and tasty with just the right amount of cream. The portions were large and worth the price. We definitely spoiled our dinner but it was well worth it. I now give you the review of Surf City Scoop as I have, at long last, waddled down to the south end of the island and I bring you excellent news: this place is by far the best I have had. Nestled beneath a wooden- floored roller skating rink (I'm not making that up) sits a modest shop where ice cream flavors are posted on mini surfboards just outside the ordering window. A very pleasant young man took my family's order while he told us that the store belonged to his family and that the Cleveland theme was a reference to their previous home. But is the ice cream any good? It was, in fact, quite fantastic. Rich, creamy and with incredible flavor- The whole crew consumed a total of 5 cones in record time. I had the snickers and it was as if a snickers was blended into each bite. My only regret is that I tried this place on my last day. Just came home from vacation in Topsail . Already missing Scoops!! The ice cream is fantastic and I tried my wife's dairy free salted caramel Oreo. WOW, it is amazing, could not tell it was dairy free. Loved it so much we went back 4 nights in a row The girls at the counter are great and work very quickly providing terrific service you wouldn't expect from an ice cream shop. There's a nice place inside and outside to sit and enjoy. We have many decent ice cream places here at home around us in Maine but this place easily beats anyplace around here in both quality and flavor. The texture is incredible. This is our family's favorite spot in Topsail Beach, my preferred flavors are sea salt caramel and sea salt Oreo so far, but they always come up with featured flavors which is fun to try. (Side note: I wish there were pictures of what it looked like when it was first built). We always stop here after the beach! They have two dairy free options (as of today) and I hope they have more someday soon. My kids like to mix theirs together to make "new" flavors and we are never disappointed.
