Yes, it is little. Yes it is in warehouse. It's not fluffy and pretty like a Vespa showroom, but with this one transaction I could say thank you very much after six hours of driving. It was well worth it and then I drove six hours home, lol. These genuine scooters are very low maintenance and the reason why we drove so far was we got a wonderful deal. I just purchased my first scooter from Stephen and I can't say enough awesome things about my experience! I gave Stephen the payment to hold the scooter last week and he explained the next steps in detail. I did't take it home that day because I had plans and didn't have time to deal with logistics. Today was the day for me to pick it up and it was ready to go when I arrived. Stephen literally walked me through everything about the scooter and then took me out to the street next to his business to let me practice before taking it out on the high traffic roads. He took his time with me even though he had a customer walk in after me and never broke his attention with me except to tell the other customer he would be with him soon. I am so happy to have found this dealership/shop moving back to Houston! Customer service, prompt repair, and compassion beyond the sale. I attempted to get a tired repaired or replaced at 3 other shops including a large volume discount store, as well as a uncaring, Unprofessional service dept at a cycle shop on 59. No help, no answers to my questions. I luckily found ScooterSmith....on a holiday weekend, the owner and his service tech took my bike immediately, repairing tire and me back on my way in minutes. I know it's rare for that to happen, but it did. The customer appreciation toward me was as much as the service appreciation I had for them. Even a customer getting an oil change inside mentioned how great this place is....I'd agree. Just moving back to Houston, the invite from ScooterSmith to go on a bike ride with the group here meant a lot. I've missed true hospitality and kindness from the south. I can only comment on the experience my wife and I had recently while talking to Steve over at Scootersmith. Even though Steve had his monthly Scooter Battalion checklist on his mind he made time for several customers and potential customers. Steve - I think that was his name might be the owner - gave my wife and I a wonderful introduction to the types of Scooters available without preferences or prejudice 'cept for a word to the wise against 50s in Houston traffic. Even then that was for safety reasons and not any other motive. Will be back to get our scooter from these guys! I have both had them repair an older scooter and purchased a new scooter and had it serviced. In both instances Steve was friendly, knowledgeable, and up front about everything. It's a smaller operation, I think it's usually just Steve and maybe another person or two running the place, but he's answered the phone each time I call, and always taken the time to talk to me when I came in, no matter how busy he was. My stepson bought a scooter 2 years ago and put 326 miles on it before going into the Army. The scooter had a slightly gummed carborator and it needed to be cleaned,. When I brought it home (from my stepsons) 4 weeks ago, I immidiatly put in a new battery from Pep boys and changed the fuel and oil. It ran, but had a stuck fuel metering valve or a gummed-up fuel bowel. (All pretty standard stuff). An easy fix by all accounts. I've worked on 2-cycle engines for years, but I have been swamped at work. When you take a scooter to Scooter Smith, you are told "anything under $300 in repairs, we will repair without notification". Hmm,, that concerned me but, surely a gummed up 2-cycle carb couldn't be over $100. A kit cost about $6.00. It takes about an hour (if I do it). Less if your familiar with this product. I was soo busy and didn't have access to a carb kit, so what the he__, I'll let them put a carb kit in it I thought. I dropped it off and was told it'd be a week or ten days. Three weeks passed and I went in. Seems they didn't have my scoot. It was in their "other"shop. WHAT? "Yeah man, I'm down to just 1 guy and sorry but"....... So today....3 weeks (exactly) after I brought it to these morons. I get a voice mail. ""Scooters ready, it'll be $280." .. YEAH, IT NEEDED A NEW BATTERY!!! And and oil pump!,, Plus the carb..... Folks I've worked on 2-cycle engines all my life + I just put in the new battery.. Anyway after calling them out on their lies, they said they would donate the new battery. PLUS, they said, well, we got the old oil pump to work! So we dint need to change it. Really?? I was so pissed, having to pay $240 for a $6 carb kit and a pack of lies. If I were the litigious type, I litigate this, but, again who's got the time and money. These guys are, IMHO theives. AND I'LL STAND BY MY STORY, and have and independent mechanic testify that they are lying. BTW, When I got it home my new battery has been swapped out for an old battery that is at least 1 1/2 years old Don't think about using these people. read more

Great shop & selection. Stephen and his mechanic are great guys, hard working and they back up their work 100%. Told him what was needed (to/from work, height, etc.) and he picked out the perfect bike. They completely overhauled the bike, new battery, checked everything, and polished it up. He didn't try to oversell or push the more expensive models. And he doesn't sell cheaply-made bikes! (Great ethics.) Got a great deal ($) on a Honda. Couldn't be happier! Brought scooter in for tune up. Told it would be a few days, took over two weeks and still does not run correctly. Also, the owner smelled of alcohol each time I went in there and I think he spent more time sauce'n up then he did wrenching (obviously). Ill never go back. I had ridden my son's ruckus around but at a top speed of 35 its just a bit too slow for city roads. Lucky enough to find Scootersmith on Yale. They sell Buddy Scooters and I got a very nice brand new 125cc for a great price. I joked that the scooter was a lot cheaper than my carbon fiber road bike. The buddy is a great machine, fast (50MPH+), reliable and has great storage under the seat. Owner of scootersmith was great, timely and knows his stuff. My son loves the Buddy too - worth checking out! read more

