Great tasting food , party of 3 we stopped for breakfast my son ordered chorizo and he loved it ,benedic breakfast was great and order of eggs n sausage. Their portions are big and we left happy with our pancake at the end. And they acknolege u and ask u how everything was . We will always come back to this spot as it doesnt dissapoint us. read more

Scott's was good. It was actually nice to have another option for breakfast. And it was a good breakfast. All the staff were polite, hustling and smiling. It's what you want to see. We walked in and they tell you, where ever you want. So we sat down, she brought our menus and took our drink orders. And looked over the menu. The food was hot and good. My wife ordered a burger. It was delicious and it came with a pile of fries. I had the chicken fried steak it was good. Hashbrowns good. I don't have any complaints. This is definitely our ew breakfast spot. read more

I tried their breakfast burrito and could only finish half because it was so filling. It was very delicious, but my mistake was taking it to go and eating it back in my room. Don't! It needs to be eaten immediately (I mean SOME cooling is ok) so you can feel your eyes roll back in your head with delicious satisfaction. The pico salsa was delicious too! The wait was pretty quick for the quality. Next time I will eat in to determine the ambiance but from what I saw it was very pleasant and chill. read more

We stopped here on our way from LA to Sacramento to visit family. It was conveniently right off the freeway. It's a good size diner with some interesting, nostalgic decor. We were greeted and seated right away. The server was great. The place was busy but she was very pleasant and took the time to listen to my mom talk about the decor as she reminisced. All the menu items sounded so good! My mom and I both got the eggs Benedict and potatoes along with fruit. It was a good size serving and delicious! The potatoes so the best I've ever had. They were well seasoned, crispy on the outside but not burnt. The fruit was fresh cut, not canned or frozen, and very sweet. We'll definitely have to stop here again on our next visit to Sacramento or any other trip that we pass through here. read more

We were in the area visiting relatives at the cemetery, and wanted to get lunch at a local place, instead of a chain restaurant. So glad we found this diner! It's a hidden gem. We could smell so many good things as we walked in from the parking lot. We were warmly greeted and directed to a seat. We got silverware and menus delivered, and the hostess took our beverage order. The menu had salads, sandwiches, and a few other options on one side - breakfast foods on the other. We both thought the steak salad sounded amazing, so we ordered those and a basket of fries. The man serving us was outgoing and personable; none of it seemed forced, like some servers can. He anticipated our needs and apologized that he got stuck at the register as someone was paying. Salad was freshly washed greens, perfectly grilled steak, buttery soft sliced avocado, etc. We both devoured them, munching on perfectly crisp french fries dipped in ketchup or ranch in between the healthy items. We both lamented that there was not a diner like this in our city. Hopefully we will be in the Merced area again soon, because we want to come back and try the eggs Benedict options! read more

While the service was friendly, the food was just okay. I had been wanting to stop by for a while since I heard great things about it, so maybe I was too hyped and expected more. I ordered the omelette with all the meats (idk the name). I didn't like the texture of the egg. Also, they charge like $3-5 to add fruits to your pancakes. That alone would buy them a good sized bowl of pre sliced fruit at Raleys. That definitely soured the experience. I may go back to give it another try. This Diner is top notch perfect. I have zero negatives the food was delicious and when I order biscuits and gravy I expect them to be hot, gooey, well seasoned, fluffy pillows of heaven and these were it! perfect. I had breakfast, my husband had a burger basket the food came out quick and hot, everything was fresh and good. Service was perfection. My husband and I had Scott's Diner Chicken Fried Steak & a New York Steak for Valentine's dinner tonight. It came with two sides and a salad and they were both so delicious. We also got a chocolate cake and a carrot cake and it was super delicious. We could not have been more pleased with the to-go service and level of customer service from the wonderful staff. The worst service I've experienced in Merced... matter of fact, i think an owner gave me a coupon for how horrible my service was with no real sympathy. .... Thing is, I'll never go here again. My order & finances order was never placed. But My kids ate and we didn't eat with my kids. I had to wave someone down and complain that my food was never served to us. sadly breakfast I waited on wasn't worth it and the ambience was far gone....Horrible experience with my family. read more

Let me start by saying that this is not a bad review, I liked my sandwich very much! I would order this again. Having said that I will also say that the Cubano sandwich at Scott's Diner is not a Cubano. A classic Cubano sandwich--also called a Cuban sandwich--has these core components: Bread Cuban bread, a long, soft white loaf with a thin, crisp crust. It is similar to French or Italian bread but lighter and less chewy. Meats * Roast pork, usually marinated with garlic, citrus, oregano, and cumin * Sliced ham, typically a mild deli-style ham Some Tampa-style versions also include Genoa salami. Cheese Swiss cheese, sliced. Condiments * Yellow mustard * Dill pickles, sliced lengthwise or into thin chips Traditional Cubanos generally do not contain mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, onions, or avocado. Assembly A typical layering order is: Bread mustard ham roast pork Swiss cheese pickles bread The sandwich is then lightly buttered or oiled and cooked in a sandwich press or plancha until: * The bread is flattened and crisp * The cheese melts * The meat is heated through The essential flavor combination is savory pork, salty ham, melted Swiss, tangy mustard, and acidic pickles on crisp pressed bread. Here is where they fell short...the bread. No one expects them to buy cuban bread or buy a panini grill but a textural component of a Cubano sandwich is pressed grilled bread. I give this sandwich a solid 8.5 out of 10 for flavor. All of this is of course just my opinion and I submit this feedback humbly as I would like the same if I were in their shoes. Just a little extra treatment to the bread on this sandwich would take them over the top and they would have the only authentic Cubano sandwich being offered in Merced. One thing I can always depend upon when I go to Scott's diner is that all the ingredients will be fresh and the best quality. For breakfast, I had the sausage and eggs. The eggs were done to perfection. The sausage were plump, meaty, and very tasting I ordered the hashbrowns, although there is option for homestyle potatoes. I also ordered a single pancake, which was fluffy light tasty and excellently grilled. The biscuits and gravy order is fantastic. The biscuits are huge and covered with delicious sausage gravy.
