Stopped in with my family for lunch on Friday. When we walked in the restaurant was pretty busy and unfortunately only had one server working all positions herself. She greeted us and sat us. Then we sat looking at the menu for over 10-15minutes and she still had not returned to even get our drink order. She finally returned and apologized for the long wait. We ordered our drinks and food since we were now ready. The food took quite some time to come out. But as we were waiting we noticed the tables around us still had not received their food as well. When our food finally arrived it was really good. We ordered the buttermilk ranch Chicken Sandwich with fries / sweet potato fries, double stack burger added egg on top with fries & kids chicken tenders. Chicken sandwich was perfect. Juicy on the inside and perfectly crisp on the outside. My husband enjoyed the stack burger. The restaurant was clean and had they of had a hostess & busser to help out the waitress I believe the experience would have gone better. For this I deducted 1 star. read more

Lunch with my son and pup here was fantastic. We sat outdoors and the courtyard in front of the restaurant is a nice space to take in the active downtown view. Our server was top notch and very well versed on the menu. They have a full bar and extensive menu. We started with the poke appetizer, which was amazingly flavorful. I was not expecting the ample amount and excellent quality of this dish. It's a must-try if you like raw fish. We also tried the bacon wrapped dates, which were awesome. The cashew nut inside is a pleasant addition. I ordered the 510 Penne for lunch and my son had the tortellini. Both were excellent. The chicken was very tender. It was a lot of food and we took some leftovers. They have a unique payment system whereby you can scan a barcode on the bill to pay your bill automatically. This was a nice touch and came in handy to pay quickly because rain was rolling in. Overall I highly enjoyed this restaurant and look forward to my next visit. However, I Ordered a steak, asked for it seared instead of grilled (IYKYK), med rare (of course). Instead I received an over cooked, thrown in a cold pan steak. I was sad. The risotto was not thoroughly cooked (bit into some uncooked grains) and the flavors were not there unfortunately. Lack of seasoning in everything. Any sort of redeeming quality this place might have received was immediately dismissed by the fact that sitting outside meant you are going to be subjected to homeless people and worse yet, the pot smoking folks hanging about adjacent to the restaurant's "scenic patio". When asked if there was anything to be done about having to smell the pot smoke, I was told that there was nothing they could do other than move me inside. Sorry, if you want to create a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere with an outdoor option, don't subject your patrons to drug using non-paying people hanging about. I got my food to go and went back to my hotel only to discover the steak I'd ordered was overcooked, rubbery and the rest of the meal hardly palatable. I had intended to get additional food after my meal to enjoy after dinner but that idea was scrapped as soon as I was moved inside. I should have cancelled my food order but I was very hungry and just wanted a nice, relaxing dinner. I might as well have been eating my $51 soup, salad and appetizer in a sports bar with peanut shells on the floor. Between the kitchen person saying the F-Word no less than five times loud enough for me to hear, to the waitress arguing why she should not have to do silverware, and that so-n-so doesn't do anything and can smoke later, to their banter being everything but professional for what the restaurant represents to some of us, I cannot believe how unprofessional this place was. We moved to. Merced just 10 months ago. Been trying out local cuisine to support the local businesses. Five-Ten Bistro is a must visit. Clean bathrooms are an indication of the level of attention to detail. I had the daily special and it did not disappoint. Chicken so ten I could cut with a fork. The lemon pepper sauce was amazing. Best I have had in a restaurant. Wild rice was plentiful and solid texture. Service was excellent. Did not interrupt us but was checking on our drinks in a timely manner. I am so happy we stopped in! Another fun afternoon in Merced and this time we got to walk around downtown and have lunch. Wanted to stick to outdoor dining today and Five Ten Bistro has a large outdoor seating area in a lovely courtyard near a water fountain. I'm sure this setting is quite lovely at night (they have lights strung up above the tables). We were greeted as soon as we walked in and directed to choose our table. Our drinks came out quickly-delicious coffee with fresh cream and an iced tea (dry January:). Great California bistro menu--not overwhelming- sandwiches, burgers, pastas, salads, soups. A great selection of apps-I'd love to come back here in the spring or a summer evening for drinks and apps. I recommend the Carnitas Sandwich with fries. Great service throughout our visit. Me and my partner were delighted by her kindness! What a God forsaken town! The majority of decent restaurants don't open until Friday! We ended up here by our own mistake. We looked for a Hyatt hotel in Sonora and without looking at the city, we booked here in Merced! UGH! So, back to my beer. They were having problems with the PB Stout tap. I ordered a wine instead. We've been to the restaurant 3 times now over the past six weeks (Oct/Nov 2021) and my big question I ask myself is why did I wait so long to go? The food and staff are fantastic! My fiancée and her folks have tried many items on the menu and each has been perfectly prepared. I'm attaching pictures of the various dishes and they taste as good as they look! Not-so-new to Merced diners, but new to me, is Five Ten Bistro, which takes it's name from their address at 510 West Main Street, in lovely Bob Hart Square. California bistro at it's finest, with a elegant touch that caters to the cuisine of Merced diners. Five Ten Bistro has been a Merced dining destination for quite some time, and it was about time that I was able to pay a visit to this amazing restaurant... again... after a long hiatus of nearly eight years. On this early afternoon in mid May, the patio was very popular for dining, as the weather was warm and sunny, which made outdoor dining a pleasure. The restaurant features a large patio for outdoor dining and is known among Merced residents as a great outdoor dining destination. As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the small bar with only four stools. The bar is compact and comfortable, and offers every kind of mixed drink that you would enjoy. Since the weather was so wonderful, all dining was outside, on the lovely patio. From the "Seafood, Steaks and Chicken" section of the menu, today I went with "Beer Batter Fish and Chips," which happens to be one of my all-time favorites. The menu simply describes this amazing entree as, "Home made beer batter, white fish and French fries, chipotle and lemon garlic aioli dipping sauces." Such a simple description for such an elegant meal! Five Ten Bristro give you FOUR pieces of perfectly seasoned white fish - most likely cod - and battered like you'd expect if you were dining at a London pub. The fish was deep fried to a perfect golden, crispy brown on the outside, and inside the batter, the fish was tender, juicy and white, just the way perfect deep fried fish should be. The batter-to-fish was just right, and Five Ten Bistro seems to have "nailed" fish and chips, any way you look at it. Four pieces of perfect fish makes for an amazing and filling meal. The chips, or as 510 calls them, the "French fries..." were simply a work of art. They were deep fried to a light golden brown on the outside, and chewy, juicy white tender on the inside, as perfect fries should be. Dipping sauce... OK, that's another subject, but if you're dining at a fish and chips restaurant in London, you get vinegar for "sauce." Five Ten Bistro got my attention, as they did not offer vinegar - much to my surprise - but no less than THREE dipping sauces were offered on the side. In all of the "fish and chip years" I've eaten through, I've never seen a restaurant that offered THREE dipping sauces! Three dipping sauces were included with this amazing lunch, and the sauces were ranch, ketchup, and "garlic aioli" as per the description of the menu. I have NEVER enjoyed fish and chips with three dipping sauces before today's visit to 510 Bistro, as one usually expects to find malt vinegar or ketchup for "dipping" pleasure. Four pieces of delicious fish, a large helping of fries and three dipping sauces... Five Ten Bistro serves delicious fish and chips, and much more. No wonder "510" is a "dining destination" for Mercedians, and those who appreciate fine food! When you combine the amazing food, large portions, along with the lovely patio and friendly service, how could anybody not rate Five Ten Bistro five stars?
