Today, 8/22/2025, my wife drove to the site in Lansing, IL which is roughly a 1/4 mile from our home to get a tire patched. Unfortunately, in her dismay about the tire, she pulled up near a bay seeking help, instead of a marked parking spot. Well, Tom, who works the counter, decided his panties were in too much of a bunch to let this egregious act take place and displayed a very unpleasant and unprofessional attitude toward my wife. Because of this treatment, my wife called and informed me of the interaction. I've had her and my car serviced there a few times before, most recently for $3000 worth of strut work, and decided to go speak with Tom. I asked that he not be so disrespectful toward my wife, a paying customer, and to please be a little more customer focused. Well! Tom would have none of this! He basically accused my wife of lying on him, rushed from his chair in a petulant manner and demanded that the mechanic pull her car from the bay and requested that we leave without repairing the tire. There's an old saying about a hit dog hollering...well Tom hollered this morning. Attention! Customers like my wife and myself are what help keep these neighborhood businesses thriving. I loved the professionalism from the time I called the company and spoke to the owner, Joe, who referred me to their Lansing Garage. But what I liked most was, not both Garages are open on Saturday, he rotates each Saturday the ease the employees stress level. What a wonderful idea. The service man who took my information was a pleasant person. It was very easy to communicate with him, a friendly man. I was there before they opened at 8 and was done by 9:45. Customer Friendly service . Nice enough guys at the front desk. However, I ran over a nail and needed a simple tire patch. I used to work at a tire shop so I know it should take about 35 mins tops and cost around 20-25 dollars for this to be fixed. They took an hour and a half and charged me 43.00 dollars . my husband and i have been going to stanfa for the last five years. jim, who is now retired, was awesome. husband took his truck in because his check engine light was on. gage had the mechanics take it right in, indicated the problem and didn't charge him. my truck was making a funny noise, so i took it in two weeks after my husband took his in and they charged me $58.88 for an inspection fee! i told this very new young and inexperienced man gage that of all the years we've brought our vehicles here, we have never ever been charged for an inspection! i then asked craig, who is now the manager over both the stanfa lansing and south hollad locations, when did you guys start charging for inspections? he snapped back and said "we always have" and continued making a phone call. so i reluctantly paid the $58.88 because i had no other choice! how they even came up with that odd figure is beyond me! next gage gives me a quote for the work that needs to be done. gage said, "this $58.88 inspection fee will be deducted from the total when you get the work done to your truck." fast forward to saturday, february 18, 2023....i had my truck towed to stanfa for the said work i was quoted. i was told by gage that my truck would be ready monday! i thought how awesome because monday was president's day and my husband would be able to take me to pick up my truck because he was off work that day. well, i called and gage said my truck wouldn't be ready until tuesday around noon. i told him how disappointed i was because i was promised it would be done on monday. no explanation was given. on tuesday gage calls to tell me my truck is ready and running like new! i asked him over the phone what the total would be. the total given wasn't minus the $58.88 he promised would be deducted! he argued with me over the phone. i told him we'll discuss it further when i arrived. i had to have a friend drop me off. when i got there gage once again tried to pull a fast one on me and tried to make me think i was stupid by telling me the quote he gave me was already minus the quote price! bologna!!!! i said that sould have been stupulated in black and white on the quote! we went back and forth then the third grader came out of gage and he said, "well is your word against mine!" i was in shock! his customer service skills sucks! i am 51 years old and no employee of any establishment should speak to a customer in that manner! i immediately asked him who was his manager and he said joe at the south holland location. so after i paid for my truck without him taking the $58.88 off, i sat in my truck and called joe! joe said he's not the manager...craig is! i said craig wasn't there and wasn't helpful the last time i was there! i said who's over craig? he said frank stanfa, but due to his health issues, he can't and won't help you. joe was kind enough to hear me out and called gage as well. after 10 mins, i left to see how my truck would ride. five mins in, joe called back and my truck was still a bit shakey! then a loud beeping was heard and my emergency break light came on! the person working on my truck left the emergency break on!!!! joe clearly heard it! joe said he spoke with craig and would refund my $58.88, but i had to go back and let gage physically run my card again. got back and had my husband on speaker. gage didn't know what he was doing and had me standing there for 15 minutes! i walk with a cane and for "some strange reason" the refund wasn't going through! gage made a terrible joke saying, "we can take your money, but we don't wanna give it back!" then he laughed! did he think this was some type of joke?!?!!! at that point, i had to sit down and he called someone to let them know my refund wasn't going through. he laughed with whomever he was speaking too and told them he'll keep trying. after another 10 mins, the refund went back on my card! i did ask him if i could simply get a cash refund and gage said we don't have any money in the store, but while he was on the phone he said can i do a cash refund?! what?? i told gage you are wasting my time and this should have been handled by you correctly the first time! gage's response, "i still feel that i didn't do anything wrong!" i said of course you don't, but the god i serve will deal with you! he agreed!i told gage that my truck is still shaking. he said it probably just needs to be broken in. i'm like so how long should i wait to see if it stops? he said i would wait until you've driven it 100 miles and if it's still shaking, bring it back in and we'll take a look at it again! well, i'm pretty much done with stanfa at this point and it's really a shame that they have hired a very young i experienced child to replace jim! as joe said, "gage is still wet behind the ears!" i concur! read more

not happy with the Lansings store front end alignment work, took a car in because of tire wear, had it aligned , got it back, car drifted to the right and steering wheel was not straight, print out of alignment was out of spec., took it back and they did nothing to fix the problem. all I got was the toe in, toe out set for the price of a alignment. I had Stanfa in South Holland do alignments before and was very happy with there work, will be gong back there for my next alignment. read more

I took a used car that I was considering for purchase to Stanfa last week. I do not live in the area but looked up a local mechanic via the Car Talk web site on NPR. I had wanted to take it to my own mechanic, but the used car place wouldn't let me drive it out of town. DO NOT use these guys at Stanfa. Craig is very nice, and he got me in very quickly. However, he told me that the only things wrong were incidentals like bulbs being burnt out and some other missing cosmetic pieces. He confirmed that it was going to need to be aligned, but I was the one who told him that when I arrived. This morning, upon seeing the car, my mechanic (whom I have used for over 10 years) said "did you buy this?" and proceeded to ask if I had a warranty. Now I'm in for $1800 of work. Had I known this, I would either have not have purchased the car or would have used all of the trouble spots during my negotiating process. I called Stanfa just now to ask for my assessment fee back. The man on the phone totally punted the problem to Craig who will be in tomorrow. read more