I highly recommend this place for scooter repairs. They're centrally located with a great staff. Stephen and Chase do most of the work there. They're extremely honest and very quick with their work. My scooter was not getting fuel to the engine so I dropped it off on a Saturday morning and by 2:00, they had it fixed at a very reasonable cost. I will definitely be using them again for all my future repair needs. They carry the Genuine Scooter line and will soon be carrying the Lance as well. The lack of service at this establishment was appalling. They were rude, arrogant and condescending. I have since read other reviews about this place on social networks including local social networks. Seems they are more concerned with the greed for money then they are their customers or service. They may have been great at one time. Now they seem to headed for closer. You can't keep this up and expect to stay in business for long. This is a big city look elsewhere. I purchased a NEW 2015 Lance Cali Classic from Urban Motorsports in Austin Texas back in July of 2015. Had 250 miles on it and it wouldn't start. Called ScooterSmith on the phone to see about having them look at it for Warranty work and they proceeded to diagnose it over the phone that my problem wasn't a warranty issue. The owner was very condescending and spoke to me as if he didn't care if I used their services or not. I purchased it in Austin at the time because ScooterSmith was not a carrier for Lance yet. I called Urban Motorsports and they drove to Houston to pick up the scooter. Took it back to Austin and found that there was a factory defect with the carburetor. It WAS COVERED under the factory warranty. I would NEVER recommend that anyone do business with ScooterSmith. I have contacted Lance as well to tell them of my experience with these people in hopes that they would question their decision to allow someone so sorry and unfriendly to represent their line of scooter. read more

This is a good location because everyone in this area either has, wants, or should have or want a scooter. Bought our Genuine Stella scooter secondhand from someone on craigslist and found out from the title that it was originally purchased here. (The guy was selling his scooter not because he didn't like it but because he had bought another motorcycle and didn't have time for both.) We came here this weekend to look at helmets. Their prices are comparable to all the other scooter stores, but because we'd rather support a local mom-'n-pop shop in the Heights, we came back to buy them here. The owners even gave us a discount for buying 2 helmets. They are honest and helpful; they won't try to sell you something you don't need. They even invited us to join their scooter gang. Maybe we'll take them up on their offer so long as the initiation doesn't involve popping wheelies or running over someone's foot. read more

Not recommended. I have taken my Honda scooter to this shop for maintenance and repairs several times over the past three years but never will again. The quality of repairs/service has been mixed to poor, and on one occasion one problem was fixed but another was created. The owner is brusque and unpredictable in his behavior. If someone would open a top quality, honest, respectful, responsive scooter repair shop in this part of the city, he or she would do very well...because I hear nothing but bitter complaints about Scooter Smith. read more

Had my vintage Vespa at Apollo for months. Finally had to go pick it up because they couldn't get it running correctly. They had been leaving it outside and had also damaged the cowl. Very disappointing to pay for something and get your scooter back in worse shape than before. I had never been to Scootersmith but figured it couldn't be any worse. They offer pick up service. He arrived on time, picked up my scooter from my place, got it running again in a relatively quick timeframe. I went yesterday to pay for it and I don't think it's ever run as well as it is now. He was very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and most importantly fixed it correctly. While I was there, he showed another customer the ropes on a new scooter he just bought. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and the price was very reasonable too. I hope that people flock here and support them. Scooter enthusiasts needed a place like this and now have it. read more

I asked Steve to fix a loose headlight on my Stella scooter. I assumed he would order the correct part and replace the broken item. He didn't. He put a huge screw through the exterior of the frame into the light fixture to hold it securely in place. I also had him replace a battery. After a short while the bike stopped starting. I asked him to replace the starter since it wasn't starting on a new battery. Over a week later, he called stating that I didn't need a new starter, but that my battery did not have water. When I explained to him that he was the one who installed the battery he became belligerent and said he would NEVER put in a battery without water. He then demanded that I pick up my bike immediately and pressed me for a time that I was going to pick up my bike. His hours are very hard to work with, noon to 6, so I told him I would get in there as soon as I could and quickly ended the conversation because he was being so rude and aggressive. He then called back and left a message which said he was going to start charging me a storage fee. Really? It took you longer to diagnose my waterless battery than it has been sitting there waiting to be picked up. Wow. With his flash temper and questionable work quality, I am not surprised to read on Google reviews that others have a court case with this guy. I went to pick up my scooter on a rainy day in Houston. I would not have normally ridden on a rainy day, but he was so mean that I wanted to be done with him for good. Subconsciously, he must feel some culpability in this, because he did not charge me to replace the battery - however he yelled at me outside of his storing stating that I just stole from him. Seriously, Steve? I am a middle-aged housewife who likes to ride a scooter to play tennis - do you think I am devising this plan to steal a scooter battery? He claims that I somehow emptied the battery of water. I take my bike in to have the battery changed - I don't touch the mechanics of any part of the bike. Why on earth would I remove that battery to deplete it of water. Then to shout at me that I just stole from you? Crazy! read more
