My husband and I booked the Ape Calessino tour for our first day in Rome. Our tour guide, Alessio, picked us up from our hotel with a huge smile on his face, fit us with helmets, and we were off on our AMAZING adventure! Alessio was entertaining, very personable, and extremely knowledgeable about the city. With his guidance, we saw landmarks we were expecting to see while also learning facts and being introduced to beautiful parts of the city we would have never experienced on our own. Our tour also included a break for delicious gelato and several scenic stops for photos. By the time our 3-hour tour was over, we felt like he was family, and we had known him forever. 10 days later - round TWO! We enjoyed our first trip with Alessio so much that we booked another tour to pick up where we left off. We had the same wonderful experience the second time and got to see and learn more surprising facts about Rome while zipping through the streets in our Ape Calessino. My wife and I had a great trip to Italy. We finished the trip with two full days in Rome. Since we had done the big tourist items last time in Italy, we wanted to do something a little different. Enter Scooteroma and the Ape (pronounced Ap E') taxi (https://scooteroma.com). Since we weren't too interested in riding Vespas in Rome with a tour guide (due to personal reasons) we selected the Ap E' three wheel taxi option. We ended up with a late afternoon/early evening four hour private tour with Ricardo who was an excellent guide and great conversationalist. Top down since the weather was perfect! As with all licensed guides in Rome Ricardo was extremely knowledgeable and provided great insights. We had coffee (Italian style), stopped for a gelato, saw sights of Rome and learned things we never would have discovered on our own. It was a riot since people took pictures of us (actually the Ap E' and our good looking driver-guide). We wore helmets since the vehicle is considered a motorcycle and helmets are required. What a great way to finish our trip! I think the best part was pulling up into the fancy entryway of the Grand Marriott Hotel and having the doorman open the diminutive and very thin fabric door for my wife and me to alight among the taxis and Mercedes Benzes. I have been to Roma at least a dozen times and I have always wanted to rent a Vespa. On the next trip I was determined to make it happen. We were going in September and I searched the web. While I could certainly rent a scooter, I found Scooteroma and it seemed like the perfect way to go. I could ride a Vespa but also have a guide who would surely go to places not on the regular tour itinerary and perhaps travel routes that might avoid some of the famous Roman traffic. I look the leap and booked a ride. My wife and friends also wanted to go but they were hesitant to ride on 2 wheels. I told this to Giovanni and he arranged to have a pair of 3 wheel Ape Calessinos for them. When we got to Roma and the time came for the scooter adventure, the fun began. I had one of the best 4 hours that I have ever spent in the Eternal City. My wife and our friends said the same thing. We went all over town and to places that we had never been to before. Scooteroma is a must-do when in the Eternal City! I was lucky enough to do three tours with them this Summer and chose the cinema, street art and architecture tour. Michele was my guide for each tour and is a great guy. He is a proud Roman whose enthusiasm and knowledge of the city is second to none. What he doesn't know isn't worth knowing. These tours I'll remember for the rest of my life, a truly unforgettable experience. I can say I've certainly experienced La Dolce Vita! Being on a Vespa is a wonderful experience. I have done a scooter tour with Scooteroma the last two times I have visited Rome. Being from the Midwest, my first tour was of the Rome history highlights and was a fantastic way to see everything up close without worrying about lines, taxis and buses! The second time we opted for a more personalized tour and wanted to see the places the locals actually spend their time. We were introduced to small quaint restaurants, history spots that aren't in any tourist book and even an amazing multi-level grocery store outside of the main drag which was so fun to explore! The Scooteroma tour was absolutely the highlight of our stay in Rome! Right from the start, communication was prompt and precise. Annie was a delight to deal with. We did the tour with our two kids who are 8 and 10. Since they weren't tall enough to ride on the back of a Vespa we rode in the Ape (google it, it's so cute) and my husband rode on his own. We just loved it! Riccardo our guide was lovely and very knowledgeable- which was a real bonus for my husband who is a real history guy PLUS he takes great photos :) We stopped for the yummiest Italian pastries and he gave us great food recommendations. A four-hour Vespa tour with Scooteroma was the absolute highlight of our visit to Rome. It's such an amazing way to see the city and if it's your first visit, as it was for us, you get such a great overview of it and see how it all fits together. Fabrizio gave me a fascinating commentary as we drove around - just enough, not too much information - and he and Alessandro, who my husband went with, were both great company. We loved the pit stops at fantastic cafes we never would have known about. I don't have much experience of riding pillion, but found it perfectly comfortable. I had a big smile on my face for all four hours. Riding past the Colosseum and then along the Appian Way was one of the best experiences of my whole life. read more

I highly recommend Scooteroma for an incredible experience in Rome! Our group of 7 had the time of our lives on the Classic Tour. We had Marco, as our fearless leader, and the other courteous squad drivers were enthusiastic, knowledgeable, fun and very safe. We had the privilege to see parts of Roma you would never see on your own as a visitor; and, we loved the history and fun-facts Marco gave us on the sites we visited. I was a little nervous when booking but we had a wonderful experience!! My husband was surprised how much he enjoyed buzzing around in the double scooter and hearing the history from our guide Valerio, Perfect!! We did the Ape Calessino tour of Rome's historical sights. If we visit again I'd like to book the street art and foodie tour. The roads can be very bumpy which is fun but wear comfortable clothes. I definitely recommend this experience but warn to not overbook your day. We started at 930am, ended at 1300 (1pm), we quickly toured the Vatican (90mins) and then we were exhausted. read more

I had such a great experience with Scooteroma, I went back for a second go! I'm a little scared of scooters/motorcycles in general but was totally comfortable whizzing through the Roman traffic on the back seat of Annie's scooter. The guides were awesome, so knowledgeable about the history of Rome and were able to guide us to some great eating off the beaten path. You can do Rome on your own but after doing Rome with Scooteroma, I wouldn't recommend it! You'll have a blast! read more
