Disappointing experience. We were seated and sat for over 20 minutes without even being offered water, and our order was never taken. To make it worse, a couple who was seated after us was served before we ever received any attention. At that point, we got up and left. Arrived 1 min before lunch menu was over, but Adrian allowed us to order from the lunch menu anyways. Menu has a great selection of choices from salads, pizza, sandwiches, burgers and pastas. We ordered bacon ceasar salad, the UC Merced burger which includes fries and ordered the clams and pasta. We also ordered combo pizza as our appetizer dish. Adrian also surprised us with a basket of warm bread; just out of the oven. That was perfect and butter just melted right up; didn't even need a knife to spread the butter. Adrian was very attentive to our needs. Didn't need to flag him down to refill out water glasses. It was always full when needed. He asked us how we were liking our meals and always asked if we needed anything else. The place is very spacious and provided different types of seating; booths for comfortable seating or table for 2 against walls for privacy. Also had separate room for bar area to the right of entrance. They are 3rd owners to the establishment and going on their 3rd year owning the place. We had our church conference meeting here. It was 30 of us and they had the food prepared and served at the proper time. They gave us a nice cozy room allowed us to make the space ours and was VERY hospitable toward me my staff and each participant. They handled spur-of-the-moment requests with great discernment and care. When I tell you this place rocks that is an understatement! They made such an impact on our church that a group went back the very next day for a Sunday meal. Great food! Great service! GREATER people! read more

We visited this cute little restaurant one day while passing through and we took our youngest with his roommates out for dinner before he returned back to school. The place looked fancy, it was really clean and there was plenty of seating. The parking is shared with other businesses so it might get a little busy. Food was just okay to me. I don't usually get chicken Alfredo but on this night it sounded delicious. I usually order seafood pastas at Italian restaurants since seafood is my favorite, but I decided to get a classic one. It was good, but for the price I feel like it's expensive for something that we can make at home, so if you come skip the chicken Alfredo, unless it's your absolute fave then you should try it out. Service was excellent. The gentleman that waited on us was very professional and took care of us well. If I was ever in the area, I would love to come back and try something else. We came here to celebrate my son's graduation and was looking for a good steak place. There were limited choices in the area (we are not from here), but it seemed like there were good reviews. I did see one bad review about the steak but figured maybe it was a one off. Sadly, it isn't the case. The New York Steak was not seared at all, looked boiled, and didn't really cooke well. Medium was well done; and medium rare came out medium well. Fish and chips were too much batter too and the veggie sides were underdone. The good points however: - tomato bisque tastes great, - calamari was tender (still a lot of batter, but good enough), - the fresh BREAD and butter were amazing- saving grace! - Mashed potatoes tasted homemade. - And the alfredo chicken pasta while it seemed too soupy at first, reheated well at home. Chicken was grilled well and tasty Our server was also really sweet and attentive. Perhaps we should have had our steak redone, but we were not planning to be back in the area and just too tired to wait. I have been here a few times and have never been disappointed. I tried the Tarragon salmon and the taste of the dish was exquisite. The buttery tarragon complemented the salmon perfectly. Every interaction we had with employees were positive. The customer service was better then most for Merced. I asked our server Kristina what her favorite was ( linguine Vera Cruz) and I ordered that. It was good. I did hope there were more bell peppers and fresh basil, but it was still good. My husband ordered the chicken masala and he was not impressed at all. His pasta and broccoli he said were just average. We did order the artichoke dip which was also average. Not bad but not memorable either. The restaurant was very clean and well lit. The kitchen was playing pop music which I would have loved to hear some Italian in the restaurant for the atmosphere. Table 59 Restaurant is a fairly new addition to the dining scene of Merced, CA, as they opened their doors two years ago, and since then, they have made quite a name for themselves among Merced "foodies." The concept of the restaurant is simple: Serve delicious "New American Cuisine" in an elegant dining room and provide outstanding service by