first time coming to surf city and this was the first spot we chose to grab a quick bite. they were super busy since it was a saturday morning, and it's a beach town. the staff were super friendly and they had lots of items on their menu. they are pricey but that's something you kind of expect that for being on the beach. i got the ultimate fruit smoothie and it was great. their blueberry bagel was delicious as well. read more

The reviews are what inspired us to try this place. The homemade donuts were the draw for my son. I got the large iced latte with a shot of salted caramel. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't great. It was coffee. I could've gotten the same thing at circle k for $2. The "homemade" donuts were super disappointing. Overpriced and super tiny little cake donuts.. with some random toppings.. it wasn't a horrible experience, just think the other hyped reviews are over the top. The staff is nice, the establishment seemed clean, if you're in need of coffee and this is the closest place and you're not very picky or particular about your coffee.. this may work for you I just wanted to add that even though we weren't wowed, the fact that the owner responded shows that this company cares and that alone tells me that maybe we went on an off day and we should give them another try. Great vibe. Workers are nice and quick service even when busy. There are so many options!! (Little overwhelming at first just a warning) also they have the option to make some sugar free which is nice. Personal favorites are raspberry mocha and caramel macchiato. During my weekend trip to Surf City, I visited The Daily Grind twice because it was delicious and the service was great! I ordered the Snickers (speciality drink/flavor) frappe with coconut milk and it was delicious!!! They have milk substitutions for those who have allergies/lactose intolerant. Very busy but the lines moved quickly. I also bought a cute t-shirt from there that I cannot wait to wear! I will definitely be going back the next time I visit Surf City! read more

The Daily Grind has become a tradition for us every vacation in Surf City! The staff is always so kind and welcoming, which keeps us coming back year after year. It can take a little while to get your coffee--even when it's not super busy--but we don't mind because it's all part of the experience. Each morning we make it a point to try a new latte flavor, and it's always fun discovering something different. My favorite part is sitting out on the patio, sipping coffee while listening to the birds--it's the perfect way to start the day. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I just ordered a Tazo iced tea and added a shot of raspberry sugar. From the party I was with, they would "get coffee every day from here if they could". They have a lot of different flavor shots you can add into the coffee in addition to teas, ice cream and some pastries. They have an indoor gift shop as well. This place does get crowded. They have a large, partially shaded patio you can enjoy your order. They do have very limited parking and the parking lot if very tight. read more

Always love this place. Good coffee, extremely clean and even with a long line, they have plenty of staff to keep things moving. In the afternoon/night they have wine/beer available and usually live music. The patio is a great size, with plenty of seating. They also have a small parking lot that usually isn't full. Forgot something on the way to the beach? No problem! They also have snacks, beach chairs, bags, towels, etc. or anything else you're missing. Meh... The coffee was just alright. Nothing special. The baked goods, I had a muffin and it was tasty. The service was fine but the place was very crowded, especially with a lot of people milling around in a tight area waiting for their coffee order. The Mrs. got an egg sandwich and she thought it was fine. Special? Nope... but good. We live in the area - but we might not necessarily go back as there are lots of coffee places around so we thought we would try other places before we commit to a favorite. Stay tuned! read more

We went to grab an iced coffee and the selection of flavors were amazing! The staff was so friendly and helpful. Went back the second day and everything we ordered was super delicious. Again, the staff was super friendly and patient. Ended up meeting the owner and he was very friendly with our girls and made them feel like local celebrities! We went back that evening with our entire family for ice cream and enjoyed the evening on the deck listening to music. Such a wonderful place to visit! What a find! Went to Topsail to meet a friend and she suggested this coffee place. They have plenty of seating outside under "tents" , and I understand they have music also on certain days. I walked inside to order my coffee and found that I was surrounded by baked items too , and they all looked delicious. So any choices to choose from . The staff were very friendly and helpful deciding what I was looking for in a drink. The shop is filled with clothing and they even have a wine selection too. I also think I spied ice cream, I left that for trying next time . They do have some seating inside , but the deck is much better. read more

As a type 1 diabetic for over 20 years, THANK YOU!! I have never seen a coffee shop have so many sugar free syrup options, that not only taste good, put are already incorporated in to various drink flavors. Most places have 1-2 SF options that are shamefully written off to the side in small font (usually vanilla and caramel). At The Daily Grind I get to enjoy many flavors like coconut, cinnamon, white chocolate, peppermint, and more! My family (who doesn't share my dietary restrictions) also enjoy their smoothies and regular coffee syrups. My only complaint is that I only get to enjoy it once a year while on vacation! 10/10 Will always go again...maybe even multiple times a day read more

Got the chance to drive up to check out The Daily Grind today and it did NOT disappoint. This family owned coffee shop shares space with Unwined- we will be back to check that out later. They have a variety of locally roasted coffee and creations from local artists. I was impressed by the variety of coffee beverages and smoothies available which included lots - and I mean LOTS - of sugar free and plant based options. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Stopped by here on a super hot Sunday while the beach goers were trying to get in a last taste of summer. The parking lot and outdoor area were full of beach goers at the adjoining adult beverage place, but I snagged a parking spot and headed inside. The Mint Mocha iced latte took no time at all to prepare and was super flavorful, full of chocolatey goodness, and mint that wasn't overpowering. I probably will snag another shot of espresso next time I stop by, and definitely peruse the shop when I have more time! It was super cute with lots of things to buy!! read more

My experience at the daily grind was enjoyable overall, the food and drinks were good. My husband and I will be back to try the wine bar soon. Customer service was overall excellent. I was only expressing what i witnessed that particular day, doesn't mean it happens often. But with how busy this place was i understand being stressed out and needing to take a break. I only ask that next time if smoke breaks are done in a reasonable spot, & a reasonable time,so that customers don't get hit with it. One of the best local spots for a cup of coffee, breakfast, ice cream, donuts- you name it they've got it and it tastes great! I venture out to other local Java joints but I always find myself coming back to this one. Their large is actually a large cup, not a small cup that's labeled as a large. There are endless flavors to choose from for your coffee beverages and that's what I love best. Every time I have guests visiting from out of town they fall in love with this place. So much so that I end up having to ship coffee beans to everyone that comes here to visit when they go back home. The staff and atmosphere at daily grind is always a good one and everyone is always so helpful and willing to give recommendations.
