My wife and I have used Scott's U-Save for years for tires and repairs on a history of cars. We recently decided we needed tires for our 2016 GMC Terrain. Started by looking on-line and we found a great deal at Belle Tire because they had a "Buy 3, Get One Free" thing going on. Scott's has a price match program and so we talked to Dave at the Steger location about matching the price. He was able to match the price and also recommended a coupon book that would give us the fourth tire free and 4 oil changes and more. We were so happy that we could get our tires at Scott's because we trust them to do a quality job and they always let you know your options and spell out the prices very clearly. Went there to get an oil change on my car, few days later engine went out. Not a good place to have your car there Period!!!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I called in to schedule a check engine light scan and a tire rotation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was told to be at the facility at 8am to get checked in and they would be able to do the scan right away (per the scheduling associate I spoke with on the phone when making appointment).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Needless to say the vehicle was not started on right away as stated on the phone when making the appointment, it was almost 8:40am when the vehicle was brought back. After being at the facility for 2 hours I inquired as to the status of the vehicle and was told the just completed the scan, but had not done the tire rotation (which would take another 20-25 minutes per the associate behind the counter). After this dumpster fire of an experience I was then charged $150 for the scan and but tire rotation was never done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In the past I have had positive experiences at this facility and have brought a number of vehicles to them for maintenance and repairs, but would strongly recommend other facilities for your vehicle needs, as their customer service on this visit was down right AWFUL.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When pressed about why it took so long to get only the scan done the person behind the counter appeared to care less about my frustrations and told me there was nothing that could be done.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If Scott's does care about their customer's satisfaction, they should not just dismiss someone who has a complaint as if the customer is the BURDEN in this situation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also emailed the company directly to share this, but felt it was worth providing to others who might be looking at Scott's for maintenance or repairs. read more

New tires and alignment, tires ride smoothly and handled well on the wet pavement. My old tires were slipping on dry pavement and tread on the old ones was worn down on the edges really bad. These were installed in early December just in time for snow. They also gave me a nice little wheel lock bag for my old rims from Discount Tire, and a nice pen. Shop has nice clean waiting area and WIFI. They had free coffee but I brought my own beverage for the wait. Great rebate made tires a great deal for the money and will last for years of trouble free driving. read more

Brad, I take issue with your response dtd 1/4/23. I agree about the difficulty in estimating costs of repairs by phone for undiagnosed mechanical/operating repairs. What I had asked for was the cost of specific service, i.e flushing a radiator, etc. With the info given I ok'd the work and if anything else was found - such as heater core needing replacement, I would be called, and a decision then made. The work proceeded. I was called because prior to starting I mentioned that the vehicle was 20+ YO and only driven abt 2K p/yr. Just do most economical way. I was asked if I wanted a new thermostat. At $28 I gave the OK. No need for heat core replacement - a big relief, until I saw the cost of work done. Double the estimates and without any complications mentioned to me. Your msg to me suggested I talk to "Jack" of your shop. I called on 1/5. He was headed to a meeting and would call later or the next day. I have yet to hear from him...just as well as I know nothing would come of it. read more

Tire sprung a leak on a Saturday at noon. Headed straight there but called to let them know. Receptionist had to ask first then told me they closed at 2 and would try to fit me in but made no promises. I've had good service from here before and was shocked at this reply. This was a just small emergency but I would think they could guarantee they would repair it. I went to another place and they had me in and out in under 30 mins. I made an appointment for an oil change. I was advised to have a transmission flush and replace the cabin filter, said yes. That took 5 hours. I was also shown a picture of a tiny oil leak and was told it needed a valve cover gasket and based on 70,000 mileage I should get a tune up. I was quoted $1008 plus tax and it is an all-day long repair. I took it to Ford for the tiny oil leak because it was covered under my extended warranty. Scott's misdisgnosed my vehicle and would have done the WRONG repair. My vehicle needed an oil pressure switch, not a valve cover gasket. It is also not due for a tune-up until 100,000 miles. I walked out of Ford 2 hours later and only had to pay a $100 deductible. If you go to Scott's, get a second opinion. read more

I feel ripped off, i went in because my car was overheating, they quoted me i was desperate and needed my car to get around people warned me about them but nobody could get me in. imma be honest i don't know a lot about cars but everyone I told was shocked and saying that doesn't sound right. fast forward they told me that the car was overheating because of something else. repairs for that are way more than the car is worth and i don't have 3,4k anyway. so I'm out of 1300 bucks and the car isn't working. i broke down crying when i got off the phone with the guy, he literally told me "this is bad" he was kind and whatnot but if they knew it was something else why didn't they tell me, they did a half ass job and i have to pay for it. point of this review is, don't come here they are out for your money. my mom even went here and they quoted her a shit ton of stuff she took it to the honda dealership and they said it was bullshit. When it comes to cars, go to a place you trust, that is fair and isn't going to capitalize off your situation. Paid 1100 and 1300 and still needed to get my car fixed again. The first time went in for brake inspection knowing something was wrong but non specific seeing as I'm not a mechanic. After fixing the various problems the fluid was still leaking and they ended up fixing it for free because it was most likely a faulty gasket that they put on which happens. That's just how some things end up. But when I went to get my leaking power steering fixed they replaced the hoses for 1300 but couldn't replace a rusty clamp on the hoses. I ended up having to pay another mechanic to inspect and replace it on top of what I already paid Scott's. read more

