I decided to switch my children's ENT after years of a wait and see approach by their former doctor. My daughter experienced chronic ear infections and tonsillitis. Due to frequent antibiotics she developed an antibiotic allergy and ended up in the ER. Dr. Rickert listened to my concerns and was responsive to the needs of my child, which were immediate and significant. My child is also autistic and he approached her with kindness and understanding. He removed her tonsils and put in tubes. My son had a tube logged in his ear for 3 years which Dr. Rickert remove. He has a well-earned reputation of being thoughtful and not jumping to procedures, so I felt confident in our decision to move forward with my child's adenoid removal and ear tubes at his encouragement, and I'm SO glad we did. Dr. Rickert is exactly the caring, compassionate, and clinically skilled physician every parent needs when navigating care for their child. Dr. Rickert evaluated my son's tongue tie, and we decided that a surgical release of the restriction was the best course of action. Dr. Rickert assured us about the procedure and made us feel very at ease and comfortable, even though our child has never had a surgery or gone under anesthesia. Dr. Rickert's team communicated with us regularly throughout the scheduling, and preparation process. On the day of the surgery, the entire procedural team was phenomenal. We are so grateful to Dr. Rickert for improving our baby girl's quality of life. After several ear infections in our daughter's first year, we were referred to Dr. Rickert. We went in for a consult with him and we're scheduled for ear tubes within a week. The procedure was very quick. Dr Rickert , has been my daughter doctor since she was a month old, my daughter is a CHD kid and because of that she has a partial vocal cord. . Dr Rickert has been so good and patience with her. I cant say how much I appreciated the way Dr. Rickert handled my sons situation! Our pediatrician, Dr. Gabriel recommended him. My son suffered with PANDAS. He had strep infections and anxiety through the roof. As soon as I mentioned pandas to him he did not hesitate. He knew what had to be done right away. He scheduled his tonsillectomy and adenoid removal right away. The day we went in for surgery was smooth and very I understanding of my sons anxiety. The nurse (cant remember her name, because I was so nervous that my son would freak out) was amazing with him. She took his mind off everything. The anesthesiologist was amazing. The surgery was a breeze (11 minutes to remove tonsils!). I went in until he was asleep. 30 minutes total. Took an hour for him to wake up, but they were all professional, warm, and very efficient. Definitely worth driving into NYU Langone for everything from pre surgery, surgery and, post op ! Thank you NYU Langone staff and thank you Dr. Rickert. Dr. Scott Rickert is a fantastic doctor. I'm one of his adult patients that he has treated me for a viral hearing loss, a rare condition called hyperacusis, viral vestibular neuritis, as well as an unfortunate incident with a fish bone that passed through my throat. He is thorough, explaining in detail what is going on and why/how it's happening. Kit Frank, my audiologist, caught my hard to decipher hearing loss with a variety of tests that perhaps someone else would have missed. I was very scared and anxious about my various ailments and he was a calming, and comforting doctor that I could rely on for my best care from him and his team. If I could give a higher rating, I would! My 4 year old daughter was suffering from chronic strep and finally needed a full tonsillectomy. We were referred to Dr. Rickert and we couldn't have had a better experience. During our first consultation he completely wiped away all concerns we had and put us at ease. The office is impeccably clean, and the staff is genuinely caring and professional. By the time the day of surgery arrived everything had been taken care of by Dr. Rickert's office, there was nothing for us to do but bring in our daughter. The waiting area had a small play room for children to play in, they even brought my daughter bubbles to blow and before we knew it, our nervous daughter was having a blast. The staff made sure to make everything fun and as stress free as possible. After about 20 minutes our daughter was in recovery doing amazingly well. Dr. Rickert came and spoke with us, told us what to expect and how well surgery went. We expected the worst when we came home but, our daughter was talking, eating, drinking and playing. It was as if she didn't have surgery! We live in Staten Island, and while NYU is a bit of a hike, Dr. Rickert is well worth it! I wouldn't trust my daughter with anyone else and I recommend him to everyone I know in need of an ENT. read more

for years i have had trouble sleeping and simply breathing throughout the day. i first went to dr.rickert when i was about nine years old, in need of consulting my "huge" tonsils and adenoids. i ultimately decided to wait on the surgery in hope that they would shrink over the course of puberty. i am now 17. this year i had tonsilitis which wasn't really going away. i went back to dr.rickert after 8 years of not seeing him, in remembrance of his kindness and cool socks. it was evident in this visit that the best and most simplistic way to put me out of pain and to get a better nights sleep was to shave my tonsils and shrink something in my nose (i forget the technical name but it ends in "oids". the surgery was about 40 minutes and i was greeted with a team of amazing nurses and assistants that made the experience seamless. i cannot say enough good things about dr. rickert. i now sleep so much more soundly, and i can feel more comfortable at sleepovers because i no longer snore! read more

Where do I begin? Dr. Rickert is one of the best doctors I have ever met. He was amazing with my 8 year old daughter. He took his time with us and made sure he answered all my questions (and I had a lot). He listened to my concerns and came up with a plan to treat my daughter. He didn't rush right into surgery even though he is a surgeon. I know it can take awhile to get an appointment but he is worth the wait. I trust him immensely. Head and shoulders above the rest! My children actually look forward to going to him. Other doctors (we have seen 6) in examining the adenoids with a tube inserted in the nose left my children terrified and screaming. Dr Rickert performed the same exam and my children remained calm and trusting. His technique is gentle and quick. He is patient and kind with kids. His explanations are clear, his response to my questions are respectful, and he listens well. His philosophy for surgery is to be as uninvasive as possible. For instance, he proposed just shaving the adenoids rather than removing them all together as was suggested by our previous surgeons. When we went in for ear tube surgery the support staff was excellent. For instance, a family specialist played with my 4 year old son showing him how to dip the gas mask in bubble soap and blow bubbles with it. This taught my child not to be afraid of the mask and very importantly how to take deep breaths into the mask which is necessary when beginning surgery. We were promptly scheduled for a follow up visit at which time Dr Rickert patiently answered all of my concerns. The audiologists were playful and sweet to my 4 year old and 8 year old. The billing office made everything easy; they did all the paperwork and phone calls with my insurance and I had nothing to do. Even when the insurance company made a mistake, Dr Rickert's office took care of fixing the problem Excellent! read more

Dr Rickert is a good doctor. Very friendly and excellent bedside manners. If only he would return phone calls it would be great. I have left numerous messages with his staff about results of a nasal swab he had done on me, but he never returned any of my phone calls. I ended up having to call my GP's office and have him get the results and explain them to me. Turns out I had some bacterial infection in my sinuses. It would have been a good idea for him to let me know. read more
