Brigantine lost the "fishfinder" and Atlantic City's "high roller" was absolutely dreadful last year in 2024 So I surfed the net and found "The Captain Robin" out of Margate at Ray Scott's dock. What a fantastic experience. New boat, excellent, and knowledgeable captain, and mate and fresh bait!! The rods were all new and properly rigged. The mate was super attentive. I applaude the owner of Scott's dock for the investment he made in his business with the purchase of the new vessel. It'll bring much joy to all who come aboard for years to come. Thank you! Boat rentals are great. Not a large selection of fishing gear. They open early and offer a good selection of bait.

Great experience! My two kids, ages 7 and 10, as well as my father-in-law (70s) all enjoyed the 4-Hour outing on the captain Robin. We didn't catch any keepers, but we did catch some fish and enjoy the cruise and the atmosphere! read more

We took a boat ride with Capt Eddie on Sunday which was a gorgeous day! He took us all through the back bays! We fished, and he took us sightseeing and to dinner at the Wonder bar! What a wonderful time we had ! Would highly recommend ! We will certainly do those again and will always request Eddie! read more

Have had multiple bad experiences and last time was enough. Robin the owner last year has giving a reservation of a boat to one of her friends after I already had it booked and made me change my day. This year we had put a deposit down to hold the dock never told about a 48hr notice to actually be able to use the dock. After I texted her and let her know that I am able to make it down there in 4days time. Now I have to wait for an appointment and that 48hr wait time went out the window. So I messaged her back to see why I have to wait for an appointment and she couldn't even respond to me. She called my father can told him she is send the check back. Which is fine I don't wanna have to use that place again. It's sad because the workers there know what's going on. Robin in the other hand is a JOKE. An amazing fishing experience for the entire family. We had relatives in from Ireland and called in the morning, and they had us on a boat by noon stocked with rods, bait and water. Captain Joe was the best. All 6 of us caught 10-20 fish each and brought home keepers for a delicious dinner!! Highly recommend!!! read more

I've gone crabbing now twice with Ray Scott's services and all of my friends say this is our new tradition every summer to come. I rented at Ray Scott's Dock two days in a row. First a single kayak on Friday then a small fishing boat for my son and me, along with poles and minnows, on Saturday. The service was super friendly and helpful, as I was a fishing newbie. I have no complaints. read more

Overall a bad experience. The staff was rude and rushed us. They don't accept credit cards so you have to use their ATM and pay the fees on site. The boat I was given was falling apart and not safe for bay travel. There isnt any good spots to fish outside the travel lanes. I wish we had traveled a little and found a better dock. Ray Scott's Dock is a great place to come when you are looking to rent a boat, kayak, fishing gear (which you can rent or buy), etc. Every year, my family rents a Pontoon boat and we head to a restaurant for lunch and then go back. We always have a wonderful experience with this shop. They are also really kid friendly, super nice and always answer kids questions with a smile. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They are honest and very helpful to new customers as well as to those who do not know too much about boating. They even provide maps and advice so you can figure out where to go/what to do. The shop is well stocked with everything you may need, and the boats and equipment seem to be well maintained. I believe you can also keep boats here if you own them. Cash or check only. Highly recommend! read more

In general a fun time. Took the bus from Atlantic city terminal. Cost us $1.50 each way and had to walk the last mile. Could have connected for 65¢ but chose just to walk it. The shop is basically a fishing shop. They rent kayaks and motored boats as well. We got a double kayak and it was $30 for the 1st hour and $10 each additional hour. Had to wait for kayaks to come back before we could go out. They don't seem to have all that many kayaks, maybe 4 or 5. Older guys were nice and helpful. Younger guy was not. We asked him if he had any advice on where to go and he said "I don't know". Had to ask for life jackets and paddles. Were told they'd give us life jackets but most don't wear them. We ended up going through the marsh channels and back around. A tough but good paddle. Most importantly- cash or check ONLY. We had to walk to the CVS 3 blocks away to get cash which was a royal pain in the ass especially after walking a mile and waiting a half hour for a boat. We'd go again but glad we are more informed now. read more