friendly staff. As you enter the restaurant, you'll be meeted and greeted by a friendly staff member, who will seat you and provide you with a menu. I was with a group of family and friends tonight, celebrating a milestone birthday for my brother, and our group was set up in a private dining room at the rear of the restaurant. The dining room features high ceilings, romantic lighting, and a breathtaking mural of Venice, Italy, which adds to the amazing dining experience. Prior to Table 59, this used to be DiCicco's Italian Restaurant, and the Italian-style decor has remained without change. I understand the Table 59 is owned by the same party that owned DiCicco's, but I could be wrong. The menu has changed, as it's "New American Cuisine," but there are many Italian items listed on the menu, including pizza, calezone, pasta and lots more. When you order a dinner, you were offered soup or salad as a side. If you ordered a salad, you were offered your choice of dressing. The staff brought out the fresh garden salads on a large round tray and set them on a support and served salads to those who ordered them. The staff truly has talent, and how they knew what salad - complete with the right dressing - was ordered by each diner was beyond me. I went with ranch dressing, and my salad arrived - ordered - with ranch dressing. If you chose soup to accompany your dinner, you were treated to "Tomato Basil Soup," along with a package of saltine crackers. Honestly, after looking at the soup, I wish I'd gone that route, as I went with a salad instead. The soup not only looked amazing but the aroma was... ahhhhhhh... I went with a salad. Naturally, you get a choice of dressing, and I went with "Ranch," which is my favorite. Such a class act, as the cup of dressing was served on the side. From the second page of the menu, which features chicken, seafood and steak, I went with "Fish and Chips," which is one of my favorite dinners on the planet. The menu describes this amazing entree as, "Hand-battered haddock served with fries." Such a simple description for an amazingly delicious dinner! Can you say London meets Venice? My "Fish and Chips" began with four pieces of haddock, cut long, and on the thin side, coated with a beer-based batter and deep fried to a beautiful, perfect golden brown. The fish was white, tender and juicy, and the batter was crispy, and "crunched" when you took a bite. The fish-to-batter was perfect, as the batter enhanced the experience, and didn't overpower the delicious fish. The fish was topped with a slice of lemon which enhanced the presentation, and was perfect to squeeze on to the fish for a bit of zest. Along with the fish came a small "mountain" of chips, which were actually fries. The fries were cut on the small side - not chunky - and very long. The fries were deep fried to a light golden brown and crispy on the outside, yet moist and tender on the inside. They made for great eating and a great "base" for the fish to top. The entree was served with three small cups of sauce for dipping: Tartar sauce, ketchup and tangy cocktail sauce were served on the side, which complimented my fish, but did not overpower the delicious battered haddock. My dinner of "Fish and Chips" was simply amazing! Both the fish and the fries were deep fried perfectly; crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. In addition to the "crunch factor," both the fish and the fries packed a whollop of flavor! The food is absolutely amazing, crafted with great attention to detail! I loved the dining room, complete with the high ceiling and the attractive mural on the wall. The service is efficient, fast and the all the staff are super friendly. I could dine at Table 59 Restaurant every day for the rest of my life and be a happy guy, as everything their menu looks amazing, and the food I saw tonight that other members of our dining party tempted my taste buds to the maximum. Booked Table 59 by accident for my department Christmas lunch and I'm So glad we did. The menu selections, service and quality were all excellent. We started with bruschetta and calamari - both were prepared well and flavorful. The calamari wasn't rubbery or mushy and was fresh and tasty. We ordered a variety of entrees including the chicken parm, fettuccini Alfredo, penne Milano and the tarragon salmon. Everything was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Came here for a wedding rehearsal dinner in their reserved seating area. The ambiance was great, since it was a nice set up of tables for the guests and standing areas to mingle with one another. The service from all of the staff was awesome, everyone was so friendly. The menu for this particular event has three choices, I chose Shrimp Scampi and it was so scrumptious. I liked the flavor of the dish and that the shrimp size was bigger then what I have seen at other restaurants. FYI---the tails were left on the shrimp, in case you care about that sort of thing.