Been back to Scott's U-Save to have them fix what they damaged and three visits later I'm still having the problem! Would I go back to them for any tire or repair service definitely not! Jim had responded to me by saying the sensors would be replaced since they were damaged at your shop, when I returned for the third time Dave did not replace the sensors like Jim had suggested and I am still having issues with my car. Attempted to charge me 2.5 hours of labor to drill out 2 sheered bolts for a exhaust pipe ( easily accessible) and attach 2 new bolts between the flanges. I refused, after hearing their ridiculous quote. With there not being a set labor time for this task they decided to make up their own very untrue estimate hours. Disgraceful! This place is absolutely amazing, myself and my girlfriend and our 3 month old daughter were there yesterday because we needed new tires on our Chevy equinkx, this place was the most nice, professional and amazing place I have ever been, the mechanics were extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful and I could also see they were no nonsense. We were there for almost 2 hours waiting, but that's nothing I have waited longer at the VA and received shitty service but these people went above and beyond for us better than any Merlins auto place. I highly recommend coming here to get your car fixed, they will take care of you and understand what customer service means. LOVE THIS PLACE! For tires, ok. For anything else, not. This was 3 strikes in about a month. 2003 Toyota Corolla Quoted over $1300 for emissions repair, Crete Auto fixed it for $104. Asked for two new front tires and I was told the new tires were rotated to the rear, not what I asked for, the rear tires were fine. They replaced the good tires so I then had to buy 2 more tires, thanks a lot. 2003 Lesabre I was told I had 3 bad rims. I just needed the tires reseated, they are now fine along with the rims. I called them to report my dissatisfaction and Tom was pleasant to speak with. You will get my business for new tires but I will wait as long as needed to go to Crete Auto for any repairs. I purchased a set of tires about 1 1/2 years ago. Today one of my tires popped. The tires came with a 6 year defect warranty and 2 year warranty for 50,000 miles. When I talked to a rep at Scott's he confirmed this and asked that I bring the tire in so they can check it out. When my husband brought it in, the rep said that he didn't mean to say that and that warranty that he looked at was for a newer version of the tires. They were super uncooperative and looked for any reason to blame me for the defective tire! We ended up having to purchase a new tire anyway. Don't trust their warranty process. It is fraudulent! As you can see in the company's response to my post, they are blaming me for the defective tire. I get my oil changed at a dealership and have my tires rotated with every oil change. I also have a car that alerts me when my tire pressure is low so I would have put air in my tire if I needed it. This was not the case at all. This was a defective tire! And how do you know if my husband paid for additional coverage if you don't know who I am? Why would I purchase any additional warranties when your company didn't cover the original warranty? Why do you keep saying to provide my contact info? You already know who I am and have all of my contact information your system as I have brought my car to your company for many many years. The staff helped us quickly and also informed us about another tire we received used having a nail and being 14 years old. So we decided to change 3 tires and remount our spare on another rim. Came in for an oil change. They told me 30 minutes. Ended up over 2 hours. No one apologized or even acknowledged my wait. Catered to an elderly woman that came in after me. They always forget to reset my maintenance light, this time they sent a guy out who had to google how to do it. Also asked them to check a noise and they said I'd have to make another appointment for that. If you don't personally know someone here, they don't treat you very well. I'm surprised this place hasn't been reviewed yet. I lost a tire last week (I know where it went, but you get the idea) and had to find a cheap replacement in a hurry. My tires aren't a very common size, but Scott's had one. They were very busy that day but asked me what time I'd be in; they put me in line, I showed up on time, and they had the tire mounted, balanced, and out the door in under 30 minutes. For only $45 (including all the random shop fees, recycling fees, etc.). The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the store was clean. I'm not me to talk down a business because everyone makes mistakes, but Scott's U-Save in steger is the worst and I mean that with my entire heart . I went to get a tire patched and a new one put on, easy enough right ? The woman backing my car out of the garage knocked my bumper off . I don't freak out . After a few moments of panic and pulling my car back into the shop they approach me and I ask what happen . The first answer was well our tech said she was back the car out and then she heard some dragging. After a few questions about me having an accident (I haven't) as well as some camera checking . They come to the conclusion she hit a tire and that was the cause, okay fine . Next step they let me know they'll be taking my car to a body shop and they will be giving me a loaner . A major inconvenience to me but I'm still like alright this is fine. The next day I come to pick up my car and they wanted me to pay full price . At this point I was pissed. I understand it's a business , but seriously asking full price after damaging my car ! I proceed to ask my best friends dad to come speak with them, I brought him with to make sure my car was okay when we went to get it , and he expresses the concern over me paying full price . We ask to speak to the manager Dave ,and he tells us that they gave me a loaner car and fixed the damage - the reason as to why I'm paying full price by the way . We reiterated the issue here was that they are at fault for the entire inconvenience anyway. Dave then asks us what we think would be fair , and to be frankly honest walking in and grabbing my keys and leaving would have been great . A service is a service I wouldn't have even been upset with half off (which was ultimately the agreement we came to ) , but they didn't even try or remotely offer a discount or anything for the way they inconvenience me and that in its own was extremely upsetting! read more