This place is an absolute charm! This is the second time we've done a boat charter here to speaks the afternoon fishing and crabbing and enjoying the waters of Ventnor, Margate, and the bay. The owner is a pleasure, the charter was on time, our Captain Ed was a real joy. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, and very competent. Great place to rent a boat or kayak or pick up some fishing gear. I've been coming here for several years now and couldn't recommend it enough. Chris, Robin, and the rest of the staff are always super helpful and give great tips on where to go and what to use to catch flounder. I had never fished for flounder before coming here and now it's one of my favorite ways to spend my summer weekends. Everything is cash or check only but there's an ATM in the store if you need to get cash out with a debit card. Regardless of your age, if you're looking for a fun way to spend a summer day in margate I would recommend renting a boat from Ray's and going after some flounder! read more

I had the absolute pleasure of being part of a bachelorette party that rented a pontoon from Ray Scott's Dock. We had the pontoon for 4 hours. We were able to bring our own snacks and beverages and had the entire boat to the seven of us. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We required wheelchair accessibility. The dock was suitable to our needs and the staff was more than accommodating! Prices were reasonable and everyone was friendly. I will be sure to visit Ray Scott's again!! read more

We were mid-way through our fun family day when the owner called us yelling at us that we needed to come back immediately or they would "come and get us". We are a rule-following family out crabbing with 4 young kids. When we asked for more information (as we were shocked), they actually hung up the phone on us. We still do not understand what provoked this but they told us when we got back that they "have eyes everywhere". Completely awful way to treat customers. You do not need a boat license or experience to rent here but apparently they treat you as such. This is too pricey and cash-only to be treated this poorly. Consider going to Somer's Point or OC and stay away! read more

I have used Ray Scott's before and was very happy with them, but today they were a huge disappointment. I called Wednesday 5/29 to reserve a pontoon boat for Saturday 6/1 for a birthday celebration with my family. I spoke with Chris, who said they only had one boat left and that he needed cash or check deposit to hold the boat. He said if I overnighted a check I could have the boat. He also said Robin, the owner, would call my husband in twenty minutes to see if she could help us out. She never called, and Chris called today and told my husband he got the overnighted check, but they had no boats. That's just not right. If they said there were no boats when I called fine, but to tell me to overnight a check, cost of $7.00 and not uphold his end of the agreement is wrong. My husband called Robin and asked her to reimburse the cost of the overnighting and she said not. This is just not good business. There was no concern for messing up our families' plans or for the inconvenience. They should have tried to make it right. I will not use them again. read more

We chartered a boat here with Captain Ed. What a fantastic experience! The entire staff was friendly, happy, and accommodating. They were all interested in teaching our kids about marine life and boating. Captain Ed was so laid back and easy going. He was extremely helpful with the kids constantly making sure that they had the best time. He is very knowledgeable about the island and fishing. We all had such a fabulous time! Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Called for a boat slot and show up with my family and my 8 year old who was super excited to go out on the boat and due to their error we could not go and they would not work with us. Asked for an extra 30 minutes and was told they could not help. Nothing worse than letting a child down. Avoid these people at all cost they could not have been more rude and inconsiderate if they tried. read more

I am very disappointed with Ray Scott's, I had a family crabbing trip scheduled and sent a deposit check in and 3 days before the event they tell me they can't stand by their agreement and honor my reservation because they gave the boat to someone else. I was able to call another marina and get a reservation on such short notice after I told them what happened. My family and I are extremely disappointed with this kind of business practice. Not sure how they could do something like this to someone on such short notice. I would not recommend them to anyone because you don't know if your reservation will be honored even with a deposit. read more

We rented a boat for 5 Hours. The Boat was dirty and very worn. Gates on the boat were broken and kept swinging open. The customer service was horrible. They were not very helpful.
